10.01.2022 Do you struggle with a dog who lacks impulse control? Here is a great tool that works.

08.01.2022 ***************************** Dear Aussie owner with the 3 month old puppy, My dog Merlin jumped up and bit me at 3 months old. His tooth sunk in deep and it bloody hurt (I still have the scar). It was an accident. He wanted his toy. ... Aussies can be impulsive. As can most puppies of different breeds. Its time to teach your aussie the game of give and take. Grab 2 toys. Preferably something noisey. Alternate by giving your dog one toy, then offer him another toy. Show him that the toy in your hands is more exciting than the one he has. Ask him to drop or release the toy he has (or whatever trigger word you want to use). When he drops his toy, give him the new toy and praise him. Keep alternating and using the same word until you see improvement. Also work on 'gentle.' Offer your pup a treat. Say gentle (or whatever trigger word you prefer). If your pup does try to gobble up the treat like he hasn't eaten for days, don't give him the treat. Say no and repeat 'gentle.' Let him lick it while it is in your closed hand and gradually let him eat it while you repeat gentle or no where need be. Be mindful of the tone you use. Don't forget to praise. I hope this helps. Please feel free to add me or message me if you need any further advice. I am happy to help Sincerely, Lauren & Merlin
