22.01.2022 My 'I HAD THE BEST SLEEP' face Now that we're spending most of the school day online, who else is having trouble getting their mind offline at night??? The only thing getting me through is a strict sleep routine of herbal sleepytime tea, yin yoga (for the best before-bed stretch!) and my @baxterblue_ glasses that block out the blue light and reduce digital eye strain Any other tips??? I struggle with sleep at the best of times so I'm open to ANYTHING that will get me to the gates of Zzzzz-Land #sleepymiss #wellbeing

22.01.2022 DO YOU KNOW ANY INCREDIBLE TEACHERS?? I've got a number of complimentary affirmation card packs to send their way. Because when times are tough, my go to question is HOW CAN I HELP??? And even if the answer is seemingly small...I'd like to think it could make even the slightless difference to someone's day. So please, if you know any incredible teachers - 1. Drop a in the comments below.... 2. DM me their name AND the name of their school. 3. Sit back while I prep their affirmation cards and send it their way And that's it! Just wanting to spread some love and pay it forward for all the acts of kindness that have come my way. In this together...still#heymiss #ithinkyoureincredible

20.01.2022 Toughest week ever. But we're tougher #takecareofyourself

16.01.2022 UNPRECEDENTED and UNCERTAIN times? To that, I’d say it’s somewhat UNTRUE. Consider this: Since the day you were born, you’ve been dealing with uncertain times. You’ve never really known how ANY day is going to unfold. Routine and repetition give us a sense of control, but it’s not actual control. Yes, policies have changed and procedures are now different. But the truth is, every moment we’ve ever lived has been unprecedented and uncertain. This day is no different. ... As Teachers, we’ve always had to navigate change with unpredictable kids and unexpected moments. We do a pretty darn good job of dealing with it too! This is what makes us human the ability to adapt quickly and pivot when needed. It’s how our brains are designed. Unprecedented? Every day is. And we’ll keep kicking ass because WE KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH CHANGE. We’ve been doing it every moment of our lives. We’ve made it this far. And we’ll keep dealing with the uncertainty togetherbut apartyou know what I mean x #takecareofyou #thankyoumiss #trustyou'vegotthis

12.01.2022 From mind-FULL to mindful After a wild week, you'll find me anywhere with fresh air, green grass and calm waters #heymiss #returntothepaceofnature #week6done

11.01.2022 If I see it in the world Then it lives within me We are but a reflection Of all we can see... Polarity? Duality. In complexity, set free. If I see it in the world Then it lives within me. Dismissive Abusive Reductive Complicit Persistent to blame Resistant to change Systemic shame Enslaved to the game Of back & forth Us versus them If here we begin Then nobody wins Does it really have to be either/or? There's got to be more than against or for. Possibility begins within me Of all that could be If I see YOU within ME Now that...is unity. If I see it in the world Then it lives within me We are but a reflection Of all we can see

11.01.2022 After getting her hearing aid earlier in the year, we noticed my daughter had a few gaps in her reading development. Makes sense, because she's only had 8 weeks of being able to hear the sounds properly. I always feel a bit out of my depth with Early Learning so THANK GOODNESS I was able to find @mrsjumpsclass Guided Reading to help The activities actually made sense, even to me! You can find this (and loads more homeschooling resources) on the Teachers Pay Teachers website. Be sure to check it out if you're stuck for ideas on how to help your little (and big) ones PS not affiliated, just sharing what's working at my zoo #heymiss #remotelearning #whateverworks

10.01.2022 It's here. The shift in education has arrived. The four walls of the classroom are starting to crumble. Or expand. Whichever way you look at it, education is now a lived experience and a shared responsibility. Schools, parents, communities and, most importantly, students themselves will be working as one. Together, we'll focus on: How to problem solve. How to set up an environment for learning. How to concentrate.... And how to create. It's no longer about WHAT to learn; but HOW to learn. Our value is in our creativity. And what we create in the weeks ahead is going to be truly priceless. Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Workers, Teachers, Students - for everything you're about to do, I truly truly salute you #heymiss #winehelps

08.01.2022 I'm so proud to be a teacher right now To be on the front lines of innovation is truly exciting. It's tiring, yes. But any kind of systemic change comes with that. We get to say, "We were a part of this moment in history. We wrote the programs. We advocated for every child. We figured it out. We did this." Because of you, we're moving forward together #progress #innovation #wedidthis

07.01.2022 Some great advice for families about how to approach the next few weeks of school. Because as Dr. Coulson says, 'Anything that is rupturing relationships, causing stress or is taking away from providing for your family is just too much.' My fave takeaways are: 1 hour/day of school work for little ones. Work in sprints, if working from home. Set 3 priorities each day for a moment of connection, exercise and helping someone else who might be less fortunate. Would love to know if you have any other tips for homeschooling In this together...apart

06.01.2022 Kindness has a magic that can break through barriers It's not always the quickest option but it definitely has a lasting impact #connection #care #curiosty

05.01.2022 This symbol tipped me over the edge yesterday. I could do the server shut down. I could do the emails. And the learning 47 different platforms in a lunch break. BUT when this symbol wouldn't disappear from my Word Docs, I was done! Thankfully the right person was walking by at the right time and I was able to offload Some days are good and some days you're crying on the shoulder of your deputy principal But one thing I know for sure, when I hear from my students and see how well they've been able to adapt and push on, it gives me the strength to keep going too #godblesstheITdepartment

03.01.2022 This girl is desperately missing incidental exercise from teaching classes With the move to online learning, I'll be doing my best to 'stretch it out' next week. My colleagues and I also realised how often we ask our kids to be seated - especially the older ones. No wonder they're jumping out of their skin by the end (read middle) of the day. I'll definitely be including more opportunities for brain breaks and kinesthetic learning when our kids return. But in the meantime, you can find me in a corner somewhere, wrestling a yoga mat as a try to find my downward dog #heymiss #keepmoving

03.01.2022 There's only been a few times in my life when I've had to completely redefine it. Becoming a teacher and becoming a mother (see pic of my wildling above) come to mind. We're now in another moment of becoming. And to overcome the overwhelm, I'll ask the same guiding questions that have seen me through every unknown stage in life: Who do I want to become?... How do I want to show up? And what are the possibilities? There's no 'back to normal' here. It's now a process of letting go and 'becoming' according to what currently is. And as always, doing it with complete care, compassion and curiosity. Take your time. Be gentle with yourself. And trust that, even through the craziness, there will still be plenty of moments to capture and hold dear along the way #becoming #heymiss

02.01.2022 I have a confession to make - when it comes to Indigenous education, I've held back. I've always been deeply connected to culture on a personal level. But I've been hesitant to bring it into my professional life. To be honest, I have the same fears as you. Worried that I'll offend. And not sure if I know enough. Sometimes the history, the trauma and the politics can be so overwhelming it stops me dead in my tracks. And then I get nowhere. ... I have to remind myself to do what I tell my kids - stay curious and be kind. So for now, I'll bring it back to one small step. One conversation. One question. I'll get to know the kids. And I'll have that chat I've always wanted to have but never did. This I can do. With National Reconciliation Week approaching, I'm aware of the need for me to reconcile my own hurt, my own fears and my own trauma. This is a good place to start. 'May there be peace. And may it start within me.' #nationalreconciliaitonweek #heymiss #staycurious #bundjalungwoman
