25.01.2022 Looks to be widespread internet outage on Tamborine Mountain. Seems to originate with Telstra but it's affecting all ADSL/ADSL2 SERVICES regardless of ISP. ETA to restored service is 10am tomorrow at this stage. Hopefully that's a worst case scenario.
24.01.2022 We are currently experiencing issues with receiving SMS messages. The issue is isolated to some iPhones which are trying to send the message as an iMessage and not converting to a text message automatically. Apologies if you've tried to get in touch but haven't been successful, we're looking into the issue as a matter of urgency.

23.01.2022 Are you still rocking a Yahoo email account? If you are, change your password NOW. Every single Yahoo account (that's about 3 billion) was compromised and Yahoo kept quiet until now to let people know the extent of it. Change your password and any account you have that you use your Yahoo account to log into (and use the same password), change them now too. Nothing may have happened yet but with your password out in the wild anything could happen at any time. Our professional advice? Ditch Yahoo altogether and switch to Gmail. Yahoo is way past its use by date and is just painful. Share this post to anyone who still Yahoos.
22.01.2022 Scam email doing the rounds about upgrading to Windows 10. If you receive it, delete it, it's ransomware which will lock you out of all your files. Trust us, you don't want to be hit with ransomware. To upgrade to Windows 10 the safe way, get in touch with The Tech Doctor.

18.01.2022 ***ADVISORY*** The latest Windows update has reportedly caused serious issues on some systems. Build 1809 which is rolling out this month has been reported as deleting files from the User home folders (Documents, Pictures etc) in a number of cases. Not a lot is known about this issue or what the probable cause is right now but our advice is to backup your important files now, just in case. You should regularly back up your files anyway but if you haven't done it for a while, ...now is the time! Microsoft haven't responded to these claims at this time. See more

06.01.2022 MacOS Catalina is out now, if your Mac can run Mojave then Catalina should run fine. Something to be mindful of though is if you currently run Mac Office 2011 you will also need to upgrade to a more modern version as it won't run under Catalina, in fact many (if not all) 32bit programs won't run under Catalina. 05.01.2022 **Christmas trading hours** The Tech Doctor will be closed from December 20 through to Jan 1 and reopening Jan 2. Until then it's business as usual so if you need anything, give us a call or shout out and we'll get you sorted in time for Christmas.
05.01.2022 Windows 7 has finally reached its end of life and will no longer receive updates, so what does this mean? Here are some frequently asked questions... Q. Will Windows 7 stop working? A. No, Windows 7 will continue to work along with all your programs, for now. Q. What will happen if I don't upgrade to Windows 10? A. Initially, nothing. Eventually programs will stop working with Windows 7 as software vendors focus on compatibility with Windows 10.... Q. Will I be more vulnerable to virus or malware attacks if I don't upgrade? A. Short answer, yes, but with caveats. The virus world rapidly changes, on a daily basis in fact and with Windows 7 no longer receiving security patches your computer will, over time, be more vulnerable to this rogue software. Q. Should I panic? A. No. You should however, give serious consideration to upgrading when you can to ensure you have the safest and most secure operating system. Use caution when on the internet and never click on links from untrusted sources. If you think something doesn't smell right, delete it. Q. Is upgrading easy? A. For the most part, yes! There are some factors to consider but if your machine is running well then an in-place upgrade will see your machine upgraded from 7 to 10 with all your data and software untouched. Some circumstances will require a clean install but each machine is treated on a case by case basis. Q. Is my machine able to run Windows 10? A. Most likely, yes. Windows 10 is fairly flexible with what it will run on. Some older hardware may have compatibilty issues but if your PC is under 10 years old there shouldn't be any problems. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch and if you would like to book an upgrade service we'd love to help. At the time of writing this a Windows 10 licence is free if you have a valid Windows 7 licence*, all you need to pay is labour ($160 - $240 depending on complexity of upgrade).
