18.01.2022 A brief summary/progression of how I approach knee (particularly patella tendon) rehab. Firstly I’ll note the vertical shin position of a lot of these movements. But, to be clear, I’m not saying knees can’t go past toes ever. But I find it beneficial, particularly when a knee or tendon is sore, to reduce that stimulus. In my experience, people will naturally overload the anterior/front side of the body, and neglect the back. Too much quad dominance often leads to knee pain... (whether behind the knee cap or in the tendon), so by increasing the dominance of the hips (glutes, hammy’s) you can build strength, reduce pain and likely solve the problem. But once a person has learned to extend from the hips and not just knees, I would certainly allow their knees over their toes. But in the beginning, I find that cue a useful one to get the point across. See more

18.01.2022 Much like calf strains, recurrent groin or adductor muscle strains can completely derail a season or even career for an athlete. This is one of the few muscle groups I think benefit from consistently training in isolation. I have seen some functionally strong & stable athletes on one leg, who had continued groin pain until they gained isolated adductor group strength. The following are some progressions I typically take someone through following an adductor muscle strain.

17.01.2022 Thanks for the reminder @mickhughes.physio. People should also note, you can replace ACL with any injury you can think of. There are many known factors for every injury, so if you vaccinate yourself against them, you’re less likely to get injured right? #teamrehab #correctiveexercise #functionalmedicine #rehabtime #rehabilitation #sportsinjury #injuryprevention #chiropractor #chiropractic #injuryrecovery #injuryrehab #physio #physiotherapist #physiolife #dpt #strengthcoach #strengthening #hamstringinjury #exerciseoftheday #exercisescience #acl #physiotherapy #shoulderpain #athletictrainer #hamstring #sportsrehab #rotatorcuff #physicaltherapist #physicaltherapy #athletictraining

16.01.2022 A recurring calf strain can be incredibly frustrating for anyone active. Due to the two calf muscles we have and their different functions, it’s important to isolate which area you’ve hurt and when that will be a problem. Often with a gastroc strain, you can walk and even jog comfortably very early on. But when you get to quicker speeds you break down again. That’s why I have a progressive assessment/treatment module like this one, to ensure we do things right the first time and don’t miss anything.

13.01.2022 1 week until this happens and I can’t wait! If you haven’t signed up yet, do yourself a favour, I’d love to meet you!

10.01.2022 Throw back to The First Injury Proof Seminar on tendinopathy. with Ebonie Rio Number 1 takeaway: tendons respond to load....if loading doesn’t change symptoms (for good or bad) it’s probably not a tendon injury (once you’re sure you’ve chosen the right load). #teamrehab #correctiveexercise #functionalmedicine #rehabtime #rehabilitation #sportsinjury #injuryprevention #chiropractor #chiropractic #injuryrecovery #injuryrehab #physio #physiotherapist #physiolife #dpt #strengthcoach #strengthening #hamstringinjury #exerciseoftheday #exercisescience #acl #physiotherapy #shoulderpain #athletictrainer #hamstring #sportsrehab #rotatorcuff #physicaltherapist #physicaltherapy #athletictraining

09.01.2022 When your 18 month old son is still asleep at 0940 on Sunday morning, you catch up some reading.

06.01.2022 With return of sport ramping up, there has been lots of talk about injuries occurring from doing too much too soon. So I thought that was a timely reminder to share this again. Microdosing is something I’ve found really useful for rehab, but also for performance. Endurance is important to many sports, but it’s not the only quality you need to develop.

04.01.2022 What a way to start the weekend. Thanks @collaborate_sports for letting me be a part of this.

04.01.2022 @pontifex_physio_baseball in order to develop rotational power and throwing/hitting velocity in overhead athletes, we focus on converting traditional or gym strength into function. One aspect of this is the ability to separate the hips and shoulders at the correct time. In hitting, as shown here, the timing of back hip rotation is important to allow the athlete to block using a stable front leg. The concept of separation is also really useful in rehabbing low back pain. St...ability or stiffness should be a choice, not the default. #teamrehab #correctiveexercise #functionalmedicine #rehabtime #rehabilitation #sportsinjury #injuryprevention #chiropractor #chiropractic #injuryrecovery #injuryrehab #physio #physiotherapist #physiolife #dpt #strengthcoach #strengthening #hamstringinjury #exerciseoftheday #exercisescience #acl #physiotherapy #shoulderpain #athletictrainer #hamstring #sportsrehab #rotatorcuff #physicaltherapist #physicaltherapy #athletictraining See more

04.01.2022 Really excited to have secured my place on the Aus/NZ version of this course. I believe this is ground breaking and am certain it will make me a better practitioner. Check out @collaborate_sports @danhowells82 for more info, but I strongly encourage high performance staff in Aus/NZ to sign up.

03.01.2022 Rolling something we do all the time, but it can actually be harder or not as ideal as you might think. If you are suffering from the ability to properly sequence a roll can be inhibited due to pain and thus very difficult or even exacerbate the problem might see as a therapist from @stopchasingpain #teamrehab #correctiveexercise #functionalmedicine #rehabtime #rehabilitation #sportsinjury #injuryprevention #chiropractor #chiropractic #injuryrecovery #injuryrehab #physio #physiotherapist #physiolife #dpt #strengthcoach #strengthening #hamstringinjury #exerciseoftheday #exercisescience #acl #physiotherapy #shoulderpain #athletictrainer #hamstring #sportsrehab #rotatorcuff #physicaltherapist #physicaltherapy #athletictraining
