25.01.2022 A question for people who use prestart books. Do you put them in a protective satchel in your vehicles to protect them?

24.01.2022 Today's instruction was. Keep an eye on the platten but don't touch it. So what was I supposed to do when it started picking up double sheets of card and dropping them. I stopped it and fixed the problem and restarted it. It ran out of card stock just as husband came back and I said "It stopped" his reply "yes I heard it stop, the first time also". so it seems a Who-me may have stopped and restarted it. Also seems I can't be trusted to Not Touch. This is what the machine looks like we use it to perforate pages and to Dye cut and to score card. It is an old Letterpress machine, commonly known as a windmill press.

20.01.2022 We have had a chance to add a new book to our checklist collection. These are a pre printed book that we have in stock.

20.01.2022 Have had a couple of very busy weeks and have printed some new books for customers that havent made it to the site yet, a wood chipper prestart, a telehandler prestart, Generator prestart, lighting prestart and tipper prestart. If these are something that you need call or email for more info.

20.01.2022 Truck and maintenance record books are printed and will be added to the site. I will add a pic of these tomorrow. I have heaps of books on my bench to pack tomorrow so will have my work cut out.

19.01.2022 This week has been a mix of jobs and majority have been custom jobs. And loved when a customer is excited when then come to to pick their print job up and say it is better than what they imagined it would look like.

18.01.2022 We have stocked up on some of the pre-printed books that we seem to have had a rush on. So lots of truck, machine and tuck with moffett, We are also working on some new ones which we will add when we have printed copies in stock.

18.01.2022 Have you ever found yourself talking to a piece of equipment and almost begging it. "Please stop throwing double sheets! the books need to be accurate and the set numbers match." I was making carbonless books and the damp air makes the pages wrinkle so the collator was picking up multiple pages which meant the numbers were out, so having to fix them by hand. What should have been a 30 min job took me about 3 hrs.

16.01.2022 The man at the post office asked why I always arrive with my custom made cardboard satchels enclosing books. I told him that I do it to protect them because customers dont like getting damaged goods. I have almost got my packaging down to a fine art as I have made templates for most of the popular books we send out, so it is easier than measuring and working out the best way to pack them.

15.01.2022 A mixture of jobs this week, it is sometimes strange as we will get an order for a product like Purchase order books and then several more people will order them. However this week it is, purchase order books, con notes, daily report books, take 5 / hazob books and then prestart books to pack and flyers. Also know we have a book coming in to be printed and cant wait to have a quick first read of it as it is written by a friend. Must be honest it is hard trying to read when you are supposed to be collating and binding it.

14.01.2022 Had a little smile today. A paper rep came and I told him I was disappointed that I could not buy a paper size that we use. 455x650. He said I can get it is sheets 650 x 910 x 500 sheets. Yes, but I cant lift that size pack on my own I told him. (husband and I normally carry an end each) He said it's fine you just throw it over your shoulder and carry it. Yeah right, that is equivalent to 9 reams of A4 paper. And the paper is packed to open easy (for guillotine operators) so I can just see sheets all over the floor. Maybe the paper rep needs to spend time in a print shop, but not ours, I dont think he would last long.

12.01.2022 Have a heap of Light Vehicle books printed and ready to collate and make however not so confident it is going to happen today.

10.01.2022 this week has been interesting I ran out of forklift checklist books and also truck so we had to do some ASAP and have an order for 150 custom diaries for a customer and a large order from out west for a variety of books so it be a busy week next week.

08.01.2022 Graphics has been working on some new books to the site, they include a loader, generator, telehandler and others. So watch for them to be put online.

07.01.2022 My workbench is loaded with Forklift checklist books and Light vehicle ones to add to stock, and have a request for truck maintenance record books which we are finalising and will add to the website so check the site later this week or contact us if this is something you need.

06.01.2022 Had to do a little head scratching as a guy contacted me to say his first lot of inv books were great, however the second print run they are falling apart at the staples. Wait a minute we didnt print for him as he said he could get them cheaper elsewhere. I have let him know this and he hasnt responded as yet.

06.01.2022 Todays collate was huge as we needed 100 light vehicle books, 100 daily time sheet books, 100 truck with trailer checklist books and 100 machine for a custom order. Tomorrow it is the staples and tape and writing templates and hopefully into boxes to send. Then we need more machine checklist books for stock and truck with moffett for stock.

04.01.2022 When I go to the post office the guy often asks where I get the custom packages from. Answer is I make them as customers dont like getting damaged books. I have made a template of the books so when an order comes I find the one that says Machine x 1 or Truck by 2 and draw around it on a sheet of cardboard and cut the shape and assemble. Sometimes I get it perfect and it looks great. And sometimes I get it finished and find I forgot to put the invoice in. Drat

01.01.2022 Telfer Print is still operating. For us we dont have very many walk in customers as most of our orders come by phone or email. This week we needed to stock up on Forklift and chemical spray log books and light vehicle. So hoping to get to pack some of those and send out so I dont have to pack them into the pre-printed book cupboard. Stay safe.
