25.01.2022 Bit windy today for any work or fishing so doing a bit of maintenance instead. The old net let a flatty through the bottom of it in last weekend's comp so time for a new silicon replacement net. I had a spare up in the shed so now's she's ready for another 5 or so years. This is its 2nd silicon net replacement and with it sitting on the deck in the sun and having plenty of toothy and sharp gilled fish through it over the years its really paid for itself. It's pretty heavy in the hand but with the massive mouth on it, it makes netting large fish a breeze. I'd love to know how many fish have had a ride in it.

23.01.2022 Here's a little clip my good mate Camo made from our trip up north. Plenty of K's in the car, plenty of K's in the boat and a few nice fish thrown in. Good fishing, great company, Special place! https://youtu.be/vj2bQBdkdqQ

23.01.2022 Here's a taste of our epic trip up north. Double's like this on the Jigs. The Mustard Ink Vader was a standout this trip. Turns out pretty much everything loves to eat Occys. Blueys, Trout, Fingers, Jew, Trevs. Some awesome sportfishing with lots of tasty little morsels making the trip back with us.

22.01.2022 A scud missile from a recent trip up north.

21.01.2022 My good mate Camo pinned this nice Grunter on the Jig out of this show on the HDS. There's not many fish you catch up north that don't taste any good. This one found it's way onto the BBQ plate on the fire our first night away last trip.

21.01.2022 Recent trip up north produced some nice fish. This one enjoyed a 95mm Fishtrap till it pulled back. Ended up as a nice campfire dinner followed by a finger mark dessert. So good! Take me Back!

20.01.2022 Back online with the phone guys. We had a massive downpour and storm come through that soaked our swags and clothes on a recent trip north. This is the way we spent about 3hrs getting back to camp. Making the most out of a shit situation. Besides this was an epic trip with plenty of fish and an awesome few days with good mates. ... Can't wait to get back up there! See more

17.01.2022 Jeremy stoked to put this beast jewwie in the boat on our recent sounder session. It took a 4in Zman PaddlerZ on a BladeNTails 6-12lb Rod with 10lb Wilson Shock leader. Big fish on light gear. You don't always sound fish like this but you're up firing casts as soon as they scroll through.

17.01.2022 Some more Big Cat madness with the Wilson crew. Spent the last morning out on the big boat with the whole crew and then myself, Clint and Sammy commandeered a boat and snuck out for a quick arvo session. The whole team at Big Cat Reality Fishing Charters put together a really professional charter. You never have to lift a finger and the foods always awesome and you'll never go hungry. You get to visit some pretty awesome places along the way also. Check them out if your l...ooking at doing an extended reef charter. You won't be disappointed. Here's the action from the last day. Cheers https://youtu.be/GViSuY6Xhyc

16.01.2022 Had a day off in the middle of my work trip north. Booked the Wednesday in with my good mate Steve 6 weeks ago to give his newly refurbished V17 center console a workout. Got super lucky and scored glammer weather. Had a little sound and found some deeper bumps and got a chinamen straight up on the 80gr Mustad inkvader. Pulled hooks and sharks cost us some good fish then Steve nailed a cracker trout on the White Ink Vader. Played around the bombies and put some nice Trout... and Red Throat in the box on Fishtraps and then had a cruise around up in the Blue holes for a few smokings. A sweet little arvo sesh on the bomies produced another 10 eaters for the box and a full tilt run home in glamorous conditions. Cracking day with some awesome visual fishing and epic country even nailed my first Wrasse though he was on the smaller side. Need more trips up here I think. See more

16.01.2022 Sounder training this Friday from Jacob's Well. I'll be available from 10AM this Friday. Beat the wind before the weekend. If interested in getting the most from your marine electronics let me know and we can customize a session to suit your requirements. Cheers Nick

15.01.2022 Out with my good mate Richie and his cousin Chinny earlier this week for a bit of an impromptu Thready session. I let Richie do all the sounding prior to picking me up from the ramp. (I had a late cancellation for work) The boy's had already put 3 in the boat before I'd joined them and Richie had managed to early release one beside the boat with his overly expensive Boga grips ($200) so someone will hopefully catch him in the next couple of weeks and score a nice set.... Once I jumped on board Richie got a bit cocky pulling a small fish straight up. I warned him about the Orange Biscuit Fish Trap but he didn't want to listen. The Bicky produced the next 4 fish and I think butter fingers Rich was a little off it as he started releasing my fish early from the net boat side on purpose. . Joshy finished us off with a nice little fish on the Silver Herring Fish Trap. I haven't done much fishing local the last 3 months so was good to get out on the water with some good mates prior to Christmas for a catch up and put a few on the deck aswell. I'll take this opportunity to thank everyone who used my services or followed along for the ride this year and wish you all a Merry Christmas. Look forward to kicking 2020 in the balls and onward and upward for a massive 2021. Cheers Nick

