23.01.2022 Recently, there have been new opportunities for students to learn practical skills to prepare them for life beyond school. Year 11 and 12 students have undertaken a variety of projects, including mowing lawns, volunteering with the CFS and making beaded jewelry to sell as a fundraiser for the school group Daughters of Grace. Ian Chou, one of our Year 9 students planned and organized a reunion for his Year 8 English class. This involved Ian liaising with his past teacher an...d classmates via email. After eating pizza, the group enjoyed a time of conversation reminiscing about their favourite memories of Year 8 English. These projects build community connections both in school and with the wider community. Additionally, they enable students to develop knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that equip them to be responsible and active citizens in life after school. See more

23.01.2022 SSSSA Knock-Out Girls and Boys Volleyball On Wednesday, 12 August, Week 4 Term 3, a selected squad of Open Boys and squad of Open Girls completed in the SSSSA State-wide Knock-Out Volleyball Carnival held at Nazareth College. The Open Boys competed against teams from Woodville, Millicent, Seaview and Nazareth. The Temple Boys team played exceptionally well and were undefeated for the whole day. Congratulations to the Open Boys who finished in first place and will compete in R...ound Two of the State-wide competition in Week 7. The Open Girls competed against teams from Seaview, St Aloysius, Millicent and Woodville. The Temple girls also played extremely well but unfortunately were faced with the toughest competition in their first game against Seaview, and consequently were unable to proceed to the next round. Despite this rough start to the day, the girls placed 2nd, defeating all other teams. The girls can be commended for an outstanding effort and fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day. Well done to both Open teams who demonstrated strong volleyball skills and represented Temple Christian College with good sportsmanship. Physical Education and Sports Department

22.01.2022 SSSSA Knock-Out Boys Netball This year the Open Boys were presented with an opportunity to compete in a Knock-Out Netball competition against other schools in the state. A team of nine Open Boys competed on Monday, 17 August, Week 5 Term 3, at Scotch College. The Temple boys showcased some exceptional netball but were up against strong competition. As the Scotch team was likely one of the strongest teams in the knock-out competition, with players on their team representing th...e state, it was an unfortunate fixture for the first game . The Temple students played incredibly well and went down to Scotch College by only seven goals. Congratulations to the Open Boys who demonstrated great sportsmanship and placed 2nd to Scotch College in an extremely competitive game. Physical Education and Sports Department

18.01.2022 On Thursday, 20 August, our talented dance students performed the story of Esther as this year’s senior examination performance. With students from Year 7 to 12 performing, it was a night that showcased the talents and strong community we have here at Temple. Outstanding performances by our Senior dancers included a contemporary duet choreographed by Larissa McGowan, as the Year 11’s Amy O’Donoghue and Victoria Chang fought for the crown and then Ruvon Roux’s, as Queen Esther, ballet solo was a moving rendition of her hesitation to approach the King. These three later combined to perform a Bob Fosse inspired Broadway Jazz with amazing strength and timing that celebrated Esther’s strength to stand up for her people. Congratulations to our Dance students on their production of the Story of Esther.

16.01.2022 Year 9 Hike in Morialta Conservation Park During week 2 the Year 9 students travelled to Morialta Conservation Park to complete a bush walk in preparation for the hiking expedition which forms part of the Year 9 camp in week 10 of this term. Students learnt and applied map-reading and navigation skills, as well as leadership and collaboration skills. It was a great opportunity for students to get outdoors and enjoy nature and spend time building friendships outside of the cla...ssroom. Rachel Preston shares her experience: On Monday Week 2 the Year 9 female Right Journey classes were lucky enough to experience the beauty of nature on our 13km hike in Morialta. At the start of the hike it was a little wet and cold but once we got going it got warmer. We had two people at the front guiding us the right way and two back-markers who made sure no one was falling behind. Luckily, we had no injuries on the hike and had a smooth experience. During the hike we stopped a couple times to play some games and have a break. In conclusion it was a great hike and it was good to get out into nature with our class. It was definitely a bonding experience when the trail went uphill but we all did so well and made it the whole way. Shian Roux also shares his experience: I enjoyed the bushwalk. It was a nice walk to do with friends and I would love to do it again. What I liked about the walk was mainly walking with friends and learning about them and the surrounding environment. We walked up and down quite a few hills and we found sticks along the sides of the road to use as walking sticks. It became a competition to find the best stick. We also got to learn about what the first settlers would have seen and felt when they first came to Adelaide, the place we call home. See more

15.01.2022 2020 Music Showcase: The annual music showcase was held on Thursday 10th September at Edwardstown Baptist church. The evening was a great success with the venue being at capacity, filled with parents, friends and the always supportive Temple Community. All groups performed with tremendous energy and musicality. It was clear to see the joy on all the faces of both the players on stage and the audience in their seats as this was the first public performance for the year. Thanks must go to the students for their hard work and professionalism in preparing for the evening. Thanks also to the community for their attendance on the night and for their understanding with restrictions and protocols. Special thanks to the Music, Arts and support teams that helped coordinate various aspects throughout the lead up and on the night.

15.01.2022 Year 9 Westcare Visit In Week 2 this term the Year 9's participated in an education day about refugees at the Westcare Centre in the city. The purpose of the day was for students to develop a greater understanding and awareness of the plight of refugees and to ultimately develop empathy for them. Jack Gregory shares his reflection on the day: In Week 2 of Term 3 our Year 9 Rite Journey classes went to Westcare in the city. Westcare is a Christian organisation providing meals..., beds, relief packages, medical help and services for those in need. When we went there they explained the difference between an Asylum Seeker and a Refugee which was good to know, as I did not know of this previously. In short, an Asylum Seeker is a person who seeks the status of a Refugee. We heard from a guest speaker who had gone through all this, and she spoke of her experience and how she is now in 2nd year of University doing a Nursing Degree. Throughout the day we filled out a small booklet with various questions on the topic. We could share our answers for a shot at the prize of a Mars Bar. We ate the same food as the people at the centre and then at the end we did a simulation activity which put us in the shoes of an Asylum Seeker fleeing danger where we had to make all the choices ourselves. It was a great way of knowing what it is like to flee to a country that is very unknown to you. It was a great visit and as we live in a privileged society it is good to have compassion and to learn about and help those in need. See more
