22.01.2022 A puddle of water on a highway changed medical student Dinesh Palipana’s life forever. This deeply personal, inspiring and at times heartbreaking talk details how the most significant barriers to Dinesh’s medical career were the attitudes of some in the medical profession, rather than any physical challenges.

22.01.2022 George Blair-West's '3 ways to build a happy marriage and avoid divorce' talk from TEDxBrisbane now has over 1m views.

18.01.2022 For those of you who are extreme night owls, TED is kicking off a free, live and daily conversation series. Noon in New York is 2am Brisbane Time - stay up late or set the alarm - there's a fantastic line up. As COVID-19 continues to sweep the globe, it’s hard to know where to turn or what to think. Hosted by head of TED Chris Anderson and current affairs curator Whitney Pennington Rodgers, this new program will feature experts whose ideas can help us reflect and work through this time with a sense of responsibility, compassion and wisdom.

15.01.2022 If you haven't watched George Blair-West's talk from TEDxBrisbane 2017 then stop what you're doing and watch it now... If you have watched it before then stop what you're doing and watch it again.

12.01.2022 While many team building activities attempt to simulate the real world, George Hickey and John Bensley decided to incorporate it. They re-examined their city and decided to turn it into an app-based, team-building game using Brisbane's abundant, but often overlooked and under-appreciated public artworks. Check out this great talk from our 2018 event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Na84ZOrf2K0

08.01.2022 For those of us who were sleeping at 2am this morning - here is the video of the TED Connects session with Bill Gates discussing the healthcare systems we must urgently fix, particularly given the current pandemic.

We're hoping this is the first of many TEDxBrisbane Adventures.

07.01.2022 Caylie Jeffery highlights the joy, power and meaning that can come from purposeful online communities. Hear how this local author became an accidental historian after sharing a photograph on social media of old money and documents she found hidden in her century old home. Watch the full talk now.

06.01.2022 To our TEDxBrisbane Community. As you know, the global spread of the COVID-19 virus is having a significant impact on communities across the world, including the global TED and TEDx communities. The flagship TED Conference in Vancouver (which the TEDx community lovingly refer to as Big TED) has been postponed from April to July, with contingency plans being put into place to host it virtually if the situation is not stable by then.... Similarly, TEDx events around the world are being cancelled or postponed to late 2020 in response to these dramatic global events. While we don't know precisely how this pandemic will play out, we do know that our TEDxBrisbane tribe can play a role in supporting our respective communities, and engineering some positive impact during this time. Right now we are taking steps to find a new event date later in 2020. We are engaging with global TEDx organisers, and feeling inspired by discussions about embracing this situation as an opportunity to innovate, experiment with digital platforms and trial new ideas for connection opportunities in-between live in-person events. Stay tuned for more information. We thank you for your understanding. Our TEDxBrisbane team will be doing all we can to bring you an exciting TEDxBrisbane 2020 event later in the year, and hopefully, some innovative digital engagement opportunities between now and then. Stay safe, The TEDxBrisbane Team
