25.01.2022 Pec stretches Featuring doggos Pecs can get super short and tight with our daily lives, especially with all the at home work and studying that is going on at the moment. With having tight pecs it can then lead to muscles in your shoulder and back muscles to get weak and not work properly which causes rounded shoulders. This can then lead to weakness and as well it can cause issues further up in your neck like headaches! ... Below is a nice stretch to help loosen them off Instructions Use a doorway for support Do one arm at a time Have arm flat against the doorframe Step forward with outside leg Hold each stretch for 30 seconds - don’t make it painful Bonus tip For a bigger stretch start with arm high above shoulder height for lower pec fibres, then have are arm in line with shoulders for middle pec fibres and finally have arm below shoulder height for upper pec fibres. Hold each spot for 30 seconds then repeat for other side! Good luck #pecsstretch #doorwaystretch #Recovery #sittingfortoolong #reducingroundedshoulders #stoppingheadaches #tdamyotherapy #COVID19 #springtime2020 #doggosforlife

24.01.2022 Here at TDA Myotherapy we take extra steps to ensure our clients have the best post treatment care with Rock tape At the moment with me not working my mum called me complaining of neck pain. After a treatment with me, I finished off with some rock tape to help with the healing process. ... How Rock Tape works: Rock tape aids in increasing lymphatic fluid and Blood flow under the taped area Has a 'mechanical effect' through allowing more freedom of movement by creating slide and glide movement between the tissue layers It also has 'neurological effect' by alternating the way our bodies feel pain and improving our bodies awareness! See below for a Rock Tape technique Below is a photo post treatment using Rock Tape for neck and shoulder pain. Rock Tape aids in supporting the injured area, allowing blood flow to aid in recovery, helps reduce swelling, aids in stability to speed up your recovery as well it makes you feel amazing and supported! #RockTape #tdamyotherapy #COVID19 #posttreatmentcare #recovery

24.01.2022 AdductorsAlso known as ‘Groin’ As you can see from my face in the photo foam rolling adductors can be a super uncomfortable experience! However it is an essential for adductors as they can get extremely tight and many cause problems in other areas. ... Adductors referral pattern can be isolated to the inner thigh area down to the knee, but it can also refer to the anterior hip, quadriceps, down the shin to the foot and can even refer to your HAMSTRINGS!! Foam rolling can be a useful tool to help relieve tension in adductors with an active or static rolling technique. Tips When you find a spot that is tight or sensitive, sit still on it for 30 seconds. You can rock back fourth to help break up the tightness or just stay still. Can also extend lower leg to create a bigger stretch #tdamyotherapy #FoamRolling #adductors #foamrollinghurtssogood #myotherapy #spring

23.01.2022 Forearm stretches If you’re like me and have been studying or working from home, you may have found yourself getting really tight in your forearms. Tight forearms can lead to symptoms such as pain or numbness in the hands or fingers and the symptoms can even move up past your elbows towards your shoulders and neck! ... If this sounds like you, take a look at the pictures below of me showing you how I stretch my forearms. Hold each stretch for 30 seconds, remember to breath evenly If you’re too tight or sore don’t push the stretch, lessen the stretch to a comfortable feeling the seated stretch is easier and less intense than the all fours stretch. Try both and see what works for you. Stay safe and stay healthy #forearms #stretch #workingfromhome2020 #studyingfromhome #tdamyotherapy #myotherapy

20.01.2022 Its been a difficult past two weeks with waiting for the Victorian Government to make a decision about Myotherapy within the lessening of restrictions roadmap. I have received updates from my association and despite their attempts to reopen Myotherapy clinic across Victoria, unfortunately as it stands TDA Myotherapy will remain closed until the 26th October. I will keep you up to date with any changes that may occur. I understand that for many people this is a hard and stre...ssful time with stage 4 lasting forever! But hang in there, as cliche as it sounds, we are all in this together and we need to be there for each other to support each other through this difficult time. I am a text message or phone call away to chat to anyone, any day and any time. Stay safe and stay healthy Teghan #tdamyotherapy #stage4victoria #springtime #covid19 #smallbusiness

