The asthma preventer Seretide ACCUHALER has a warning not to take the medication if you have an allergy to milk proteins. 18.01.2022 The Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) and the Allergen Bureau have released the updated document, Food Industry Guide to Allergen Management and Labell...ing (2019) that describes industry best practice for the management of allergens, allergen labelling and allergen communication. It describes the requirements regarding food allergen labelling under the ANZ Food Standards Code and provides guidance on the use of the VITAL (Voluntary Incidental Trace Allergen Labelling) Program for risk assessment and labelling of cross contact allergens (i.e. cross contamination); management and communication of a change in allergen status of a food product and information about food recalls. In addition to previous recommendations for bolding of allergens in the ingredient list and the inclusion of an allergen summary statement, there is now guidance on how manufacturers should communicate allergen ingredient changes on the front of pack and how they can differentiate the same product that has a different packaging size/format (and therefore different ingredients) as well as parallel imports that resemble locally manufactured products. Advice is given in the guide for manufacturers to consider alerting consumers of changes through Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia via its website and social media platforms. Finally, there is detail around food recalls, with direction given on training of call service staff; information to be collected and how the food recall should be communicated to consumers.
