21.01.2022 A lot of attention is being given to the "future of work" but some of this is ignoring the past. Workplace health and safety is also falling into this trap. A sustainable future can only be built on the base of the past. https://safetyatworkblog.com//you-cannot-have-a-future-of/
21.01.2022 "In a statement to the court, Mr Parker said he struggled to do work around the house and had not been able to pursue his hobbies of tinkering with cars, riding motorbikes, or playing computer games." Are we starting to understand the real impact of work harms on the community and why prevention and support for harm is possible. No more excuses!

17.01.2022 "Under the new laws, Victorian workers who seek compensation for a mental health injury under WorkCover will receive payments to cover reasonable medical expenses while they await the outcome of their claim. "Workers whose claims are rejected will continue to receive access to payments for up to 13 weeks from the date they submitted their claim. This measure gives certainty of immediate support whether a claim is accepted or not, encouraging workers to make a claim and seek the treatment they need."

16.01.2022 The hospitality industry is among the hardest hit from the impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic. We applaud Willing Bros owner and THA board member Carl Windsor fo...r opening up about his own mental health struggles and the challenges of the pandemic has presented personally and professionally. We know Carl is not alone, with many industry members struggling as the restrictions on the industry take a toll mentally and financially with some venue owners and operators being forced to reconsider their ongoing viability, and essentially their livelihoods. The THA has launched a mental health resource via the website, gathering the most relevant mental health information and resources in one place. We are not the experts, but the resource does provide a platform where experts can be accessed and information can be sourced for anyone who is looking for help, or for anyone concerned about their friends or workmates. The THA will continue to support the entire industry through this extremely challenging time and we are looking at further ways we can develop meaningful resources focused on mental health.
