25.01.2022 Shifting the Covid Kilos doesn’t have to be complicated. I used to follow loads of fads to try and shift weight. All it did was make me fatter. The industry preys on those that are vulnerable and looking for the next best thing. Their marketing sucks you in with hollow promises, and you believe something is healthy because they say so, then you eat loads of it because it’s good for you The fact is just keeping it simple, removing anything processed and just eating real f...ood, not clean food, REAL FOOD!! Even the word clean does my head in, I am guilty using that wording in the past. If its processed, the nutritional value id decreased. This is a super easy meal to make, even easier to eat. How many calories? Who knows, they should be eaten not counted. This is just portion controlled. I eat 100g of protein and 2 cups of veggies for dinner. Please don’t feel your weight loss journey needs to be complicated. Make small simple changes, but most of all just eat real food. No shakes, no juicing..just REAL food. CHICKEN TENDERS WITH SALSA Ingredients * Chicken tenders, scored deeply with a knife 1cm apart. * fresh lime, juiced * Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper * Olive oil Salsa * 1 ripe avocado roughly diced * 1 small shallot chopped * lime juiced * diced red capsicum * bunch Corriander chopped * Tabasco sauce to taste * Sea salt to taste * A drizzle of olive oil (I use a chilli Olive oil) Methods 1. Score the chickens tenders with a knife, apply the lime with a generous amount of salt and pepper, rubbing into the chicken thoroughly with a drizzle of olive oil. Set aside while you prepare the avocado salsa. 2. Prepare the salsa. 3. Cook the chicken tenders over a hot grill, turning as required. 4. I never give anyone something I know they cant do, I know what my members are capable of and it alway brings me joy seeing them keep chipping away at the mental block, it just start with one. It took some encouragement but she got the exercise done right at the end when she was at her most fatigued.... Thats how we role, thats what makes me proud. But here’s something for you to consider: did you know you can wake yourself back up without coffee ... Enter the Reticular Activation System (RAS)- your body's natural "coffee factory" which is designed to wake up your brain. Interestingly, the RAS of your brain is connected to your tongue ligaments! Now the gateway into your RAS is actually through your vestibular system or your ears. Your vestibular system is the first sensory system that forms when we are born. It is linked to how your brain perceives its environment in relation to gravity, and therefore clearly related to movement. When you activate your vestibular system, the reticular activating system engages, which in turn "wakes up" your brain There is a simple exercise we can do to accomplish this activation by accessing our Deep Front Line, going from the bottom of your feet and all the way to the top of your head For this sequence, all you’ll need is a @Naboso_technology mat and your tongue. As usual, we are going to start with our feet shoulder-width apart. Find your foot tripod, and make sure your ribcage is stacked over your pelvis Step one - short foot Push your toes into the floor, activating the Deep Front Line, and tying into the rest of the chain that goes to the top Step two- engage the feet Lift the pelvic floor - when you lift the pelvic floor, match it with an exhalation. As you're exhaling, put your tongue into the roof of the mouth or palate.. The pendulum swing can be hard to master, but he has picked it up so quick, along with the clean. We are working on the Jerk phase with the leg dips that is comfortable for him with his balance not having any toes and limited range in his ankle. ... 22.01.2022 I am very proud to announce that Rella’s Hub has invested in a lifesaving piece of equipment, a Defibrillator! It is a piece of equipment I hope to never use, but I felt it necessary to have one for our community. I believe it should be compulsory for fitness facilities to have one. The closest one to me was too far away for my liking, so over lockdown I took inventory of equipment and sold anything we don’t use to help fund the purchase. About 20,000 Australian will experi...ence a cardia arrest outside of hospital and sadly, only 10 percent of cardiac arrest victims survive. Those numbers are astounding. I have a close friends who’s life was saved by one, so it was a no brainer and worth the investment for Rella’s Rella’s hub prides itself on being a safe environment for all our members. We want everyone to know your health and safety is our number one priority when you enter our facility.

