02.01.2022 Hello we'd like to tell you about the creation of Telling Stories. Telling Stories' creator, Shannon, lost her father, aged 66, and this was a primary motivation behind the creation of Telling Stories. She so wished she had videoed him telling his amazing stories, as only he could. What a comfort that would have been for all of the family and she also realised how much she didn't know about his childhood and early adult years -- her family history. Having a degree in Media ...& Information, a Diploma in Film & TV plus fifteen years as a professional photographer, Shannon is well placed to offer a service of a very high standard. Added to this is a passion to keep alive our life stories for our children and all the generations to come. As a society we tend to preserve and record stories of people who are culturally/historically significant but, to us, it is the regular person’s life story we find most interesting. While we collect photos and mementos of our lives, so much of who we are and the lives we have lived are unknown to those who follow. Perhaps the most precious legacy we can leave our families is the gift of our life story in the form of a video biography : an intimate record of your life, those precious moments which made you laugh and cry, and which created the unique person that is you. Seeing our loved one and hearing their voice brings comfort and provides a permanent history for your family -- preserving those precious family stories for the generations that follow. How many times have we heard the lament, I wish I’d asked Dad/Mum/Grandad/Nanna about that! Our life stories are the foundation of our history and should be preserved. Telling Stories is dedicated to just this - preserving each client’s stories as a permanent record of their life - and in so doing, create a living record of a family’s history to pass from generation to generation.
