24.01.2022 Tea is such a wonderfully diverse tradition. For many countries it is imbedded in their culture. Not just a drink, but a way of life. It is often linked to philosophies of harmony and balance. From the Chinese Cha-Dao to English afternoon tea, the tea ceremony is steeped with history and purpose. There are some fascinating traditions out there. Like the Iranian tea houses, where you are expected to place a sugar cube between your teeth and drink the tea through it. ... Or, in more recent times, Thai bubble tea. One thing is for sure, the pursuit of a cup of tea can lead you on many adventures - down dodgy looking alleyways, to the top of mountain ranges or to gorgeous palaces. It’s not just about the cup, but the people you meet along the way and those who share the experience with you. What interesting tea culture experiences have you had?

23.01.2022 The world of tea is so wonderfully diverse. I experience this in conversation at my markets all the time. Every customer is unique in their taste. From oolong to pu-erh, white tea to smokey Lapsang, I get a lot of interesting requests. And the look on their faces when I say yes, I have that makes having this little business so rewarding. Have a great week - whatever it is you’re drinking. Christina xo

23.01.2022 Blending is so much fun. I just put on some music and let the magic aromas waft through the church. Over the past few months I’ve been fine tuning my soon-to-be- launched organic range. Today, in the research department, are the black teas that will form part of the new range. ... There’s still a little more tweaking to be done. But, hey, I’m not complaining one bit. It’s a wonderful process: a bit of smooth Darjeeling, some subtle malty Assam, all combined with a hint of something smokey (well, there’s a fair bit more to than that). Just make sure I remember to take notes! And, yes, we do sell the teaware. They are on the website (link in bio). They are delicate, yet sturdy. We put them through the dishwasher without issue. Have a great afternoon. Christina xo

21.01.2022 My husband, Matt, took this pic while travelling through a very remote area of China. An area that is rarely visited by westerners, Yunnan is a region that is rich in culture and tea history but is also a disputed border area with Myanmar (think tanks and soldiers). It’s a world away from little Lennox Head. It is most famous for its Pu-erh tea forests. Some dating back 1300 years. And, the fermented tea cakes that are produced there. Like a good bottle of wine, some tea cak...es develop with age and many are aged for 20 to 30 years. In this pic there are three, maybe four generations from the same family. It was a random roadside encounter. I love their smiles, and how sweet are their clothes?! It’s crazy how the world has changed in such a short space of time. I feel it’ll be a very long time before we can freely travel abroad again. This week I have my mum and sister visiting. I’m looking forward to just sitting at the table, making tea and chatting. I’m sure we’ll all end up pottering around the garden and there’ll be a trip to the nursery somewhere in there too. It’s just what we do. One of the positives to come from the pandemic is we, as a country, are looking to support more Australian owned and Australian grown. I get quite a lot of enquires about Australian grown tea and I’m proud to be able to say Yes, we have four! Outback Breakfast- Bold and robust. For a long time it’s been our most popular tea. A premium quality Daintree black tea which you will not find in the supermarkets.. Australian Dream - Black tea blended with lavender and chamomile. Perfect for that evening cuppa in front of the telly. Melbourne Cup (75% Aussie Grown) - An easy drinking everyday black tea. A hint of sweetness. Australian Genmaicha (green tea with toasted rice) - Sourced from a high altitude plantation, this harvest was made available in limited quantities, which makes it very special. It is like velvet on your tongue. Remember, free shipping for orders over $40 (use the discount code FREESHIP). Have a great Sunday. Christina Xoxo

Pu-erh tea (also known as the slimming tea) has been heralded for its medicinal properties by the Chinese for centuries.... One thing is for sure, it suppresses your appetite. Simply drinking a cup about an hour after a meal helps to prevent snacking. SKINNY TEA SCIENCE Known for its ability to inhibit an enzyme complex called fatty acid synthase (FAS), which is linked to obesity, scientific studies have shown that regular consumption of Pu-erh helps to eliminate fatty deposits, prevent weight gain and lower cholesterol. Pu-erh has a distinctive earthy and robust flavour. By blending it with carefully selected herbs we’ve created a solid, savoury tea which helps to reduce appetite and sugar cravings. Cardamom, cloves and ginger kick start your metabolism. Dandelion root, hawthorn, cocoa, nettle and alfalfa act as nature’s finest digestive agents to help you feel light as a feather again. 09.01.2022 Hello Saturday!

07.01.2022 I often get asked about decaffeinated teas. Rooibos is a much more interesting herbal infusion compared to the old decaf that we might associate with. Grown in South Africa rooibos has traces of iron, potassium & copper. As well as vitamin C and flavonoids. It is widely used for its health properties and is considered a great support to healthy dieting. With the most amazing aroma of blueberries, our Blueberry Muffin is sure to delight the child within, while delivering a...ll the health benefits of rooibos and honeybush. Brew: 1 teaspoon per cup for 5 minutes in boiling water. Takes milk well as a caffeine- free alternative to black tea. Ingredients:Rooibos, honeybush, elderberries, blueberries, bilberries, cornflowers 50g $20. Also available in 125 and 250g packs. Free shipping for all orders over $40 Use the discount code FREESHIP Interested in a free sampler of our Blueberry Muffin? Request it in the comments section with your next order. 04.01.2022 Inspiration can come and go in the blink of an eye. Art is the immortalisation of inspiration - M.Moyle This week has been my birthday week. It’s been nice taking some time to reflect on the last 12 months. Which, also feels like it’s coma and gone in the blink of an eye. Thanks to my beautiful daughter, Tegan, for these lovely Australian native flowers (and the birthday memory board, complete with glitter glue writing So cute). We had a great night. ... This print is called Surfer Chic by Harry Daily and it hangs in our entry. As a teenager, I always wanted to learn to surf. It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I finally had the chance. It’s one of those pastimes where you really do get lost in the moment. There’s no feeling like it. Gliding along a little wave, thinking of nothing else but what I am doing right there and then. Just like surfer chic. Have a great day. Hopefully the sun shines down on your weekend. Christina xo Oh, what’s in my cup this morning? French Earl Grey to start the day

03.01.2022 Are there any other Bernard Fanning fans out there? Way back in January (when social distancing wasn’t even a thing) we attended the Fund the Firies Bushfire fundraiser at the Beach Hotel. It was a star studded line-up of Australian music legends - as well as the Hemsworth brothers (I had a slightly embarrassing, but very funny encounter with Liam backstage - a story for another time ). The absolute highlight for me was seeing Bernard Fanning play. I may have even cried a ...few tears of joy. His Tea & Sympathy album is well worth a listen on a Sunday morning Have a lovely day. And, as Bernie says, be kind to yourself. Christina xo @rachelchaston