15.01.2022 Some epic fish caught on our trip last week. Most of the time we jigged. The Mustard Ink Vader showed it's capable of catching just about any species once again and was probably the stand out lure. We had a fair few unstoppables, couple of sharkings and groperings as well as pulling the hooks on a few good fish just under the boat. We spent a lot of time sounding for fish and was well worth the effort. Some of the best fighting and tastiest fish in the ocean. Was an epic tr...ip with camp fire fillets each night and a few beers to top off each day. One of the best trips I've ever had. One very special place. Dad always said if you don't ask silly questions you won't get silly answers. We were off the central Queensland coast somewhere and that's all that I'll say Cheers Nick

15.01.2022 My favorite lure!

15.01.2022 Hey Guys. I'll be fishing the GCSFC Topgun Flathead comp this year. It's a competition format with the top 10 anglers from last years Flathead Classic auctioned off to fish with on the comp day. Theres some gun anglers in the pack and should be some big prize money on offer. If you would like to learn from some of the best flathead anglers in Australia in a tournament situation check out the GCSFC website for more details. Some boats you will be able to fish 3 up so grab a mate and pool your cash. It's always a great comp. Auction is Friday night the 14th live on Facebook and comp day isSunday 16th of August.

14.01.2022 Had the Top Gun Flathead tournament on yesterday. It's a little different format from most comps, where the top 10 individual finishers from the previous year Flathead classic are auctioned off to who ever bids high enough to fish with them for the day. I was lucky enough to get 2 good blokes win me in Tommy Coyle and Mick Larter. We had a fun day on the water started of slow with small fish but headed in the right direction all day small upgrades of a cm or 2 right up till... the last 10mins of fishing. We caught around 30-35 fish for the day with quite a few hi 40s and low 50s which the boys frothed on. Mick was lucky enough to smack his 2nd biggest flatty at 71cm on a Zerek 3.5in Flatshad in Baby Barra colour. Majority of our fish fell to the 3.5 and 4.5in Flatshads and the 5in Live Flash Wrigglys fished on 1/4oz heads. We finished up with 71, 56, 54, 54 and 53 for 288cm for our 5 best and enough to secure 2nd place. A big Congratulations to Guy McConnell and his crew for taking out top place and the cash and prize of Lowrance HDS 12 Live. Also congratulations to Steve Ward who took out the big fish at 88cm on the big Zerek Affinity glide bait. A big thanks to Craig and Brett and the rest of the committee members who put on a great tournament in the trying times of covid.

13.01.2022 How does a Ship with a name like this get through customs? I kept my distance today.

13.01.2022 Had an awesome trip north the last few days with my Brother Brenden Whyte and good mate Luke Cameron Some of the best fishing I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of in some of the most scenic part of our country. Once again a massive effort to get there with long drives and over 3hr boat ride to set up camp. Only saw 1 other fishing boat in 4 days! We caught some true thugs of the ocean with some crazy smokings leaving us speechless. Massive Fingers, Tuskys, Goldens, Trout, ...Queenys, huge Cod, Gts and some Grunter and Nannies thrown in for good measure. Epic arvo beers, fire and fish on the hot plate while watching the sunsets with storms rolling around us. Special times! Here’s a little taste

13.01.2022 Check out the C-Map free boating app. It's a winner

11.01.2022 My recent trip out on Big Cat Reality Charters with the Wilson crew was a cracking trip. Day 3 I spent out with Sammy and we had a slow morning session with a crazy arvo bite. Check it out here. https://youtu.be/z4zwR8ZrxX4

11.01.2022 Had the day out with Dave today for a flatty fish. He's been out with me a couple of times now chasing different species and a few PB's have hit his deck. He's a pretty excitable bloke and always a bucket of laughs. Today's target was Flathead and I asked him last night if he wanted to chase big fish or if more looking for a feed and he said he wanted a few for the esky. So we targeted the shallow water around the Jumpinpin in search of a few 50s and Dave had a cracker... day landing a few 50 and 60s with a 77 to finish the day off just after releasing his PB of 89cm. A nice day on the water with around 15 fish landed and Dave leaving a happy boy as you can see from the video. All fish today were landed on the Zerek Flash wriggly 130mm minnow and the 3.5in Zerek Flatshad. If there's a certain species you'd like to learn how to target on lures or an area you'd like to get to know a bit better, give me a ring or shoot me a message here and we can customize a session to suit your requirements. Cheers Nick 0422213669

11.01.2022 A screenshot a day till the end of June. While in isolation I thought what better way to pass the days then to share some of my favourite screenshots with a little explanation. Check back each day and see what I've got to share with you. An old Sea Plane that went down way back late 40s. Id been told about this wreck by a few of the old timers up at the pub and had spent a hell of a lot of hours out surveying looking for it. Ironically I found it taking a shortcut home one da...y. Came back a couple of days later and confirmed with the under water camera that it was the engine off the plane. Most of the fuselage has been sand blasted away over the years but this engine block and the one I found about 20m away were polished up like new. I even found a little wire netting cod that had made a home in one of the ports of the engine. First shot is when I found it at speed and 2nd at slow speed. When lockdown is over I'll be back into my on water training. Ill be traveling as well as local so send me a message with your details and location and I can add you to my notification list and let you know when ill be in your part of the world. With restrictions lifted in Queensland I can now do local training. For Brisbane and Gold Coast residents please call or message to see what Tech Fishing can offer you. Thanks Nick

