18.01.2022 At the start of February, we pledged to donate 10% of all profits from events held in February, to help with the Australian bushfire relief efforts Thanks to you we were able to raise $2750 each for Vinnies Bushfire Appeal and WWFs Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund! From September 2019 to February 2020, we saw unprecedented and extreme bushfires. These fires have deeply impacted thousands of people all around Australia; many of whom will take a long time, po...ssibly years, to recover. People have lost loved ones, thousands of homes and buildings have been damaged and livelihoods destroyed. In the immediate aftermath of the bushfires, Vinnies has been on the ground helping and will continue to help Australians and their communities rebuild in the long term This summer Australia saw more than 12 million hectares of land burn. Its been estimated that around 1.25 billion animals have been killed across Australia to date. This includes thousands of iconic species such as koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, cockatoos and many more burnt alive, injured and homeless. The catastrophic bushfires that swept across our country have greatly exacerbated the species extinction crisis were already facing. WWF-Australia deploy emergency funds to care for our injured wildlife and help restore the forest homes our Australian wildlife have lost Why We Chose Vinnies Bushfire Appeal: In the immediate aftermath of the bushfires, Vinnies has been on the ground helping and will continue to help Australians and their communities rebuild in the long term. Provide food, clothing, essential items and grocery vouchers to people who have lost everything Pay unexpected bills as people go through the recovery process Refer people to other organisations that provide crisis accommodation and specialised services Give emotional support and practical assistance after homes are lost. Why We Chose WWFs Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund: WWF-Australia deploy emergency funds to care for our injured wildlife and help restore the forest homes our Australian wildlife have lost. Wildlife response including partnering with wildlife response organisations, communities and scientists nationally for a swift and effective response and recovery at scale. Habitat restoration for people and nature Future-proofing Australia including driving innovative solutions to help mitigate climate change in efforts towards securing Australias natural resources for people and nature. We think these two charities are doing amazing work and that is why we chose to support them. 01.01.2022 Like many Australians, we have been affected or know someone who has been affected by the Australian Bushfires. As a company we would like to do our bit to help the many Australian communities and animals rebuild after this horrible disaster. For February we will be pledging 10% of all profits this month to Vinnies Australia and WWF-Australia.
