25.01.2022 Were back! Normal operation resumes as of Monday and we cannot wait! A massive massive shoutout to all of our amazing members. This has been such a crazy few months and we wouldnt have made it through without the support that all of you have given us. Our gym and community is what it is because of you. 25.01.2022 As the cold weather sets in, its inevitable that some lose the motivation to exercise. Its cold and dark in the morning, beds a lot more comfortable Its raining and already dark when you leave work, the idea of settling in on the couch and binge watching Netflix seems a lot more inviting.... Youll start to make excuses as to why you cant get to the gym - work has been so busy, I havent had time etc. etc. The excuses and validation for not training last for the whole winter, then at the end of August, the sun pokes its head out again, work magically slows down, and it all of sudden becomes easier to find motivation for training. You arrive back at the gym and say, MAKE ME FIT IMMEDIATELY, I NEED TO LOOK AND FEEL GREAT FOR SUMMER, completely discounting the fact that youve only exercised a handful of times over the past couple of months You hit your first session back and go hard, wake up the next morning, can hardly move because your new found motivation got the better of you and you didnt ease yourself back in, and you say to yourself, Fuck, this is all too hard, being fit and healthy is impossible. But, in reality, if youd kept your routine, made fitness a priority over the colder months, formed a habit of going to the gym regardless of the weather and not accepted bullshit excuses from yourself, then you wouldnt be in this pickle and youd already be feeling fit and healthy and not feeling as though you need to start from scratch. Its your choice as to whether or not you keep your training consistently during the winter or accept excuses. If you lack motivation when its cold then your WHY is not strong enough. Your reason for exercise doesnt mean enough to you or you dont think about that reasoning daily. Have a good think about what you actually want to gain from exercising, write it down and look at it every single day. It may be to look good and feel comfortable with your shirt off or in a bikini, and thats 100% OK, it may be to run 5km under a certain time, it may be to set a healthy example for your kids - whatever it is needs to mean enough to you to get you in the gym, even when its freezing and you cant be f@*ed

02.01.2022 A little bit 19.4 reflection... specifically regarding THE MUSCLE UP! Hopefully you got a few, maybe your first one (congrats if you did). If you didnt, from right now, you have approx. 1 year (assuming the Open format stays the same) until Muscle ups pop up again and you panic about not being able to do one, then youll frantically ask your coach to give you a 3min crash course on a skill that you should have been practicing for the past 12 months.... Youll probably finish... the Open with a big hit of motivation to practice what you feel may have let you down. Assuming thats the muscle up, youll search the 4,000 videos on YouTube or the Gram showing you how to rig up 38 bands from the ceiling of your gym, claiming that this is the progression to get your first muscle up, youll practice that for 2 weeks, attempt a muscle up, realise theres been no improvement, then youll crack the shits and move on to the next best progression or youll lose interest all together and forget about muscle ups again until next year. Heres some advice: Work on your fucking STRENGTH and do it consistently! This means STRICT gymnastics work and it means not cracking the shits when you dont see improvement in 2 weeks then either hopping on the next cool, shiney program or making excuses and quitting altogether. The program that works best is the one that you stick to! A Muscle up is not an overly difficult SKILL to master but that doesnt mean the work that is required to get the STRENGTH to perform one is easy. Scap and Lat pull ups, hollow holds, tight arch holds, strict pull ups, strict chest to bar pull ups, dips etc. may not be the sexiest movements or the most fun to do but they fucking work and competence with them is required for a safe and efficient Muscle up and one that you can SAFELY maintain, even after a little bit of fatigue. Lastly: Transition drills have their place. The transition from pull up to dip does need a little bit of time and practice. But, if the BULK of your Muscle up practice involves bands, foam rollers, bars in low racks or your car attached to a pulley to whip you over the bar, then your focus is in the wrong place. Focus most of your time on GETTING STRONG! It takes time and patience but its worth it and if you do so consistently, the next time Muscle ups are announced in the Open, youll be excited instead of stressed. See more

02.01.2022 Consistent work over a long period of time = lasting results! 28 day or 8, 10, 12 week challenges can be beneficial for a kick in the ass to get you on the right track but make sure that what youre doing, how youre eating and how youre training is SUSTAINABLE forever. If it isnt and you cant maintain the eating and training habits and integrate them into your lifestyle, then you are setting yourself up for failure and in danger of falling into the yo-yo style diet/train...ing pattern. Alex, pictured above, has been with us for the best part of 8 years and over that time has gained close to 9kg while maintaining a healthy body fat % and still improving other aspects of fitness. He trains consistently 4-5 days per week and just eats real food. Theres no magic formula and this didnt happen over night and there was no quick fix to help Alex stack on this muscle or gain the strength and fitness that hes gained, because real and sustainable results just take time and effort. But I guarantee if you ask him, hell tell you that the time has all been worth it. Be consistent and patient and your results will come. #tenacity #fitness #since2010 See more
