10.01.2022 Practical application of infection control We have been instructed to follow these guidelines so that our gatherings will not be involved in spreading disease. It seems silly until someone you love is sick. Even just the flu can be deadly to our more fragile people. Let’s be the safest (and sanest) people around. Generally: - Hand sanitiser, (or soap and water) needs to be available AND USED BY EVERYONE... - If we clean our hands as we enter and leave (and before we eat) then we won’t need to clean all the books, toys etc, we can just spray them at the end - Hand sanitiser: In the doorways for use as people enter and leave (like at nursing homes) In the kitchen Where the Lord’s supper is distributed Where other food is served - Refrain for the moment from shaking hands, hugging, kissing etc - Sunday school, AYD, Youth, Bible studies need to wash their hands too - John and Parish Council and Allan will try to supply the sprays, hand sanitisers etc needed - Obviously if you are sick, stay home to recover. Let someone know if you need help. - At the end of each church activity we will need to spray disinfectant spray (or wipe) the items used. Including the toys etc in creche. Lord’s supper: -John and the Wardens will distribute the bread and individual cups after sanitising their hands from up the front. -Those taking communion will line up and take their turn without kneeling, eat the bread and wine and return to their seats. (Kneeling means lots of hands on the communion rail.) Morning tea: - Serve things that come in individual packs, like: popcorn or individual-serve biscuit packets -or wrap slices, biscuits individually -or bring morning tea in containers with lids and serve them with the lids on -One or two people will need to serve the food for morning tea with tongs (just like at church camp), once they have washed their hands. Even with everything individually wrapped. This is instead of everyone helping themselves so that lots of (little) hands aren’t over every individually wrapped piece just the one they are given. -The same for the tea and coffee. Perhaps use a tea pot, coffee pot that the server holds and distributes? -Whoever is on morning tea is in charge of organising servers, working out how to serve the food so that only a few clean hands are touching the food and drink and no one is breathing/speaking over exposed food. We will all need to be ready to help if asked. Thanks everyone for understanding. These guidelines are based on the information that the Bishop is sending to all the churches.
