24.01.2022 SILVER SCREEN Captain T has been wanting to try a taller screen on his 700 since day-dot ... and finally that day has arrived. No one here in OZ is yet making a tall screen for the 700, while buying one from overseas can see the freight cost to OZ rival the cost of the screen itself. Fortunately I got in on a bulk order from Rally Raid Products in the UK with David Darcy and Nugget, and I’ve just received one of their Tall tinted screens for the 700. It’s a good 10cm taller... than the stock screen, and almost 5cm wider each side near the top, so it promises to punch a lot more wind away from the rider, which is what I’ve been wanting for those long distance rides where you’re just chomping through big miles day after day. I’m also hoping to cut down on wind noise inside my helmet, which has been driving me loopy on some rides of late. I always ran a taller Screens for Bikes screen on my 660 Teneres and loved the way it worked, so I’m hoping for similar results with the Rally Raid Products screen on the 700. First ride around the block and the RRP screen feels good; there’s less wind blast on my head and shoulders and less wind noise inside my helmet, so I can’t wait to get out for a longer evaluation and see how it performs. #yamahamotoraus #blucru #revsyourheart See more

These OEM header pipes were on the shelf at YMC in Japan ... soon they will be on good ol’ #17 and she will be yet another step closer to reliving her former glories in true style. 11.01.2022 LET THERE BE LIGHT Hi Tragics: I am getting to close to completing the restoration of a 1996 Yamaha Tenere XTZ660 but am having a problem with the headlights. High/Low is stuck on high beam. The switch on the bars looks clean and seems to be okay. It’s odd as I seem to get a slight dimming of the lights when switching, and I have checked the Pass switch and it seems okay too. With the High/Low switchgear pulled apart I get low beam on one light - is that normal? - and I can g...et high beam with the Pass switch. But when the switchgear is put back together I am stuck with high beam on both lights. It is doing my head in! Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Baz.
