25.01.2022 Cracking shot by pace images of Cam taking a bit of curb today at the Tasmanian state karting championship

24.01.2022 Not just the driver #coffeeboy

23.01.2022 North West Super Series Rnd 1 A mid week decision to run the first round of the NWSS this weekend at the NWKC for our first race meeting since the State titles last November turned out to be a pretty good decision. Recently we took delivery of a new Tony Kart EV for Rhys and only last weekend took it for his first few laps and was instantly impressed despite some comfort issues with his seat fitting. Karts being a racing machine not one of comfort every effort was made to h...Continue reading

22.01.2022 Team DCR has been rather quiet of late with the boys taking a well earned break since the Tasmanian Kart Championship in late November. The rest and relaxation has hopefully charged the battery over the Christmas break and we will be back on track in the next couple of weeks to clear the cobwebs before our season starts in February. Plenty has been happening back at the shed in preparation for the upcoming season with a few more goodies still to arrive in the next few weeks. ...We are on the lookout for a permanent crew member to join us in our adventures so if anyone is interested please shoot Darrell an inbox. Stay tuned for the announcement of our 2020 sponsors in the near future but would certainly be keen on hearing from anyone that would be interested in supporting the boys in the 2020 season.

22.01.2022 How’s ya day going

18.01.2022 Looks like we have a new guy on the spanners in the DZ racing engine department this year. At least if he has engine dramas it not the crews fault #notjustthedriver

13.01.2022 State cup ready. Just. Contemplating the weather!!

13.01.2022 This describes Cams 2020 state title weekend Qualified 14th and had 3 DNF and a 12. I just wasn’t meant to be and it’s best left in the past.... There where some positives to take away from the weekend and some lessons learnt for next year. Massive thanks to our sponsors and supporters that help us on the ride unfortunately this one won’t be one we remember for the good times.

13.01.2022 NWSS Rnd 4 WRAP UP CHKC 19/9/202 Smithton greeted us with a light drizzle upon arriving and not until later in the morning would it completely clear. Wet track is the only thing that helps to ease the pain Rhys currently find himself dealing with with the kart and driver combined weight being 8kg heavier than minimum weight and he was hoping the heavens would open. He drove great all day but as expected lacked outright pace. He made great gains with his feedback and then put...Continue reading

12.01.2022 Socially distanced podiums Finally we got to go racing!!!! Over the break we decided Cam might as well go to juniors now rather than next year and purchased the brand new Tony Kart Nordix. With 3 practice under his belt today we went racing.... We ventured to Smithton, Today’s goal: Improve. After a couple practice sessions Cadets has the honors of being the first race in the 2020-2 season and Rhys managed to snag a 2nd place along with the fastest lap. Heat 2 Rhys made a poor start but clawed his way back to 2 on the second last lap, on the final lap he got caught up on a lapper and lost 2 spots to finish 4th Heat 3 another 2nd place in the bag and a handful of cash as a incentive was offered (not by me) for passing karts which we have been working on as he lacks the confidence Rhys is no midget and despite his efforts over the last few weeks losing a couple kg (again) to go racing were still carrying a spare 10kg so we don’t run lots of fuel. In the final Rhys found himself back into his familiar 2nd place comfortably well in front of 3rd before a full course yellow interrupted proceedings and the field bunched up (sort off) on the restart the chasing pack hit the line with a head of speed with the white flag waving. Half way round the final lap Rhys kart starting coughing and spluttering as it ran out of fuel on the direction changes. He managed to keep it running but couldn’t hold on to 2nd and crossed the line 3rd. Cams racing started with a spin on cold tyres on the warm up lap ending up in the wood chips heat 1 DNF Heat 2 once the nerves where gone he showed some good speed and come home 3rd. Heat 3 and the cold tyre curse reappeared and Cam managed to park it in the chips again on the first lap from the lead! For the final his 2 DNF had him 6th on the grid last of the lights. With the self imposed pressure gone as he felt days over from here he relaxed and went out to have some fun. On the start he sliced and diced up to 3rd in the first corner and boom confidence was back. He proceeded to work away on his lap times setting his best time lap after lap until the last lap and crossed the line 2nd!! All in all it was a fantastic day back racing and catching up with our mates. Massive thanks to Donald for his hand today Chris for his guidance with the boys driving and Dion for all his help getting both the new tony karts on track this year. 11.01.2022 Well not the end to our day we would have liked in the race but 3rd in the super series is a little consolation

11.01.2022 Black plate at LKC was a dark event for us this weekend. With Rhys not having a kart atm it was just Cam this weekend and the poor dude couldn’t get a break. Front tyres vibrated all weekend Bend left steering arm Bent right hand side stub and king pin... Bent the steering column Fouled a spark plug 2 different carbies including a rebuild 11 km different to pole in qualifying at the end of the straight 21km difference at the end of the straight by end of heat 6 We never had a heat that he didn’t have an issue. He slugged away at it and did what he could from the drivers seat but some time &it happens. Hopefully he got it all out of the system ready for the next event at Launceston the Tasmania state championships in late November. In the mean time we be busy in the shed getting everything sorted ready to go. Thanks again to damo for his valued assistance, Chris for his value work with Cameron and the Austin’s for their house for the weekend. Also massive thanks those that assist us I our journey Seba Sheetmetal Austune automotive Wyllie kart city Dz Racing

