21.01.2022 Today is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. We should all stop and remember that every number in the road toll is someone's mother, brother, sister, father, husband, wife, daughter or son. What number of road deaths and serious injuries would you accept? #TowardsZero

20.01.2022 IMOVE CRC video featuring Brent Toderian challenges the "flawed narrative" of "car equals freedom" and talks about the benefits of prioritising walking, biking and transit. This is so relevant to 'car is king' Aussie mentality. Our cities need to realise that "adding more lanes to address congestion is like loosening your belt to address obesity"

10.01.2022 For the first time ever, Australians from across the country will have a unique opportunity to tap into the knowledge of a panel of the nations foremost expert...s on driverless vehicles as part of the 2nd International Driverless Vehicle Summit to be held in Adelaide this week. Before we can make the move to driverless vehicles, this panel aims to explore various discussion points such as the need to enable vehicles to make an informed decision of what type of crash is acceptable where a driverless vehicle is involved. Who makes the decision of who lives, dies or is injured when a driverless vehicle is involved? How to submit your question for the interactive session: - Download the Sli.do app from your smartphone or head to the Sli.do website. - Enter U900 for the Summit. - Select '2nd International Driverless Vehicle Summit'. - Type in your question and hit the Ask button. You can ask anything you like! The panel session is running at 1.30pm-3pm (ACDT) on Friday 17th November, you can enter in your questions from now on up until the duration of the session. Have your say! Simply leave a comment below to get the conversation going and also see what other people have to say about a driverless future. (Please remember to be nice to each other!) 07.01.2022 Grattan Institute's report says congestion is worse in suburbs without rail access. Without more investment in public transport, commuters have limited choices and will simply be paying more to sit in traffic.

04.01.2022 Latest news... past Mars and heading towards Asteroid Belt...

04.01.2022 Interesting article, good questions.. but with an obvious agenda for an emotive response by the reader against CAV's (connected and automated vehicles) with every example written as you, the driver, will be injured. I suggest looking at these questions from two alternative views: 1. How do we currently answer these q's, and will CAV's improve the situation? Currently, the vast majority of injuries and fatalities on our roads are typically caused by drivers (commonly speed or ...impaired by distraction, substance or fatigue). Currently over 1200 people die on Australian roads per year and by taking control away from the driver, CAV's are predicted to improve these road statistics by up to half (https://www.onlinepublications.austroads.com.au//AP-R551-17). So even CAV's that are programmed to prioritise a random group of pedestrians that appeared out of nowhere over you, the driver, ...is actually MORE LIKELY to save you, or a member of your family, from being injured or killed by a drunk or speeding driver because these 'drivers' will not be driving anymore. 2. More than likely, I see a future where our phones connect us, as pedestrians, into the vehicle network. Perhaps even RFID tags on pet collars, school bags and bicycles can connect almost every moving thing in our cities onto the vehicle network. CAV's of the future will 'see' pedestrians and be alerted to a potential collision before they even come into view (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgVMjKar60w). A future like this, will make the above q's totally irrelevant. I see a future where we can save, maybe, over 600 fatalities/17,000 hospitalisations per year and $35,000,000 per day (yep $35M per day) from road trauma (these are 50% of current stats) if this tech can be successfully deployed on our roads.