17.01.2022 Dear amazing TDA Myotherapy clients! I know things are really stressful and tiring at the moment with lockdown extending and us feeling lost and out of control! I am still in lockdown for the next few weeks and am waiting to hear from my association about any changes that may be coming. I will keep you all up to date with any news ... This lockdown is affecting us mentally, a lot of people are struggling to do their best to get up every morning, especially those living alone. As well as people who are no longer working or small businesses that have had to close like myself. My heart goes out to you all who are struggling and finding this stage 4 lockdown tiring. We need to stick together and be there for one another. Text or FaceTime a friend or check in on an elderly family member/neighbour. Go for a walk and just enjoy the sun that we have been blessed with. Join a friend on a walk to help keep each other accountable, read a book or just sit in the sun for 10 minutes. Use your amazing body for what it designed for and MOVE it doesn’t need to be anything crazy, dance in the house , walk the dog , anything to get you moving. I know it is so much easier said than done to be positive but it can help us get through this quicker if we support each other. I am here for all of you if you need me, I have been posting videos/information on tips to help keep your body feeling good. If there is anything you wish to see or have any questions I am more than happy to chat, I am even happy to chat over the phone for some change Please please please do not hesitate to contact me for anything. Thank you Stay healthy and stay safe Teghan #tdamyotherapy #springtime #covidupdate #mentalhealth #smallbusiness

12.01.2022 Did you know Many seated occupations such as; Bus/Truck drivers, Office workers and students etc very commonly suffer from gluteal/piriformis pain. This is due to the lack of blood flow and lack of movement throughout the hamstrings, glutes and piriformis which can lead to back pain. Due to the limited blood flow throughout the muscle, taut bands and trigger points (knots) are formed, limiting range of motion and can cause pain. ... Are you someone that places their wallet in their back pocket? Not only does this reduce blood flow throughout your glutes but also compresses your sciatica nerve, resulting symptoms such as numbness, tingling and electric shooting pain down your leg How to avoid this; Don’t put your wallet in your back pocket Use a foam roller/spiky ball to help relieve any tension throughout your hamstrings and glutes Use breaks appropriately to stretch and lengthen your muscles every hour #tdamyotherapy #seatedjobs #foamrolling #stage4victoria #COVID19 #springtime #hamstringstretch #glutestretch

11.01.2022 Foam rolling for your butt Glutes Tight glutes can be a major cause of pain and tightness in your lower back and hips. Foam rolling can be a useful tool to help reduce tightness in your glutes to help prevent any other areas getting tight. Foam rolling your glutes is recommended before and after exercise in order to help with recovery. ... Can do both glutes at the same time over like the video below you can do one at a time. #tdamyotherapy #foamrollinghurtssogood #glutes #recovery #exercises #stayhome #stage4lockdown

10.01.2022 Upper cervical (neck) foam rolling Our necks are a common area for us to hold tension in and with all the at home work/studying that’s going on many of my clients have been complaining about upper neck pain. Upper neck pain is caused from a poor seated posture with your head down for a long period of time. ... The muscles on the back of your neck become lengthened and don’t get used properly so they basically fall asleep and then we get issues such as headaches. Below is quick video of a foam rolling technique I use to help with my upper neck pain. It can be a bit sensitive so make sure to take it slowly and ease into it. Tip: rotate your head from side to side to get a more intense feeling #tdamyotherapy #foamrolling #springtime #cervicalfoamrolling #recovery #stage4victoria

07.01.2022 Foam rolling Pecs! Those working/studying at home, this one is for you! Pecs are an extremely important muscle that assists in rotating your arm. For many people working at a desk for long periods of the day can develop rounded shoulders, resulting in tightness of your pecs and consequentially a worsening of your posture.... With your posture compromised it can then lead to other issues in your shoulders, upper thoracic and neck. Below is a video of a helpful tips to foam roll your pecs. Be aware the pecs can be super sensitive so ensure you start gently or try against the wall with a tennis ball. You can also add some movement, as seen in my video, which creates a greater stretch to help loosen off your muscles even more. Make sure to have your arm extended out straight to create a bigger stretch. Good luck #pectoralismajor #pectoralisminor #foamrolling #foamrollingstretching #tdamyotherapy

04.01.2022 Calf and achilles pain My beautiful Mumma had a painful achilles for a few days, here is a taping technique I use for Achilles pain. With this second lockdown she hasn’t been working, she’s been exercising more and walking a lot more too. ... She also got new shoes (ASICS) and they’re super supportive, however, like a lot of clients my mum has flat feet. With her new shoes she felt really supported so she figured she didn’t need to put her orthotics in her shoes. This is NOT true, if you have orthotics you must put them in all your shoes because your feet need the support. Because my mum didn’t put her orthotics in her shoes her feet rolled in so excessively her plantar fascia, (soles of her feet) got really tight and caused tightness and pain in her achilles and heel. Also a lot of these issues can start small in the foot but can also refer up your leg if unattended. Taping tip: when taping over sole of foot, let your foot relax. When taping over achilles up the calf point your toes to your head to create a nice pull under the tape. Keep tape on for 2/3 days and gently take it off, rock tape is super adhesive so it has been known to take off skin if you rip it off like a bandaid so be gentle. Use oil or moisturiser on it to help peel it off #rocktape #achillespain #AchillesTightness #myotherapy #tdamyotherapy #springtime