11.01.2022 LKC Clubman Cup today and after a really great practice day yesterday it rapidly turned to turd today and today is best summed up by a very disillusioned and upset 10yr old after his final with Dad I love this sport but sometimes it f@&$en sucks Rhys DNF heat 1 after spinning himself trying to miss a bit of biffo in front of him and getting beached on the track edge. Heat 2 and she didn’t go go when he put his foot down to start and he slipped back to 7th and didn’t ma...nage to make a spot BUT while blind sided trying to pass missed the checker flag (which I think are in a different spot due to covid) and he blasted around for another lap and as you do got pinned two spots so was classified 9th Heat 3 he keep his self clean and found his rythem by race end and come home 6th The h1 & h2 results put end to a decently grid spot for the final and after contact on the first lap was dead last. He drove well and made up a couple spots but was never going to recover all the ground lost and he finished 9th. Cams first heat he managed to get the jump on his start and lead through the first turn but lost the rear mid corner and got cleaned by the following pack a coupe times bending the tie rod and king pin. He managed to get going but was driving a wheelbarrow and finished 7th Heat 2 while running second on lap 2 pushed a bit hard and run out of road and fell to the back and way behind. He managed to catch the back of the last group but run out of laps to make up spots. Heat 3 he stayed out of strife early and eventually go his confidence back and finished 5. Just like Rhys, Cams heats hurt him in the grid and he started back in 8th. After a ripper start he worked his way up to 5th and was showing really good pace but over cooked it under brakes at the end of the straight trying a move for 4th and buried it in the gravel. At the end of the day there was many good points but both boys never managed to put it all together at once and put themselves in the wrong spots at the wrong time. Hopefully we got all our bad luck out of the way in one go so next race they can bounce back better than before. Massive thanks to Damo for jumping on the spanners this weekend and Timmy and Chooka for putting us up all weekend. Also huge thanks to SEBA Sheetmetal Austune Automotive Wyllie Kart City DZ Racing CS Pure Racing For the support and assistance on our journeys.

08.01.2022 Late last week the boys headed to Hobart for the 2019 Tasmanian State Championship. Racing the best Tassie has to offer and some mainlanders we where under no illusions as where we sit in the order but the experience isn’t something to pass up. The boys set themselves some massive targets for the weekend and tried their best all weekend to achieve them. This weekend we had a greatly appreciated additional team member in uncle/ great uncle Russell Innes... Thursday we headed to Hobart and setup what we could in 35 plus degree heat and gale force winds. Friday saw the boys run 6 practice sessions with us trying different setups on each kart to learn as much as possible which is a luxury usually not afforded to us in our normal dad and two boys team. Friday arvo the boys qualified 9 & 10 but importantly closer to their competitors than their last race. Saturday morning heat 1 had younger brother Rhys managing to beat his big bro to finish 9 & 10 both managed their PB Heat 2 and the longer 16 lap races and lack of following dad’s instructions about hydration and getting some rest in the lead up to the events appeared to catch up with Rhys who only turned 10 on the previous Wednesday and he struggled to make the distance and come home 11th with Cameron getting a great start he managed to race his way to finish 8th Heat 3 with 20 laps had Rhys again struggling and suffered the same fate and again finished 11 with Cameron again setting a PB and finishing 9th After a lot of fluids and an early night both boys arrived at the track Sunday and both drove a fantastic Final with an almost race long tussle between themselves seeing Cam narrowly beating his younger brother home across the finish line only to receive a 10 second time penalty for a formation line violation after we stuffed a starter motor and he was late out the gate and subsequently into his starting position. In the end Cam finished 10 and Rhys managed a 9th and set another PB in the final. All in all it was a fantastic weekend spend racing with some of their buddy’s. Thanks to everyone that helped out in anyway over the weekend special mention to Russell Innes and Dion Wyllie for their help and hospitality over the weekend without these two our weekend would not be anything close to the great experience we had. Also as alway thanks to those that support us: SEBA Sheetmetal Austune automotive DZ Racing Wyllie Kart City Kracking Kart Sport And the fantastic images from pace images

07.01.2022 Dads rule 56: When you get it dirty you get it clean.

06.01.2022 Practice had issues with a vibration through the kart. Thought we had it sorted but still there for qualifying and we missed the mark by a mile on the setup. The driver did what he could be we near the back. Going to be a long day!!!!

06.01.2022 Heat 2 and so it continues! Sort one issue and turn 1 pile up. Hopefully the third heat we have a decent run!!

03.01.2022 STKC Ian Harrington memorial Rising Stars Headed to hobart for the weekend for the annual Ian Harrington memorial. Saturday was practice and we spent the day getting Cam comfortable in his seat as the move to juniors and an accident at Launceston a few weeks back has been giving him lots of back issues while Rhys spent the day changing his mind weather he was even going to race the following day or not and only headed out for the final session the day and managed 8 laps!... Sunday had the cadet 12 first on track and while entered already Rhys decided he wasn’t racing and didn’t get on track for the first heat. However in the middle of the race decided he should have raced and wondered of to get changed. He started the second heat mid pack and fluffed the start and lost a couple of spots, he took a couple of laps to get a rhythm before being escorted of line a couple times while trying to pass. That was enough to make him decide to not bother for the rest of the weekend and he withdrew from the rest of the meeting. Cam worked away on his driving all day and come home 5th, 6th, 3rd in his heats and 6th in the final despite facing the wrong way in typical turn one rough and tumble which further aggravated his sore back (which he had been icing between heats) and dislodging a side pod which parted company with the kart on the next to last lap. The day was on points and as he managed to finish every race when a couple of his competitors didn’t he scored a 4 place on the day. He ultimately still needs to find some time on the front guys however looking at the data his theoretical lap is spot on the leaders pace he just needs to manage to put all the best 12 sectors around the track in the same lap and do it every lap. Massive thanks to Dion Wyllie, Chris Schofield and Damian Walters for there help and hospitality over the weekend and to those that support us in our racing adventures Seba Sheetmetal Austune automotive Dz racing Wyliie kart city
