15.01.2022 The Terrestrial Visitor Centre is undergoing a major facelift and adding a museum, theatre room and café. During this phase of construction there will be interruptions to our opening hours. Please call ahead to confirm we are open if you plan a visit. In the mean time we will endeavour to remain open Monday - Friday 8.30am to 4.15pm.

15.01.2022 Another successful pig competition at the Boars and Bowls at the Georgetown Golf Club 2018. Total of 260 pigs caught with a combined weight of 10, 880 kgs! Well done to all competitors, volunteers and the sponsors for making the event successful.

15.01.2022 The renovations are coming along nicely at the Terrestrial Centre. The new verandah around the outside and enclosing the previously undercover area for the addition of the museum and café. Watch this space!

06.01.2022 This year Normanton will celebrate 150 years. With events spanning 5 days from 3rd August through to 8th August. Come and celebrate with markets, rodeos, train rides, gala dances and luncheons, exhibitions, town tours and even their own gun clubs "pigeon shoot". All residents, past and present, tourists and surrounding areas are all welcome to Normanton to join in the festivities of 150 years as a township.

06.01.2022 Einasleigh Police established 1900 at the request of many residents of the time with mining underway. The first appointed officer was Constable Hans Hansen transferred out of Normanton. He was housed in one of the hotels at the junction of the Einasleigh and Copperfield Rivers. The current building was brought in from Port Douglas in 1908 after requests were made for a second officer to be available. The building still stands and was officially closed in 2005.

02.01.2022 School Holidays treat at Cobbold Gorge these July holidays.

02.01.2022 The centre is closed from today until further notice as renovations are continuing along our front entrance. The new verandah is going up and some alterations around the front steps and garden.

02.01.2022 Australia Day is just around the corner. Einasleigh is hosting this year's celebrations on Sunday 26th January. The Terrestrial Visitor Centre has Australian Flag themed souvenirs: Stubby Coolers $5, Trooper style cap $15 and Bucket hats (always a favourite) $15. Be ready for the celebrations, come in and get yours now.
