25.01.2022 We had a blast fishing the AYC yellowbelly classic on Windamere Dam on the weekend. We couldn't resist the opportunity to mix it with the best yella fisherman in the state and we came pretty close finishing 6th out of 59 teams. It was a great weekend with some decent fishing and a few ales by the fire with a good bunch of blokes. The yellas came slowly but surely on a mix of transams and grubs between the weed and trees on the banks with a few small Cod thrown in by surprise. Congrats to the top 3 place getters and many thanks to the AYC organisers and helpers to make it a great weekend. Finally as always thanks Windybanks Bait and Tackle for the support.

24.01.2022 We fished the final round of The Australian Freshwater Masters on the weekend at the very challenging Lake Mulwala chasing Murray Cod. This was only our second time fishing here and targeting Murray Cod for that matter so we were more than happy to put a few on the score card. The fish were caught on a mixture of bassman spinnerbaits and swimbaits with a few opportunities missed along the way. We ended up second place overall from the 3 rounds against a quality field of anglers. Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved in running this competition and of course to Windybanks bait and Tackle for the support. Off to Port Macquarie in a couple of weeks for the start of the bream season. Stay tuned

15.01.2022 What a crackin weekend just gone at Windamere Dam for the AYC Fishing Tournaments round 4. The weather was great and the fishing even better with no shortage of fish coming over the side. Unfortunately we had motor problems mid way through the first session, however we still managed our limit of 10 fish at an average of a touch over 4kg per fish. This was good enough for 11th place which we were all pretty happy with. The standout lure for the weekend was a lure Dave has been working on from his new company 'VEX Performance Lures'. It's a little 35mm blade called the Bread & Butter 35 and the fish were all over it anywhere from the shallows to the deep. As always many thanks to Windybanks for the support, Bruce and the team at AYC and congrats to the champion teams.

15.01.2022 We managed to make it into the Hobie Southern Bream Series Grand final cut of 43 teams on the weekend. It was a split event with the first round being at the dreadded Shoalhaven river and the second day at StGeorges Basin. The first day was a tough slog with two legal fish boated and many missed opportunities from pulled hooks and a couple of smokings. All captures and hits were on Shallow hard bodies....Jackall Chubbies except for one which was on a Z-man Grub in Motor oil. ...It was decided to fish the mouth broken reef and rocky edges for the morning until the high tide changed at 9-930 and chase the tide up river. As it worked out the larger fish were upriver early and they had a good bite. Its a tough ground to fish and have never had much luck in the Shoalhaven so it was a positive thing that we did manage 2 and were getting the bites we needed but just didn't capitalise. We were placed in 25th position which was redeemable at StGeorges basin the next day. StGeorges basin was where we were hopeful to get a decent bag and try to gat a top 10 result. We started of strong with three decent fish coming on-board early. then changed a few locations and filled our bag. We then focused on quality fish and looked to upgrade through out the rest of the day. We predominately fished edges with Jackall Chubbies Hardbodies, Bent minnows and various plastics. By the end of the session we had managed to upgrade three fish giving us a respectable 3.04kg and lifting our position to 16th overall. It was a fun weekend and need to thank the organisers and sponsors for the tournament series. Also a massive thanks to Windybank's Bait and Tackle for there continued support. All the gear we used is all available to buy in store or online at www.windybanks.com.au Next weekend we have a big series starting with two back to back legs (4days) of the Australian Freshwater Masters at Lake Windamere (Golden Perch) and Lake Glenbawn (bass). Bring it on!!!! Can't wait.

14.01.2022 Well, what a tough old day at the round 1, Berkley Super Series at the Hastings Port Macquarie on Sunday. Fishing the river for the first time is always a challenge. After putting together a good plan after the Saturday prefish we set off quite optimistic on Sunday morning expecting to put together a decent bag and hoping to possibly upgrading a few fish only to have our hopes dashed with only catching two legal fish over the whole session. Plenty of by catch and small bream but nothing like it was on Sat. Oh well, that’s fishing!!! Looking forward to the next round where we will be looking to redeem ourselves. Congrats to all the place holders...it was a tough day. Thanks to Windybanks bait and tackle for the continual support and also for Berkley and the sponsors for the series.

