12.01.2022 TAREN POINT - Retirement Village proposes hundred million dollar expansion. A new proposal to expand a retirement village has been lodged with the Sutherland Sh...ire Council that will eventually be deferred to the State Government for determination due to its cost. Anglicare, which currently runs Woolooware Shores Retirement Village on Alexander Avenue, has lodged a near $190 million development proposal to expand its facility into a neighbouring and vacant block of land. The vacant land that sits behind Apollo Motorhome Holidays on Bay Road will be transformed into having, 182 'Independent Living Units' consisting of 7, one bedroom units; 101, two bedroom units and 74, three bedroom units 48 bed High Care Aged Facility; Recreation and community facilities including a bowling green, walkways, gardens and a community centre and cafe for use by residents; and Car parking for 246 cars and 1 ambulance space The six buildings will be constructed across 3.2 hectares of land with a new vehicle and pedestrian bridge to create a link to the existing facility on Pacific Parade, however main access will be via a new road to Bay Road. The development is currently before Sutherland Shire Council but due to its size and cost it will be mandatory to defer it to the State Government for determination.
