25.01.2022 Decades of experience has saved the lives of two pilots when their light plane lost power 1200 metres above the ground near Warwick this morning. The father an...d son made an emergency landing on a country road as nearby residents watched from their porch. The propeller stopped going around and then all of a sudden we had a bit of vibration. Next thing - dead quiet and dead silence - Pilot, Trevor Bange. Report on 7NEWS Toowoomba at 6pm. www.7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS

23.01.2022 Our Air Force, Our People | When Wing Commander Robyn Clay-Williams (retired) joined in 1979, she was told there were no female pilots. When she was accepted in...to the first pilot’s course to admit women in 1987, Wing Commander Clay-Williams graduated at the top of the class. She went on to become a flying instructor and a test pilot, helping shape our personnel and aircraft to create the modern force we are today. We’re exceptionally proud of Robyn’s achievements and her many contributions helping to blaze a trail for all of our future people to follow. P.S. Keep an eye out for Robyn’s appearance in the Royal Australian Mint’s new coin series commemorating some of the exceptional people 100 years of Air Force. #AusAirForce #AirForce100 #ThenNowAlways

16.01.2022 On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. With their armies retreating and close to collapse, Germ...an leaders signed an Armistice, bringing to an end the First World War. From the summer of 1918, the five divisions of the Australian Corps had been at the forefront of the allied advance to victory. Beginning with their stunning success at the battle of Hamel in July, they helped to turn the tide of the war at Amiens in August, followed by the capture of Mont St Quentin and Pèronne, and the breaching of German defences at the Hindenburg Line in September. By early October the exhausted Australians were withdrawn from battle. They had achieved a fighting reputation out of proportion to their numbers, but victory had come at a heavy cost. They suffered almost 48,000 casualties during 1918, including more than 12,000 dead. In the four years of the war more than 330,000 Australians had served overseas, and more than 60,000 of them had died. The social effects of these losses cast a long shadow over the post-war decades. : Australian War Memorial We are honoured to take part in commemorations by flying the RAAF Historic Flight Hudson over the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne, Victoria. #WeRememberThem

09.01.2022 It is important to recognise and embrace the stories of all who have served, and continue to serve, so we can truly be the Air Force of Australians for all Aus...tralians. On October 23 Air Commander Australia Air Vice-Marshal Joe Iervasi dedicated a new building at RAAF Base Williamtown to Leonard ‘Len’ Waters, Australia’s only known Indigenous fighter pilot during WW2. Len flew 95 operational sorties during the Pacific campaign, before discharging from the Air Force with the rank of Warrant Officer on January 18, 1946. Len is just one of the many Indigenous Australians who have served, and continue to serve in #AusAirForce. Find out more about Len this #NAIDOCWeek: http://ia.anu.edu.au/biogra/waters-leonard-victor-len-24662 #AusAirForce #NAIDOC2020

08.01.2022 WATCH | Our Aircraft Arrestor System stops an F/A-18F Super Hornet at RAAF Base Amberley. Aircraft arrestor systems are lifesaving devices used to preserve... the life of the pilot and aircraft in the event of an emergency. Ready to spring into action at a moment's notice, Air Force’s aircraft arrestor systems and their 3.5-tonne energy absorbers can arrest aircraft that weigh up to 90,000 pounds (that's 40,823 kilograms for those of us on the metric system).

07.01.2022 SAAA Sponsored Youth Build & Fly Project - OUR SECOND BUILD IS ABOUT TO START! We have been very fortunate to have an aircraft donated to us. A big thank you t...o Peter Yore who donated his part built Murphy Rebel to our SAAA Sponsored Youth Build and Fly Project. This will run alongside our RV12 build. Temora High School are taking on this build and we are absolutely delighted to have lead teacher, Brett Inch and his students on board. Temora High School is a comprehensive high school in the Riverina region of New South Wales. The town has a strong aviation background, being a site for a RAAF training squadron during WWII and the current site for Temora Aviation Museum which boasts 2 flying spitfires. The school has an enrolment of approx. 350 students across years 7 10. The school has enjoyed considerable success in sporting, cultural, academic and trade skills areas. Students are offered the opportunity to pursue many different interests and career paths. The addition of the Murphy Rebel project to these opportunities shows the school’s commitment to delivering and expanding on opportunities for the students. Temora High is honoured and proud to be a part of the SAAA’s school build program and look forward to keeping its members updated with our progress We also welcome Temora Aviation Museum as sponsors, and thank Peter Harper and everyone at the museum for your generosity and support for this build. 04.01.2022 Warbirds Downunder CANCELLED News today from the Temora Aviation Museum: "The Temora Aviation Museum management team has been closely monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation and its potential effects on Warbirds Downunder, which was rescheduled for 6 & 7 March 2021. ... After reviewing all information, it has become clear that the existing COVID-19 restriction of 500 visitors on site makes holding a major event extremely challenging. As a result, the decision has been made to cancel Warbirds Downunder. Existing ticket holders will be automatically issued a full refund, which will be facilitated by ticketing partner, Ticketmaster. In lieu of Warbirds Downunder, the Museum will be hosting a different event on the weekend of 6 & 7 March 2021, with existing ticket holders being given first right to these tickets. The event may have as many aircraft as our previous Warbird events, including a considerable contribution by the RAAF in their 100th year. More information on the revised event will be released in the coming weeks. This event will be in line with NSW Department of Health and be currently limited to 500 people. If restrictions ease, then additional tickets will be released accordingly." For further information please visit the event page on the website or email [email protected]

02.01.2022 TEMORA AIRPORT TO TAKE OFF THANKS TO $10.1 MILLION I am so excited the Temora Airport will be undergoing a $10.1 million upgrade. Deputy Premier John Baril...aro joined me a short time ago to make the announcement, which will create up to 20 additional airpark lots, new taxiways and roadways as well as power, telecommunications, gas, water, sewer and stormwater connections so new businesses can establish themselves at the airport. Temora is a town that is famous for its aviation past and present, and this upgrade will only increase that association. It will also help open up the region even further to investment and tourism. This fantastic project has been made possible thanks to the $500 million Growing Local Economies Fund which is delivering programs across regional NSW to boost employment and grow our small communities. A huge congratulations to the Temora Shire Council and everyone involved in this project, I know this will be a great boost to local jobs and opportunities.

02.01.2022 The 14th February not only marks Valentine's Day, but also is a celebration of the first post-restoration flight of CA-13 Boomerang A46-122 "Suzy-Q" (registrati...on VH-MHR), which occurred on this day in 2003 at Toowoomba Airport ..... 18 years ago today! This picture shows the Boomerang moments after its first take-off since late March 1945 when it was ferried to 6AD Oakey QLD from its No.83 Squadron RAAF base at Menangle NSW and placed into storage. This first flight in modern times was conducted by the Chief Engineer of Aerotec Queensland Wayne Milburn. Tremendous thanks to Lynette Zuccoli and the entire team at Aerotec, along with many others, who helped to get this fabulous aircraft "over the line" and airborne again. See more
