Current high pollen counts, and the predicted thunderstorms can increase the risk of asthma. ... If you know you have asthma, carry your asthma puffer with you at all times and try to stay indoors with the windows and doors closed during the storm period. The primary objectives of the role are to oversee the environmental compliance and community and stakeholder engagement of the Sebastopol Solar Farm and to ensure the project makes a positive contribution to the local community. This will include assisting to develop and implement employment programs that will assist ...locals facing barriers to employment gain work on the solar farm, such as the recently developed, ‘Women in Solar,’ initiative and the electrical apprenticeship program. 21.01.2022 Lake Centenary will be closed on Thursday 3rd December from 8am - 11am for spraying. The gates will be locked during this time.

21.01.2022 Yesterday the Friends of Temora Shire Cemeteries held a small gathering to officially open the refurbished maintenance shed at Temora Old Cemetery. The shed was kindly funded by the Estate of the late Jill Buckeridge and donations made to the Friends of the Temora Shire Cemeteries. The refurbishment of the shed provides for additional storage capacity, safer access and egress and lighting.

21.01.2022 Name Our Slide We are holding a competition to name our slide! All you have to do is send your suggestion, along with your name and contact phone number, to [email protected] by Friday 11th December. The winner will receive three (3) free sessions on the waterslide. The winner will be announced and notified at the opening on December 12th, 2020.

20.01.2022 Temora Business Enterprise Group (TBEG), in conjunction with Temora Shire Council, will be holding a New Year's Eve Celebration at the Temora Recreation Centre. The event is a ticketed event for a capacity of 500 people. The event will culminate in a fireworks display from approximately 9.30pm in Father Hannon Oval. Access to the oval will be strictly prohibited however we are expecting high volumes of foot and vehicular activity in the surrounding areas. Residents in the surrounding areas may be affected by an increase in traffic and significant noise. Please ensure that those that are affected by loud noises (including animals) have the appropriate support. This event is in strict compliance with a COVID Safety Plan and the event organisers will be reminding attendees to practice social distancing.

19.01.2022 The local RFS and Fire and Rescue have just extinguished a fire in the shire which suggests it’s a good time for a reminder in this hotter weather to take heed of the advice of authorities and the RFS. We all need to play our part in keeping our shire safe in this hot weather. Look out for cease harvest warnings and take care when disposing of flammable items including cigarette butts.

Residents of Temora Shire enrolled at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga studying to become a Registered Nurse are invited to apply for the award of a Temora Nursing Scholarship Fund.... Applications close on Friday 22 January 2021. The successful applicant(s) will receive a substantial grant to assist with expenses incurred as a result of studying for the degree. Preference will be given to candidates intending to practise in a rural area on graduation. 16.01.2022 While Australia Day 2021 may look a little different to past events, Temora Shire Council will still celebrate the achievements of our citizens throughout 2020. Nominations are now being sought for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Event of the Year (yes, we know... but a small event could still be nominated). Nomination forms can be downloaded via the link or picked up from Rick Firman's Menswear or from Council office. Please hand in completed nominations to Council. We have some outstanding citizens who contribute to our community and they should be acknowledged. So, if you know a deserving person be sure to grab a nomination form.

15.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that contributed to our Movember campaign... the lads raised $3,589! Over their target of $3,000. The boys are now clean-shaven and without complaints about the itchiness.

15.01.2022 Australia Day Awards - Event of the Year Nominee - Temora Youth Team's Term Workshops Highlights from this nomination include: - The young people learn a sense of responsibility by their contributions to the community. - During the weekly workshop’s participants receive guidance from volunteer mentors from within our community where they learn valuable skills in areas that interest them. - The Leadership Team meet fortnightly to oversee the running of the Youth Teams and Plat...form Y. They run and official meeting where decisions are ideas are discussed and deliberated on. They also actively seek opportunities for the Team members to take up volunteer roles and to contribute to the Temora Shire Community in a positive and productive way. - The Temora Youth Team took to online meetings during lockdown and have continued face to face meetings once restrictions were lifted providing stability and support for the young people of Temora Shire. "Temora Youth Teams provide ongoing support to the young people of our shire."

13.01.2022 CALLING FOR APPLICATIONS FOR YOUTH ASSISTANCE GRANTS Are you between the age of 16 and 25 years and reside in the Temora Shire? Do you need financial assistance to achieve your further education or career goals? The purpose of the Fund is to assist local Temora Shire youth who are leaving or have left school and would like financial assistance in the form of such things as course fees, text books, tools, accommodation, travel, workwear etc. The Grant is not issued as cash but... rather reimbursement on receipt of tax invoices, up to the value of the grant. We particularly encourage those doing trade apprenticeships. If you are someone who would appreciate some support, we strongly encourage you to apply. Preference may be given to those who have completed the majority of their secondary schooling in Temora Shire. Please note applications that are not properly completed, will be deemed ineligible. 11.01.2022 We are now seeking entries for the Temora Shire Art Prize. The Temora Shire Art Prize is designed to provide a platform for amateur artists to exhibit and sell their work. Professional artists are welcome to submit entries but will not be eligible for some prizes (details in the entry form available on our website). Prizes up to $1000 will go to eligible amateur artists that the panel of judges deems deserving. Entries close at 2pm on Sunday 11th October. 09.01.2022 During harvest, and heading into the Christmas season, we are finding our customer service area is getting quite busy. Covid restrictions mean we have to follow the rules and we are asking for your patience as we navigate these restrictions. If you are coming into to the Council office on council business (such as paying your rates) please enter and go straight to the counter to your left. If you are coming to the Service NSW agency, please enter and take a seat to the right of the foyer (whilst following the restriction rules) and you will be called upon when it is your turn. Our service staff can only work within the restrictions and always have your best interests at heart. Please be patient with them under the circumstances

03.01.2022 Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) has announced the live streaming of the Annual Public Meeting through Facebook for the first time this year, making it easier for local residents to ask questions about hospital and community health services or provide feedback. MLHD Chief Executive Jill Ludford encouraged residents to submit questions using an online form via the link below before the meeting starts at 1pm on Tuesday 24 November. Questions can also be posed during the meeting.

02.01.2022 This Christmas, NSW Health recommends celebrating outdoors because the risk of COVID-19 transmission is lower than it is indoors. Think about having your get-together outside. If you use your backyard or balcony you can have up to 50 guests at your place. If you’re only indoors you can have up to 30. If you don’t have the space at home, consider going to a park.