13.01.2022 We fished in The Australian Freshwater Masters on the weekend with the first leg of the tourney being at lake Windamere chasing the mighty Golden Perch. Landing 27 fish over the two sessions and upgrading some smaller 430mm models we managed an excellent bag at 5663mm for the best 10 fish with the largest going 600mm placing us in 1st place. All the Yellas were caught on transams. The second leg was at lake Glenbawn chasing the bass. Had some great sessions with plenty of fi...sh caught on feral cats, oargees, bassman spinner baits, skirted jigs and chatterbaits. In the end we pulled together a pretty good bag of 3931mm with several bass over 400mm fork and the biggest going 405mm. Results are yet to be posted but we should be right up there ready to enter the final leg in Feb at lake Malwalla in Vic chasing the big slob cod. Stay tuned!!! All the gear we used is available at Windybanks bait and tackle. Or online at www.windybanks.com.au.

11.01.2022 We fished in the third round of the Berkley Super Series on Sunday at the Hawkesbury River. Prefishing was fun on Saturday with plenty of fish around including some really crackers amongst them, one going 40cm fork and another 38. Come Sunday we had a great plan and hit our spots only to find the bite had changed from the day before. We had our first three fish in the first hour so things were on track. We followed our plan as the tide turned and started to run back out still... getting plenty of fish but struggling to find the big girls. Ended up upgrading a number of times throughout the day and ending up with a 2.8kg bag for the best 5 bream placing us 25th in a field of over 70 teams. Congrats to Mark and Gavin for a great bag of 4.7 taking out the round and to the other place getters. Over the weekend we found that the Jackall Chubbies, Berkley Gulp shrimp in camo and Atomic hardz crank 38 we’re the go to lures with plenty of bream and flathead on the chew. See more

08.01.2022 A few weeks ago two windybanks teams headed off to fish the annual Lake Windamere Golden Classic. Both teams managed almost 20 fish per boat for the day and a half competition which is a step up from other years. Team Windybanks (feat. net boy) came in 14th catching most of their fish on Jackall Transam's. Windybanks 1 took the camp honors yet again coming in with their best result yet in 6th position. Once again the Jackall transam accounted for most of the fish with everyo...ne using 6 - 10lb flurocarbon leaders and replacing the stock standard trebles with assist hooks. Other lures that produced fish throughout the week were silent tn50's, mask vibe, zx40, samaki vibes and zerek vibes which can all be ordered through www.windybanks.com.au We also managed to completely re furbish simmo's trailer on the side of the lake which came up mint. Top effort from the boys! Thank you to Ian and Pat for organising this comp every year and let's hope whoever takes over next year can live up your your standards. See more

08.01.2022 Had an excellent couple of days out chasing the Golden Perch. Consistent bit with many caught. Biggest going 59cm.

07.01.2022 Hi everyone, Merry Christmas and happy new year we hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. Unfortunately this year we will not be fishing under the Windybanks Bait and Tackle banner anymore due to the company downsizing to focus on their wholesale bait side of the business. We thank Paul, John and Annette Windybank for their support over the years. This however does present us with an opportunity to represent Dave's new business 'Vex Performance Lures'. We hope you can all still follow our fishing adventures on that page and see all the massive fish we catch on the lures he has designed himself. Please support us by liking the page and also check out the website at www.vexlures.com

05.01.2022 Had a fun yet windy day prefishing the Hawkesbury river today. Plenty of fish caught and a bit of a plan for the next round of the Berkley Super Series.

04.01.2022 We competed in the round 5 of the Family Bassin tournament at Lake StClair on the weekend in very trying conditions with winds that sometimes felt, would very nearly blow us off the boat. After the prefish of the Friday morning and finding some good schools of fish, we had come up with a plan for the first session of the tournament. Catching over a dozen fish we managed to upgrade our bag of 4 bass a number of times to weigh in a respectable 3.55kg which was good enough to pu...t us in 5th place. The next morning we woke to find that the mega winds we experienced on Saturday were nothin compared to what we were about to experience. The session was much the same as the first and we stuck to our plan but couldn’t find the big kicker fish....still catching good numbers of fish and upgrading several times we managed to weigh in a bag of 3.04kg which again was a good bag and we held our position and final result of 5th overall which we are very happy with the result considering the field and the horrific conditions. A big congrats to the winning teams and a huge thanks to Wayne for organizing an other great event. A huge thanks to Paul Windybank for the continual support even when he and his family are going through some real tough times. #FamilyBassin See more
