25.01.2022 Co-incidence. Last month we had a new client we shall call Fred Blogs (not real name) contact us. He wanted a new building to service his trucks from. To be located in a local industrial area. Yesterday had a different client contact us called Fred from ‘Blogs truck company’ (not real name) wanting some changes to his existing truck yard in the next street. They are in no way connected.

24.01.2022 Got asked to quote a job for the West Coast Eagles. Unfortunately had to decline due to time constraints. With Sue out of action (broken wrist) there is no way we could get it done in the time they wanted :(

16.01.2022 Got a client that has some factory units. Recently put a change of use application in for one of his buildings. He gets a letter back from Council saying that certain aspects of the building and other buildings on the site never actually had planning permission. So we have to apply for retrospective planning permission. Now the end of one of these buildings is 2850mm from the boundary (his own boundary to his own sites). It should be 3m. So we need to say its an existing bu...ilding that was on the site when he bought it and he never measured it to find the encroachment and they will consider a relaxation. The Council know he owns the 5 adjoining sites and this one is in the middle. I think they would like him to amalgamate them but he doesn't want to as its expensive and time consuming. Talking to the Planning officer........Oh and you will need written permission from all the neighbours. Me... are you joking our client owns the adjoining sites, hes hardly going to complain?. Never the less we still need written consent from all neighbouring properties. So your telling me he has to write a letter for the 3 adjoining properties, saying as the owner of Lots *** adjoining the site in question, I have no objections...etc No he has to write 3 separate letters of no objection, 1 for each site. I suppose they have to follow a procedure, but really how ridiculous.

13.01.2022 Have a French client wanting to fit an en suite into their existing bedroom area. The room is compromised by an awkward staircase location. She likes an open type design. Knowing shes French I jokingly suggest a 'pissoir' (the open type cast iron urinals you see in France) she laughs and says you joke but my parents do actually have one at their house! She said my partner is Australian he would go crazy if I wanted one in our house!

09.01.2022 Now the Station is done and dusted we are currently detailing a new takeaway restaurant for Rockingham and some major refurbishments to the Victoria Hotel in Toodyay.

07.01.2022 We went to take a look at the new Perth Stadium on Sunday. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a good look at the finished station as its only open when there is an event on. Apart from the woefully inadequate parking (clearly to encourage the use of public transport) its quite impressive. The gardens and children’s playgrounds are very well done.
