23.01.2022 Getting to the start line is part of the challenge of an adventure race. SO MUCH STUFF!!! #worldstoughestrace #scouts #teamscouts #travelheavy #fiji #ecochallenge

20.01.2022 Who are Team Scouts Australia? Meet Myall - Captain Scout History: Cubs & Scouts with 2nd Mortdale, Venturers with 1st Narwee (Queen's Scout awardee), Rovers with 1st Narwee, Region Team South Metropolitan Region, Vic Scouts MTB Team... Back in the 90's, Myall (aka "El Capitano", aka "Yes I have my ID", aka "I wonder if I'll have 3 day growth after this 10 day race") had a dream - to team up with Hulk Hogan & defeat The Dudley Boyz to win the WWF Tag Team title! Luckily, he changed the TV channel & stumbled on a show called Eco Challenge. Realising this was probably a more realistic option, he set the plan in motion to one day take on the challenge that is the #WorldsToughestRace ! An accomplished adventure racer, Myall has competed in multiple long format races both in Australia & New Zealand, most recently competing in Coast to Coast 2020 BC (you know, Before Corona). Never being able to sit still for very long (or at all really), Myall founded Team Scouts as a way of putting his Scouting learned skills to the test. It's also provided many an opportunity to bust out in song and blame it on sleep deprivation if the singing is no good or the lyrics too obscure (Hello Ziggy Stardust). Taking on this challenge also provided the first time that Myall & Bear Grylls were ever seen in the same place. Although rumoured that Myall & Bear were the same person as they look very similar, it turned out that they are really two different people who move in two v e r y different circles. Did Myall lead the team to the finish line? Was packing his razor really necessary? Did he again mistake an energy gel for vaseline? All this & more will be revealed when The #WorldsToughestRace drops on Amazon Prime Video

20.01.2022 Its time to see if Team Scouts Australia are prepared enough for the #Worldstoughestrace!! To be honest you may not see much of us but we were there we literally have the scars to prove it. Watch it NOW on Amazon Prime Video.

19.01.2022 Now that we've had a chance to relive the race, time for some recapping! ***The time we nearly took Gippsland Adventure out of Eco-Challenge**** With nerves having built up over days of gear and competency checks, packing and repacking, and getting to know traditional Fijian boats on dry land, we were all relieved to have made it to the start line. Getting out of the river and into the ocean was chaos for everyone, but especially for teams like us who drew a number that plac...ed them at the back of the pack. We all knew a busted boat was a race ender, so from the very beginning survival had to be balanced with speed. Not long after Bear Grylls called the start of the race, the elite Aussie team Thought Sports (racing as Gippsland Adventure) moved out in front of Team Scouts' camakau, resulting in our pointy-ended boat leaving a hole (above the waterline) in theirs. Both team captains exchanged reactions to the problem at hand. As the Facebook-friendly version goes, Scouts Australia’s captain said "Don't worry about cutting us off, and I'm afraid it appears we have left a small hole in your boat", to which their captain replied "no bother about the hole; enjoy the rest of your race". Or something like that. In all seriousness we felt awful. This was only a few minutes into racing and we'd potentially ruined the chances of Australia's strongest team! Unfortunately the team sustained a few more holes from other boats that were below the water line, requiring them to urgently pull over to attempt repairs. It really shows the strength of the team that having lost potentially hours for repairs and finding themselves at the very back of the field, they clawed their way up to the top ten by the time they got to the paddleboards. When we saw them paddle past us on the way to the island hike we were more than a little bit relieved! It's phenomenal to see how far those guys got up the ladder, and one truly impressive comeback that most didn't get to see. We've got recollections to come, but given we almost ended Gippsland Adventure’s race before it had begun, we'd like to start with a huge congratulations to this bunch of legends on their absolutely blistering pace and incredible result. Watch #WorldsToughestRace on Amazon Prime to see just how well they did.

15.01.2022 Who are Team Scouts Australia? Meet Bernard - Lead Navigator Scout History: Cubs, Scouts & Venturers with 2nd Gymea (Queen's Scout Awardee), Rovers with The Gymea... A founding member of Team Scouts, Bernard (aka Bernardo, aka "We need to head this way", aka "Sorry, my bad, we need to go the other way") is a seasoned adventure racer, having competed in several 24 & 48 hour races over the last few years. Having spent the lead up to the race "competing" through many Contiki, Topdeck & Intrepid tours of Europe, Bernard was primed & ready to take on the #WorldsToughestRace . He did grow a little nervous in the early stages though when it became apparent that boat racing would actually involve boats this time! The thick jungles of Fiji are difficult to navigate at the best of times, let alone when you're running on zero sleep, energy bars & 400% humidity. Thankfully Bernard's skills proved superior & there were only a couple of "geographically misplaced" incidents......each day....for 10 days.. Did Bernard navigate the team to victory? Did they instead finish the race in Vanuatu rather than Fiji? Did he really navigate the entire race using a cork, sewing needle & bucket of water? Tune in Saturday when the #WorldsToughestRace drops on Amazon Prime Video

15.01.2022 Who are Team Scouts Australia? Meet Marni - Chief motivator & Nutrition. Guide/Scout history: Brownies & Guides with 2nd Penshurst, Venturers & Rovers with 1st Narwee, Activities Team South Metropolitan Region. ... Owner of adventure racing's brightest bike, Marni (aka "Marns" aka "Marni Massive", aka "sleep monsters are my friends") is absolutely no stranger to the world of adventure racing. Having competed in multiple 48hr Geoquest races & the 10 day 2016 XPD, she's known as an incredibly fierce competitor, willing to do whatever it takes to get her team (or, perhaps more accurately, drag her team) to the finish line. Assuming the role of chief motivator for #WorldsToughestRace , Marni isolated herself for two weeks (back before the cool kids were doing it) to read up on the works of famed motivational speaker Swami Motivatus Impressionatus. In this time she developed her own words of wisdom & encouragement to share with the team whenever things got tough. Having used up all of these phrases within the first few hours of the race, she resorted to the tried & tested Aussie phrase of "pull ya finger out & get moving!" along with constantly asking "what are your legs?". Did Marni keep the team motivated? Does she look as stunning at the end of 10 days of racing as she did at the start? Will someone finally answer "What are your legs?!" properly?? All will be revealed on Saturday when #WorldsToughestRace drops on Amazon Prime Video
