22.01.2022 Race recap. TOUGHEST MUDDER 12 hour Lardner Park Melbourne. Extremely stoked to have competed in this great event again this year. I had a ball. ... The weather certainly through a few challenges at us with wind, rain and hail though out the day/night. Temperatures got down to 7 deg (feels like 4) and with the wind chill and freezing water obstacles it out a few people on their bums. Luckily I was able to persevere and complete 65km (8 laps of the 8km course). Keeping a fairly consistent lap time across the race enabled me to hang on to achieve (what was a dream to me) Worlds Toughest Mudder contender status and my 40 mile badge. So stoked!! Finished in 14th position overall!!! Race nutrition was great. Massive shoutout to CrampFix for their support heading into this event. Using Crampfix I was able to get through 12 hours of gruelling obstacles and weather with ZERO cramping. So thats so much guys. This stuff is amazing and every one should get on board. Big shout out to my mud brother Nick Morrow who completed Toughest with me and collected his 10th Mudder headband (awesome stuff) and smashed out 24km and 3 fun filled laps. Well done bro. Proud of you. Thanks also to Kent and Liz Morrow for the lift down, to the track and the awesome breakfast!! Thanks to my amazing wife Kez Rowell for the support from home with 2 kids under 3 hanging off you throughout the night. Your messages and videos where amazing when I came into pit, especially in the early hours when I was the coldest and most tired.. your video message Immy, gave me a boost, made me emotional but helped get the job done. Babes you truely are one in a million. One of theses days Id love to have you actually put crew for me. I reckon youd kill it. Came through with zero injurys, just extremely stiff and sore....fathers day massage voucher came in very handy babes. 19.01.2022 PRODUCT REVIEW At this mornings Crossfit session I got to test out the new Globewalker Thermoactive Athletic shirt by Brubeck. Luckily enough today's workout was the start of the Crossfit Open, a world wide online competition to find the worlds fittest Crossfit Athlete. The workouts are always tough so was a great opportunity to test this new gear. ... Straight out of the box I was impressed with the product. The Brubeck is made in Poland and is high quality. It's material is stretchy and therefore form fitting. The material used is 62% polyamide and 28% polyester and is a double layer system designed to wick the sweat away and keep you dry/cool at the same time. It's also anti bacterial which is a plus as well as having ventilation zones to let the heat out. My workout was a very sweaty and intensive 20 mins. Usually I train in a tee shirt or tank top and I get extremely hot.... and therefore the shirt may come off during a long session as I get so damn hot. With the Brubeck shirt, I didn't need to as I didn't get the uncomfortable feeling of overheating nor did I feel like taking it off. An added bonus with the movements in the workout (dumbbell snatch and burped box jump) the shirt didn't ride up or annoy me at all. There is a variety of colours available for men and women and are also available in muscle tank versions. The Brubeck also comes with a reflective component as well making those late night or early morning runs alot safer..... All in all, I certainly recommend the Brubeck Athletic shirt for your choice of athletic activity whether it be Crossfit/gym, trail running or hiking. 12.01.2022 Bit of pre event maintenance by my amazing Physio, Shane Maloney yesterday. Training through Little niggles isnt always the best way. With 30 odd days until go time will be training smart to get myself sorted in time. 11.01.2022 Just a very quick THANKYOU to everyone who sent me words of support before and during my trek and congrats afterwards. That pretty much wraps up this page for now..... When I get some spare time i really want to jot down some thoughts for my own memory down the track but I'll throw it up on my blog site when I have if your interested. ... Some extremely positive signs coming in to the last 8 weeks before #toughestmudder #melbourne in October. Got to test out some @crampfix doing my absolute best to bring on some cramping. Haha. 03.01.2022 Review time. Recently I won a box of these babies. The No Way Bar from ATP Science (choc mint) Initially I didnt know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. ... The bar its self is kind of a marshmallow but Id say a chewy version. Pretty tasty and a great guilt free snack option when your on the go or like me at work in the van.... 02.01.2022 Product Review - TacFit Solutions Australia Training Vest Recently I was lucky enough to win a Tacfit Vest and some other tacfit goodies which Ive been loving but Ive only just had a chance to use the vest in a long chipper workout. I made up a workout with some of the stuff Id usually do with a vest to test it out. ... For time with Tacfit Vest 50 strict pull ups 50 push up 5km treadmill run 25 25mt prowler push. (Sled+25kg) 64.58 Points to mention Vest was really comfortable. Zero rubbing Limited movement while running Looks badass Room for heaps of Morale Patches (must get some more) Water resistant material Easy Velcro adjustment Vest came with 4kg powdercoated steel plates and I believe there is also a plate upgrade to 8kg available.
