12.01.2022 SET FOR GREAT HEIGHTS! Brave mum Tracy is preparing to face her fear of heights in aid of a cause close to her heart! TSH has provided invaluable help to Tracy and her seven-year-old son Cooper since he was diagnosed with a #hearingloss in 2018. After discovering that Cooper's hearing was affecting his #speechlanguage and #literacy skills at school, Tracy decided to enrol Cooper in TSH's specialised language program, Talkabout. ... Since then, Tracy has seen vast improvements in Cooper's skills and confidence and now wants to give something back by abseiling down the 40-storey @qv1perth building! "I want to raise awareness about the great work that TSH do and also raise much-needed monies to help others in the same boat as Cooper," said Tracy. 11.01.2022 FLYING HIGH A massive thank you to our brave and courageous #superhero fundraisers who took a leap of faith for children at TSH! These generous daredevils volunteered to abseil or fly down the highest pitch building in #Perth while raising over $7,000 for children affected by hearing loss or speech/language difficulties! Thank you so much to everyone involved!!

11.01.2022 VOTE & SHARE FOR MICHELLE TSH Family Liaison, Michelle has a personal understanding of what parents may go through when their child is diagnosed with hearing loss or a speech and language delay. She experienced this journey with her own daughter's diagnosis more than 15 years ago and received much-needed support from TSH. ... "The beginning of this journey is the hardest and darkest times in their lives. I listen and make this a safe and comfortable environment." Inspired by her own experience, Michelle wanted to give back and started volunteering with TSH. She is now the Family Liaison Officer and has gone above and beyond supporting more than 2000 families over the past 13 years!! 07.01.2022 RED FLAGS We've learnt about the common timetable that we can expect to see a child reach certain #speech and #hearing milestones. Now it's time to look at some signs or 'red flags' that can help you decide if your child may need a little extra support.... If your child is: Not babbling by 12 months of age Not talking by 2 years of age Not putting words together to form simple sentences by 3 years of age Not meeting developmental milestones in all areas of development Has poor social skills - withdrawing from social interactions Experiencing behavioural issues that are different to other children the same age Appears to miss information or ignores others Has recurring ear infections or ear pain then contact a #SpeechPathologist or #Audiologist in your area. Please seek medical advice if you believe your child needs hearing, speech, language or literacy support. A simple check could make all the difference!

Improved park layout, accessibility and new playground!... Works are planned to commence February 2021 for 8-10 weeks and the park will be closed. 01.01.2022 AND THE WINNERS ARE... Last Saturday, TSH #Outpost families and staff gathered for its most inspirational events of the year - Power of Speech! This year 29 brave and courageous students with #HearingLoss from Years 1 to 6 took to the stage to perform a 2-3 minute speech in front of loved ones, their teachers and friends.... It was an intimate affair this year, as Stage 4 restrictions meant ONLY 150 people could watch our #students showcase their extraordinary speaking skills, with some saying it was arguably the highest standard of speeches ever seen! Our esteemed judges had a great challenge on their hands, but managed to award 4 winners: Leon Dean - Category 1 Winner Abeer Ghous - Category 2 Winner Lucas Gherardi - Mary Shurman Most Improved Winner Archer Rowntree - Geoff Reader Encouragement Winner Congratulations to ALL participants and their families. 2020 has tested our #resilience but we have all come together and pulled off another AMAZING Power of Speech! : P.S.
