25.01.2022 And that's a wrap on Tea Tree Players Picture Palace 'The Inspector General'! Next week we have the orginal 'Frankenstein'. "It's Alive!" and so are bookings! https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=648424

25.01.2022 A delightful review of My Wife's Family, with thanks to Barry Hill on behalf of Stage Whispers : During the lockdown period for Covid-19 we all baked, crafted, gardened and, of course, spent time watching Stan, Netflix and bingeing on Binge. For a long while our theatre exposure was restricted to old YouTube versions of plays, musicals, operas and ballet. Lately, some companies have presented virtual theatre to keep the Arts alive in Adelaide. The Adelaide Repertory Theatre h...Continue reading

25.01.2022 2020 hasn't been the year we had all been hoping for, has it? Disappointment has been something we've all had in common, as well as uniting (at at least 4 square metres apart) to stay safe and look out for one another is the other main thing we've all had in common this year. We've missed all of our loyal patronage and followers very, very much, but we'll be back with gusto when it is deemed safe for all concerned to once again bring live entertainment to the city of Tea Tree... Gully to its residents and beyond. We have now officially made the decision that there will not be any more LIVE productions for the remainder of this year, but our scheduled 2020 season will continue to go ahead, currently with hopes of re launching in early 2021 - although, time will tell us what crystal balls haven't been able to before we can make any firm confirmations. Season ticket holders and casual purchased seats, remain reserved and will be honoured when we officially can set production dates, although at any stage if you wish to seek a refund, you can of course leave a message with the Box Office phone line (ph : 8289 5266) or e-mail : [email protected]. With that being said, our scheduled season has now moved into 2021, but we're giving 2020 a breath of life regardless in the form of bringing you our brand of entertainment in its "next best thing" form. one of the more popular productions of 2019 was by far, our Radio play presentation, Vintage Hitchcock : a LIVE radio play, as directed by Selena Carr. We're back at it again! with a group of 8 of our well known and beloved stage performers to bring the radio play format back to life, with another production staged as a LIVE radio play (albeit a delayed LIVE performance) - if its best not to leave the house unless you have to, we've made plans to come to you! "My Wife's Family" is a farcical comedy in three acts, by Fred Duprez and has been adapted for the stage by our own Selena Carr, who is back in the directorial chair ready to bring the laughs. This production will be recorded LIVE and shared via our website, this facebook page and links will be sent out in the online and postal mailouts, for you to enjoy! Rehearsals have begun and we're currently preparing to publish online at an estimated date of Late September, but we'll be keeping you all up to date until then! We also have another wave of entertainment planned, which we hope to be able to provide and publicise within the guidelines of our Covid-Safe plan, although, we're just keeping an eye on the news, undoubtedly, just like all of you are before we make any announcements, but please keep an eye on our page! So, as far as 2020 goes, the season consists of "Any number can die" and "my wife's family" - hopefully i'm not the only one to find a silent amusement with that combo!

19.01.2022 A video treat for you all! Steve Weyland hasn't been on our stage since 2012, but many of our loyal patronage would quite easily remember him. (features some mild coarse language and mild violence)

11.01.2022 Another great review! This one from David Smith, from the sensational Theatre Association of South Australia. Selena Carr adapted and directed this script and turned it into a smooth-flowing and entertaining romp which took us back to the days when radio plays were the entertainment centre of many households. Consequently, the production was a piece of our social history, along with plenty of amusing, if somewhat quaintly dated dialogue. What was a major change for this comp...any was that this is only available on YouTube. Full credit to the Tea Tree Players for creating this production during the Covid restrictions. Like a couple of other Adelaide companies, they have made the switch in order to keep their group active, and maintain the contact with their established audience. This translation from stage to screen was particularly successful. That was mainly due to the clear direction, the radio-play nature of the piece, and the obvious skills of the technical team. Samuel Creighton’s cinematography was crisp and his editing made the transitions seamless. That was coupled with the effective sound and lighting by Mike Phillips. The sound effects were critical in this presentation of a radio play in which the cast shared the FX jobs. Fortunately they were well shot and clearly heard. The casting was impressive. All had convincing radio voices and several of the cast showed admirable variety as they presented more than one character, principally Adrian Heness as the Narrator and Willie Nagg, and Rhi Shapcott as Sally Gay and Ima Nagg. Shapcott’s characters were especially well defined one being mellow and fluent, and the other high-pitched and grating. As we can deduce from these names, the style of comedy was patently clear. The verbal gags followed suit. Among a generally well balanced cast, others to impress were Kieran Drost as the smooth Jack Nagg, Theresa Dolman as Arabella, Hayley Mitchell as Stella Gay and Steve Weyland as Doc Knott. Damon Hill impressed, too, as the whining and down-trodden Noah Nagg. The plot was typically farcical, and the whole cast managed to keep the pace and structure pretty well. This was a successful and commendable translation of the Tea Tree Players preferred form of presentation, from stage to screen. It is well worth looking at it, in our own time and in the safety of our own homes. Playing on You Tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bkn_4ndb9bo

08.01.2022 Its now less than ONE WEEK away until this incredible ensemble, as lead by the multi talented Selena Carr will be available for your online streaming amusement! My Wife's Family is absolutely hilarious and this Radio play format only adds to the joy! Be sure to be here from 7pm, next Sunday night to hit the PLAY button!

08.01.2022 Tonight would have been the night that 'Happy Birthday' made our opening night one full of riotous laughter and masses of good fun had by all! Obviously, things have changed and that won't be happening. But, the show will go on! - We're an exceptionally fortunate Theatrical company that has the ability to postpone as opposed to cancel due to our Theatre being ours for exclusive usage. Our hearts definitely go out to other local companies that unfortunately had to say goodbye ...to many months of hard work because not going ahead with the show during this time, unfortunately lost them their venues. The Happy Birthday set is ready and the cast are well prepared to go on, but obviously, we're all uncertain as to when we will be able to do that, as we join together, to stand apart as we collectively ride out this wave in our efforts to flatten the curve of Covid-19, to keep us all as safe and as healthy as we can be. Last Fridays AGM was a small affair, with a business manager present via phone and other members opting not to come due to a variety of personal and work related reasons, all of which were very understandable, that contributed their thoughts and opinions and had their voices heard in advance. We have a new Committee! (pictured below) and although upcoming productions aren't presently on the agenda, the future of Tea Tree Players means there's always things to talk about and make a plan for. In the meantime, please stay safe and know that despite distance and being socially isolated by necessity, you're a part of our community and we'll all be here for you as soon as the lights go green again!

We have missed our patrons very much throughout 2020. - Our ... We can't stage it for you live, but, nothing has stopped us recording it for your home viewing enjoyment! Production Synopsis When your Doctor is a veterinarian turned piano tuner, it is perhaps best not to do as the Doctor ordered. A cyclone of merriment ensues when the family of Jacks wife Stella arrive at their house in the country. When an interfering mother-in-law discovers what she believes is a plan to deceive her daughter, missing notes and misunderstandings result in a grandbaby being mistaken for a baby grand, an ageing star for a mistress and a horse Doctor for a family physician.