10.01.2022 Had this guy around the boat yesterday for about 45mins while jigging. He came in solo and slow and we thought he may have been a bit sick. He got a few of Camo's pillies out of us feeding him by hand which was pretty cool. We realized he wasn't sick when he put on the after burners to hit a small pearly I released. Next drift we had a double hook up on small Amberjack. I fed the big fella mine and watched him spin it around in his mouth and eat it head first. Camo then we...nt to feed him his little Ambo and slipped out of his hand and takes off under the boat. The Dolphin is now chasing this amberjack around my motor leg doing backflips. Camo netted the Ambo and again goes to feed it to him and jumped out and made the motor leg again. After a minute or so the Amberjack made a mad dash across the surface while the dolphin wasn't looking and made his way to freedom. For now anyway. Was a pretty cool experience such a tame placid animal. #Please note. This story is better than the esky shot.

09.01.2022 A tasty treat coming up from a ledge to chill out for a while in the esky.

08.01.2022 When your boat stereo out performs your UE boom for Friday arvo beers. JL Audio M6 speakers providing the tunes and the mood lighting prepping to watch the donkey's donate another win.

08.01.2022 Had Nick out yesterday with his Elite Ti2 9s and ran over a bit of ground in the middle of the river at 50kph. Tracked back, marked it, spun around and marked a few fish. 1st Drift got belted but pulled hooks. Next one the Orange Biscuit Fish Trap got belted and Nick nailed this nice Jew. It's good to be able to run through a unit and see instant results. Back into it now for 2021. If you're looking to get the most from your marine electronics be sure to shoot me a messa...ge or give me a call and we can customize a session to suit your requirements. Cheers Nick 0422213669

08.01.2022 Hey Guys. I was meant to be away this weekend but the weather didn't play nice so now I'm home and have a couple of on water sessions available. Friday from 7am at Nerang River Saturday from 10am Port of Brisbane Monday from any location. ... If you're interested in getting the most from your marine electronics give me a call to discuss what Tech Fishing can offer you. Thanks Nick 0422213669

07.01.2022 A question I get asked all the time while out with clients is what's your favorite or go to lure colour. Well I just use the colour of the fish I want to catch. Seem's to go ok. I like pretty coloured fish so I use pretty coloured lures, or ones that go with my eyes!

07.01.2022 Had a great day out with Dave last week. Always good to get this kind of feedback. If you're interested in getting the most from your marine electronics hit me up and we can customize a session to suit your requirements.

06.01.2022 Whose life is this?

05.01.2022 Hey Guys. Anyone trying to get hold of me, I'm not contactable via phone at the moment. It somehow got wet in the 150mm of rain we had while in a storm from a trip up north over the last few days and now wont charge. Ive just gotten home now and will go through and reply to all the messages. PLEASE if you have a booking with me over the next week or so can you contact me via a direct message here and i can confirm our session. All of my calendar information is also in my phone. Thanks Nick

05.01.2022 Some Fingers sitting in behind a pressure point. These things like to play up and are probably my favorite table fish now. My Brother Brenden and mate Camo managed to snare a couple out of this nice school. looking forward to getting back into these fellas real soon!

03.01.2022 Marking up schools of Barra and Black Jew at this spot and had put a couple in the boat but had had a quiet spell, so I changed over to a 160mm Fishtrap and got the nibbles. This was the last thing i was expecting to show its face boat side and defiantly made me work for it on the baitcast gear! Came right out of the middle of this show on the right hand side. #rightcolourwrongspecies

03.01.2022 Had the GCSFC Flatty Dash for Cash yesterday and fished with my 2 Brothers Dave and Brenden as Lowrance Whyte Boys. Terrible conditions faced the field with our trip down the Pin greeted by 20-25kt winds and rain Conditions didn't get much better throughout the day though the rain did let up. We struggled to find those Kicker fish again this comp but had some pretty consistent mid range fish to put 316cm together for our best 5 fish. Just needed 1 or 2 with an 8 in fro...nt of it. We did all the damage on the Zerek 5 inch Flash Wrigglys fished on 1/2oz jigheads and a couple on 5in McArthy paddle tails as well. Congratulations to Team On Strike for a great bag of fish in very trying conditions and taking out the win. Danny Sands also nailed a monster 94cm fish on the big Zerek Affinity glide bait to take out biggest fish for the comp. Congratulations mate cracker fish. Thanks again to Craig and Brett and all of the other committee members who put massive time and effort to run another great comp. Looking forward to the day covid restrictions are over and can catch up with everyone for a beer after a comp again. Cheers

03.01.2022 A little vid I did with Benny Godfrey about how I use my Lowrance gear and how much I rely on it. Find. Navigate. Dominate.

02.01.2022 Always good to get this sort of feedback off prior clients. A couple of nice Jewwies for Aaron over the weekend from down Yamba way.

01.01.2022 Arts and crafts afternoon. With a sneaky little trip north planned let's hope I can get a few reefys to eat some pretty Jigs. Its always an anxious wait for the trip to start but the preperation is always one of the best parts. Can not wait!
