21.01.2022 Ten FM's Local News Watch- LOCAL VOLUNTEER GROUPS GET FUNDING BOOST WITH RECENT GRANTS Beneficiaries Include- Tenterfield Total Care, Oracles of the Bush, Gran...ite Borders Landcare, Tenterfield Swimming Committee- Pictured: Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce & Tenterfield Total Cares Meals on Wheels. The Coalition Government will provide a funding injection for 16 community groups and organisations in the New England to support the work of local volunteers. Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, said the grants will support the work of many volunteer groups in the electorate including rural fire services, community transport, meals on wheels and sports clubs. While the work of our volunteers may be unpaid, it is not unrecognised, Mr Joyce said. From fighting bushfires, delivering food to vulnerable Australians in isolation and helping out with the weekend sport, they are all local champions. Their contribution is vital to ensuring that we continue to support families, provide employment pathways for young people and strengthen community resilience. Mr Joyce said the funding injection coincides with National Volunteer Week being celebrated this week. Its vital we acknowledge the important contribution of our local volunteers in the New England, he said. Minister for Families and Social Services Anne Ruston said the funding would go a long way to support organisations and their volunteers through what has been a tough year. The bushfires had a devastating impact on many of our people and communities across the country and we are now living through a global pandemic, Minister Ruston said. Volunteers freely give their time and skills to support others and will play a key role in communities over the next few months. This funding recognises the sacrifices they make to help deliver vital services to those who need it most. Nationally, volunteering has an estimated annual economic and social contribution of $290 billion. The awarded grants are between $1,000 and $5,000. National Volunteer Week runs from 18-24 May. You can get involved in the online activities by visiting the Volunteering Australia website. 20.01.2022 What is a Homecare Package? The Australian Governments Home Care Package Program helps you to live independently in your own home for as long as you can. The Program provides a subsidy towards a package of care, services and Case Management to meet your personal needs. There are four levels of Homecare Packages. A professional assessor will work with you to find out if a Homecare Package is the right service for you, which level of service you need and when you might need it.... The four package levels are structured as follows: Level 1 supports people with basic care needs Level 2 supports people with low-level care needs Level 3 supports people with intermediate care needs Level 4 supports people with high-level care needs. Each level of Homecare Package provides a different subsidy amount. This amount is paid to an approved homecare provider that you have selected. The subsidy contributes to the total cost of your service and care delivery. As part of the Governments Aged Care reforms, Homecare Packages are now portable. This means that when you have been allocated a Package, you choose the Provider that best suits your needs to manage your package. If you are not satisfied with your current Provider, you can choose to move your Package to another Provider and your Unspent Funds will transfer with you. Tenterfield Total Care has been assisting consumers to remain independent and living in their own home for over 20 years. We take the time to understand your requirements and find the right carer for you. For more information on how to arrange an assessment for a Homecare Package you can contact: My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or Tenterfield Total Care on 0267364947
