22.01.2022 Even though it is has been a "little bit wet" underfoot to say the least, Tennis Whitsunday has still been a "hive of activity". The exterior of the Club and upstairs and downstairs has been given the once over to get rid of all the grit and grim from the next door building site. Meantime the strip of concrete along court 1 and 3 is completed. Due to the weather social tennis had to be cancelled on Thursday night and Saturday afternoon. Let's hope for better "tennis weather".... As stated last week the Australian Open this year starts on the 8th February, 2021. However late January will see 4 lead in tournaments :- 2 for women - The Gippsland Trophy and the Yarra Valley Classic and 2 for the Guys - the Great Ocean Road Open and the Murray River Open as well as the ATP Cup in early February. So............ a racquet bag full of tennis! Meantime time tennis tournaments are being held in Dubai and Doha that are available on paid to air TV Some quick fast facts about the Aussie Open :- The Australian Open has been played on three different surfaces Grass (1905 - 1987), Rebound Ace - a type of hard court (1988 - 2007) and Plexicushion- a faster type of hardcourt (2008 - to present) Winners in 2020 Ladies - Sophie Kennin (USA) and Mens - Novac Djokovic (Serbia). Reminder - membership fees for 2021 are due and payable. Forward Reminder - tennis coaching resumes on Wednesday 27th January, 2021. Coach Jenny is counting down the days to see everyone back on court. It is still not to late to book a lesson for Term 1.

21.01.2022 Hi, obviously to wet for social tennis this afternoon. To keep you in the know pic of the new concrete strip, next week box drain being installed and fencing. Only if weather plays the right ball game!!!
