25.01.2022 Ive been a little quiet with the videos due to the recently postponed Tiny festival but now the world has ended and Ive got loads of time to burn things and film it.

23.01.2022 Bushfire Tiny Mark 2 is well under way. This house will be for sale in June as a shell, ready for a DIY interior fit out. Ill be making some in-depth videos in a few weeks to explain the fire proofing as well as my trailer building and framing methods. Ill be displaying this house in around 3 weeks time.

21.01.2022 Last week I deliver my latest Tiny house to its temporary home in NSW. Its making a stop over in the tiny village of Greenethorpe where artist and and Tiny Home builder, John Hill, will be fitting it out to his own style. I had a great night with John and his family discussing design options and sharing tales of the Tiny House universe. The house will be lived in full-time at its Canberra home once John has completed his work.... I was also lucky enough to spend the night in one of Johns creations, this beautifully crafted Tiny Truck. You can follow Johns work at https://www.facebook.com/vintageandhandcraftedcaravans

21.01.2022 Bushfire Tiny number 3 just made it to lock-up stage, just a few more months before its complete and installed in the Dandenong ranges. Ive weighed it at 3.1 tonnes at this stage, its a much larger, thicker, stronger model than any of my other builds. Designed around the Flame Zone BAL Regulations. Two of the shutters double as an outdoor table and all of them are incredibly solid and rigid, extremely fire resistant.

20.01.2022 Huge burn test on my Flame Zone Tiny house building techniques.

20.01.2022 A short video on my bushfire proof doors. I'll be making more these short films to explain the details of my builds. This house will be ready for inspection soon, it's been sold already but if you would like to take a closer look please contact me.

19.01.2022 My contribution to the Tiny house movement in Australia. This album features 6 Tiny Houses on Wheels of varying sizes and capacities. Featured in the blog, Tiny GO Lightly, is the largest of the six. This was built in conjunction with owner builder, Sarah Smethurst in Bunyip Victoria. Small and dark blue is my first scratch build, this is a bedroom which currently resides at Warrukan Eco Village in Gippsland. ... Coloured red is the worlds first Bushfire resistant Tiny House on Wheels. I adapted the BAL 29 regs to suit a trailer and completed it in a Farm-Punk style. Completely self sufficient and carefully finished, it sold to a local CFA firefighter for $60,000. Bushfire Tiny Mark 2 is bight blue in colour and a similar style to its for runner. I simplified the fire proofing and reduced the size to appeal to a broader market. No inside shots as the house is to be sold just as a shell. Currently in construction is the black and silver Tiny, this is a Flame Zone bushfire resistant holiday house. Heavy on construction, insulation and industrial in style, this house is not for the frivolous. weighing 3.1 tonnes at lock-up and sitting at 2.9 wide metres on the road, this is a step outside my usual towable tinys.

19.01.2022 My Off grid living project in the Beautiful Kinglake Ranges, nearly 3 years in, just a few finishing touches before this property goes up for sale in Feb. No house to speak of, just some grand landscaping and a planning permit. Im currently living in the converted shed and working on the property whilst developing my bushfire resistant Tiny Houses.

18.01.2022 My school holiday project, revamping this fair maiden from a few years ago.

17.01.2022 I’ve built lots of Tiny’s for other people, this one is for myself. It’s bushfire resistant, passively heated, light and fully self sufficient. It’s not finished just yet, it will do for now while I complete my next two projects.

17.01.2022 Two years of planning, six days of building, I now have a water wheel! Painted steel, reclaimed messmate and lot of patience went into building this. It spins incredibly easily thanks to some top quality bearings. Hopefully in the future I can connect it up to a small turbine to substitute the solar power in the winter months.

14.01.2022 My bushfire Tiny sold last night to a Canberra resident. She got an absolute bargain at $18,000 and is looking forward to fitting it out to live permanently within a serene country setting.

14.01.2022 This webinar is hosted by Ferne King, co-founder of Tiny Foot print and fellow Kinglake Rages resident. It will be money well spent for anyone interested in the Tiny House construction process. Ill be making an appearance in a few weeks to discuss Material choices.

12.01.2022 3 years of off-grid living and construction is coming to an end. My property is up for sale, my water wheel, grass roof and veggie patch will belong to someone else soon. I didnt get to build the house but Im quite stoked with the way the property has ended up. If anyone is looking to buy: https://www.integrityrealestate.net.au/ If you would like to see the property before I move on, I will have an open day for my current Tiny house build in a month or so. ... Enjoy photos.

12.01.2022 At Christmas time, I went halves in a portable mill. It took me a few weeks to get it in working order, and a few more weeks to get my skills in up to scrstch but finally, its all come together. Ive milled up all my house framing pine plus some solid hardwood planks for furniture making. Ill be looking for timber milling work over the next 12 months, let me know if youre interested in timber or in having your own logs milled up.

12.01.2022 Toms got another tiny house up for Auction this month, open days start this Sunday Let me know if you want to road trip it from the city

11.01.2022 Ahead of the upcoming fire season, I have written down my thoughts on Tiny Houses and Bushfire. You can find it here a the Tiny House Directory. https://australiantinyhousedirectory.com.au/escaping-the-/

11.01.2022 Last week I showed a local film maker named Peter C Downey around my Tiny house. He has some great doccos and videos on his channel, United Natures Media, looking forward to working with him again in the future.

08.01.2022 Im proud to announce that Ive moved my operations to Wesburn in the Yarra Ranges. Ill be working out of a community run workspace called ECOSS, along side another Tiny house builder, Tiny House 2 Go. There are several other businesses running out of here as well including a potter, chocolatier, vegetable farm and a horticulturalist. Well worth a look if you are in the area.

07.01.2022 Should Sugi Ban Facias... A Japanese technique for preserving timber and increasing the resistance to fire. The timber is Grey Ironbark, an extremely resistant timber in its natural form but even more resilient to bushfire now that its deeply charred.

07.01.2022 My current Tiny project... This is my most fire resistant construction yet, based on the BAL Flame Zone standards, this house will sit at the top of a forested hill in Badgers Creek with minimal clearing. This is a very elaborate frame with an inner skin of plywood and insulation inside and out. ... Im still a long few months off having this completed, hopefully showing it off in the new year.

06.01.2022 This weeks Tiny Video is all about the surrounds of your house and how to place your tiny to give it a good chance of survival.

06.01.2022 Its difficult to explain everything that Ive put into this design but Ive given it a crack, its a long video so get your self a coffee and a blanket. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwNc-dN-7Kk&t=3s

05.01.2022 10m years of Decks, pergolas, verandahs, boardwalks, alfrescos and fences. All designed and built by myself under the Blue Leaf Creations Name.

04.01.2022 Ive just completed another round of burn tests for my tiny houses.

04.01.2022 Stand alone solar panels for my latest install. Keeping them away from he house was important to me for bushfire reasons, finding the sun amoungst the trees was an even larger challenge. Thanks to DBH Electrical for working with me on the design.

04.01.2022 A few progress shots of the blue Tiny shell which I sold mid year. Its being kitted out by artist and builder, John Hill from Blue Sky Gallery. Thanks a lot to Dearne for the photos.

01.01.2022 The Tiny house festival has been postponed and it is unlikely that I will have a house available at the replacement date. If you would like to see my current build, please get in touch and I can make a time, this weekend is preferable as its free in my calendar. Tom

01.01.2022 Time for another Youtube episode, this is an overall view of Bushfire construction and the myths which surround it.
