23.01.2022 Charmayne (Shepp News) is doing another article on perinatal mental health and looking to interview someone who has had PND. She is particularly keen to find a father too. If anyone knows someone who might be happy to be interviewed please contact Charmayne at the Shepp New by Wednesday.

16.01.2022 I was interviewed for this article which I hoped might be an opportunity to help people think about the mental health of infants as well. That didn’t get a look in but it is a start. The journalist was going to add a box about Circle of Security but since we filled the group she suggested that she might do it in February before the next group. It would be nice to get some referrals from new mums and bubs too, as so far most of my referrals are for 3-5 year old kids. I think you need a subscription to view the article sorry.

14.01.2022 Welcome to my page! My focus is to share information and insights that might be useful for families and with young children, particularly those who are struggling with supporting their emotional needs as they grow and change. I will share posts that I see that might be relevant to this group. I will mostly re-post articles that I see and read that I think might be relevant to the group. I will use my professional judgement as a psychologist to ascertain if the information i...s useful or worthy of discussion. However, I am not responsible for the accuracy of the content and I may not have read the original research. Please feel free to comment and discuss in a polite and respectful way... there are multiple perspectives on any topic. I reserve the right to delete any comments that I do not believe to be helpful. If you have a topic relevant to children's emotional development that you would like to know more about, please let me know. Happy reading :-) See more

10.01.2022 ISN students are looking for clients with less complex mental health conditions (adults with anxiety/depression/ADHD etc.). They are accepting referrals from across the state. As it is a university, Masters students treat clients under supervision and there is no charge for the service. https://isnclinic.com.au/telehealth/

08.01.2022 Chapter 1 of Circle of Security concept Since I am running the Circle of Security program at the moment I thought I should highlight the key concepts for each chapter. The first one is about the circle of security being 'Hidden in plain sight'. The Circle is the going out (to explore) and coming in (for comfort) that our children do to form and build attachments. The session helps us learn to hone our observational skills to see these circles in action all around us. "The baby is the book" and if we take careful notice they tell us what they need from us.

06.01.2022 Just came across this. Saves me making one up myself!

04.01.2022 I am seeing so many older girls presenting with ASD lately. It is sad that it has taken us so long to think about how girls might present differently than boys. They often suffer from a range of other mental health problems before the finally get assessed for ASD. This podcast explains why quite well.

03.01.2022 My first Circle of Security session via Zoom worked so beautifully! It is a fabulous platform to run COS via and I enjoyed having a small group and a provisional psychologist to support me to enable me to concentrate on the group. I will definitely be running the program again in term 1 next year through GV Developmental Clinic . Expressions of interest will be welcome.