20.01.2022 In November we are setting up a team to support this amazing cause. I personally know Rebecca Maitland and watched the devastating effect of this stroke. She is one amazing human being. Rebecca used to be a paramedic and I still remember seeing her at midnight on the Mentone cliffs looking over the beach when she pulled in in the Ambulance. Not long after this is when she has a massive stroke that should have taken her life. She is one hell of a fighter, so it is a no bra...iner to be involved in this amazing cause. 16.01.2022 I hope this brings you some inspiration. Robert Wilson just continues to surpass his goals every time he sets out to do something. Thursday before the comp I wanted him to believe that he could do the lift in front of people so we set up a mock competition. He got 36 reps. I was never worried about the reps it was just having him stand in front of strangers and achieve something he thought he would never do. He became our first ever disabled athlete to compete in a Girevo...y Sport Australia competition. It is hard enough being abled bodied, but when your balance is compromised its even harder. I am so beyond proud of what he achieved yesterday and PB’d with 41 reps. He then went on to be a part of our relay team. I enjoy lifting for myself, but I love it even more when I see my athletes achieve far beyond what they thought possible. Congratulations Rob, it is an honour to coach you and be your friend. I am so humbled that you put your trust in me when you didn’t think you could ever achieve anything. The world is your oyster now. I can’t wait to see what else you can achieve in the sport. 16.01.2022 Always remember, it is impossible to be out of shape unless your emotions, lifestyle and habits encourage it! I understand the struggles of being out of shape. The past nine months have made me look at myself, how I live my life and what I am willing to put up with, being my worst enemy for so long. I decided to take control of my emotions, lifestyle and habits, making a massive change to my overall wellbeing and ultimately, how I look and feel.... I felt like a fraud for so long. How can I inspire and encourage others to work on their health and wellbeing if I wasn't being a leader and working on my own? My path of self-destruction was epic, emotionally eating and drinking all the wrong things, pushing my sick body beyond limits. I have years of ingrained hatred and loathing for myself of never feeling adequate; that is what society was projecting on me that I won't and never will be good enough. Even with success, I felt like a failure. Dealing with emotional turmoil and letting go of attachment will always be a work in progress. I work with a professional who helps me with this; I would be dead without her. There will always be that voice that says "see I told you, Cindy; you aren't good enough." It's how I choose to handle it now that makes the difference. It is not easy to make changes, but I can tell you it's harder to stay the way you are. You will always slip, I do, but I get back up and start again. I didn't get out of shape overnight, and I am certainly not going to get in shape overnight. There is no magic pill or potion, just a choice to work on these three things, emotion, lifestyle & Habits. So I encourage you to be inspired to make a change if you feel out of shape. The good news for those that lived outside the 5km bubble can now attend outdoor sessions!!! BONUS and amazing that I can now see you in person instead of Zoom. I am working hard behind the scenes to make sure your outdoor experience is enjoyable, purchasing mats for you to train on, borrowing a Marquee for those rainy days. There will still be access to toilet facilities and ...of course the water fountain. We have a strict COVID plan in place, so the same rules apply. If you have any symptoms please stay home. I am certainly no guru, but over the years of learning and loosing the attachment to Fads has been one of the best decisions I have made. I use to smash a shake in the mornings for convenience, now I choose to have it raw in a bowl. The convenience of having a shake or a smoothie on the go is appealing to many busy people, but stopping, slowing down and eating your breakfast can be one of ...the better strategies for weight loss. Mindful eating instead of scoffing it down, taking the time to enjoy the flavours and textures. 14.01.2022 I am super proud of this girl. She certainly loves to challenge herself as much as her coach does. Only a month ago we introduced her to doubles to try and help her singles lifting. Doubles is challenging when your bum is closer to the ground, trying to swing 2 kettlebells between your legs is hard work. For the last comp of the year #revelsandrelays I left it up to her to decide what she wanted to do and she chose not only doubles but 10 minute of OALC with the 16kg.... Not long to prepare, but I know her ability and lets face itI’m her coach, and my coach has taught me so well over the years to pass on his knowledge. Well she blew me away with her strength and determination to finish an I couldn’t be prouder of her achievement not only on the weekend but over her Kettlebell journey. I know 2021 will be one amazing year for her. Boxing is one of my passions, it’s more than just hitting, there is an art form to throwing a punch, it’s both attacking and defending and it’s has so much to give outside of the ring. It’s one of my favourite the full body movement activities ... Great for building lean muscle (I had great arms way before kettlebell sport ) Great for mindful movement Great cardio Just to name a few you can do anywhere that will raise your heart rate. The best thing is you don’t need a bag or gloves to do it, even if a limb is injured, you still have 3 good limbs that can move to keep you active. 05.01.2022 We have a new athlete in our little kettlebell Garage! Today’s session with Robert Wilson we discussed what he would like to work towards! You can imagine my surprise when he asked ‘could I lift kettlebells like you’? ... I think my head almost exploded with excitement and pride that he wants to challenge himself to do an actual kettlebell competition. That is MASSIVE!! Now I think about it it’s perfect for him and what we have been working on. Balance, coordination, strength, endurance & power are all elements of kettlebell sport. Just because he has a disability doesn’t mean he can’t do it. So I showed him a few moves and boom he’s already got a great action overhead. I can’t wait for his first comp! The roof will be blown off with the amount of support he will have. Never settle for can’t, because when you think you can’t...yes you can I believe he will be the first disabled athlete in @girevoysportaus leading the charge being an inclusive organisation. 05.01.2022 I can’t help but share what @robjwilson24 does. He continually blows me away with what he wants to achieve. I hope that me sharing his journey will inspire many others disabled even abled to better their health and wellbeing through movement. When you give the body confidence and train it in a safe space anything is possible. For 16 years he thought after having his toes amputated that was it.... Knowing through the NDIS I have given him confidence and a new lease on life makes me want to be an even better coach and continually learning to better help clients like Rob. On Friday it was an honour to present Rob with not one but Conqueror medals he completed over the past few months walking and riding his bike. He is like a baby learning to walk again. He has now completed The Great Ocean Road (240km) and Ring of Kerry (200km) that is a massive effort for him.
