Showing the original ring, how the setting was made from bending a strip lengthways, checking-in angles to allow the two sides to be mitre joined together at the correct angle to seat the stone, checking-in the top of the shank for the setting to sit into, shaping the band and the tiny little setting edges which were finally soldered on top of the V setting @ Teeps The Jeweller

06.01.2022 After the initial concept sketches I drew up some scaled plans to get my head around how I was going to make Amys ring. Its quite different to anything Ive done before. The end result is a fairly simple looking piece, but the number of angles and chamfers all having to come together made it anything but simple to make. Keep an eye out tomorrow to see how it was done

06.01.2022 Very cool to be able to share the finished product for Amys engagement ring remake. This is a great example of one of my ethos. Every angle, line, thickness (everything!) you see on this ring has been considered. Zero ornamentation. It was quite literally built around the stone. This, to me is what good design is. It serves its function (showing off the beautiful Aussie sapphire), while at the same time doing so in a minimalist yet beautiful way. I really enjoyed the challenge of this piece and want to thank Amy and Ben for their trust and patience! Stay tuned for some pretty cool process photos!
