22.01.2022 Happy Father's Day!!! Where have all the visitors gone?? Noticeable decline in numbers today...does this mean they are already on the homeward stretch or....weather temps are on the increase, is this the reason?... The Visitor Information Centre continues to be open 9am-5pm daily..call in and say hello...

18.01.2022 Saying thanks to all the visitors and locals alike who have called in yesterday and today (Monday public holiday). Most impressed with our numbers this morning, at one stage the car park was 'chock-a-block' with mostly off road campers & 4x4's Boy, the museums have come in the favourite activity this morning...hope you enjoyed our exclusive exhibits

14.01.2022 New stocks of the Red Centre Monopoly are available. This iconic game has been brought to life with Red Centre images, tokens and properties. And Guess what! Battery Hill Mining Centre and Devils Marbles Hotel have landed a place half way round the board! (Nowhere near the Old Kent Road!) We're open 9 to 5 every day at this time of the year. Don't miss out!

12.01.2022 After an unusually dry summer in Central Australia with extreme temperatures and wildfire, Iytwelepenty/Davenport Ranges National Park was looking fairly dry an...d lifeless. That is until Cyclone Trevor delivered an impressive soaking! Whistleduck Waterhole has been filled up and the Davenport Ranges have come back to life. If you are planning a trip over Easter, the National Park houses a plethora of hidden oases in the sometimes unforgiving Barkly region. Camping is available at Whistleduck and Old Police Station Waterholes. Please be respectful of fellow campers and remember to leave the dog at home.

06.01.2022 We're very happy to say that work has begun on our new doors for the Centre. They were significantly damaged during two break-ins back at the end of 2017, so we have been waiting a while for the insurance etc. The boys from GK were in early this morning and the doors are in the frame, with the trims and the cover strips still to be installed. It's exciting to see progress after having the doors boarded up for so long. The pictures show the broken doors that have been removed. (They were covered in plywood for security) and the new doors reflecting our beautiful view over the town.

04.01.2022 A bit closer to town, Kunjarra is lovely. A place of peace and gentleness. We saw a large grey kangaroo out there last night as we wandered waiting for the sunset. And the sunset did not disappoint.

03.01.2022 This beautiful photo by Amanda Short shows Whistleduck Waterhole in the Iytwelepnty / Davenport Ranges National Park. Looking really good at the moment - filled thanks to Cyclone Trevor. For those looking for somewhere to take the four wheel drive - this would be hard to beat!

03.01.2022 Good luck to all the girls and one young man, yes one young man who are making up the teams from Darwin, Arafura, Palmerston, Katherine, Barkly & Alice Springs. They are all in Tennant Creek to compete in the NT School Sports Netball Championships. It was lovely to have all the groups, looking splendidly colourful in their uniforms I might add, come and visit us here at Battery Hill yesterday afternoon. They sighted the museums and went on a Underground Mine Tour and as th...ere were over 110 students we needed to split them into two group sessions. They were a very well behaved group and each school should be proud of its representative students' behaviour. We as staff thoroughly enjoyed our time playing host. Once again good luck to all teams...we know there can only be one winning team but to us if you are participating you are already a winner in your own right.
