23.01.2022 The perfect 'under an umbrella poolside with a glass of pinot grigio on a Sunday afternoon' weather...
22.01.2022 A spring morning sunrise (following spring evening thunder storms) doesn't get much better than this!
21.01.2022 In two minds as to whether this should be shared with Daisy... She's likely to insist upon a pay rise - and I'm not certain extra kibble at tea time is going to cut it!
20.01.2022 Considering the belting winds we've had on and off all week, the Wonga Wonga vine is looking resplendent - in addition to looking ever so pretty, those blooms are obviously tough little suckers!
19.01.2022 Lovely to discover that Terragong has featured in House & Garden UK Magazine, with thanks to our friend Jenny Rose-Innes and her book 'Australian Designers at Home'... https://www.houseandgarden.co.uk/gallery/darryl-gordon-house
19.01.2022 An addition to our usual guest room amenities, in response to these unusual times and just one of the extra steps we're taking to provide a Covid-safe experience for Terragong guests... Over in New Zealand our mum Marjorie has been busy at the Bernina (thanks mum! ), using fabric remnants which we provided to sew up over 100 drawstring bags which we've filled with individually wrapped/sterile single-use medical grade facemasks and a travel size bottle of hand sanitiser from @thankyouaus (100% of profits donated to help end extreme poverty). We're encouraging our guests to carry and use these when out and about on their sightseeing excursions and to keep the bag with our compliments. Hopefully they will come in handy for carrying glasses, coins and other (non-Covid related) bits and bobs - a wee momento of their stay with us.
17.01.2022 Thanks to the constant rain over the past day and night, the Jerrara Creek has again overflowed its banks... We're keeping an eagle eye on the culvert on our northern boundary to ensure that the water now inundating the copse in front of the house continues to flow out into Terragong Swamp. Following the rain from a couple of weeks ago, the ground is now unable to soak up any of this; fortunately the gents who hand-dug the drainage system for Terragong Swamp in the late 1800s knew what they were doing!
15.01.2022 Talk about hitting the ground running! Our second week of welcoming guests following our holiday break and we're busy readying everything for this afternoon's arrivals (and another 'full house' few days!). Thank you Maggie @thedayshirt for this photo of Terragong's Garden Room, taken earlier this week; we were thrilled to have you back with us as our first guests for 2021 - an auspicious start to the new year!
15.01.2022 ... and two of the seven are within easy (like, really close!) reach of Terragong
14.01.2022 Gorgeous Daisy overseeing the beekeeping operation at @terragongjamberoo
13.01.2022 Did someone say "east coast low"? We've had a wee bit of rain overnight (with more forecast for the rest of today and into tomorrow). The Jerrara Creek in flood around us, flowing into Terragong Swamp in the distance...another cracking courtesy of our neighbours @jerraracreekfarm
12.01.2022 By Jove she's done it again! Another stunning flower arrangement from our neighbour and friend Erica @little_house_on_the_dairy - these for our guest arriving this afternoon, celebrating a birthday with a whole of house booking with friends (and a special dinner in the formal dining room this evening...)
09.01.2022 My post-breakfast service view, our guests are packing their bags readying to depart, dishwashers x2 running, much anticipated second cup of coffee poured!
09.01.2022 Picked just now from the garden, arranged into three little bunches destined for bedside tables for this weekend's guests due in a few hours time. It's a full house for the long weekend and the weather is promising to be sunny and warm - perfect for exploring and sight seeing or lounging and napping on the pool terrace or on the verandah.
08.01.2022 Our new compendiums are now complete and looking very smart, with thanks to Carl and Eevi at @kiprint_kiama for the printing and laminating of the pages. As part of our Covid-19 Safe Business plan, we've had extra sets made up so that we can swap them over between guest stays, the pages laminated so that they can be easily and properly sanitised.
07.01.2022 Sunrise on a winter's Sunday, Terragong captured most beautifully from across Jerrara Creek by our neighbours @jerraracreekfarm (happy birthday Rachael ).
07.01.2022 Summertime vibes. (Also, disproving the old adage that "blue and green should never be seen...").
04.01.2022 One of our guests this long weekend is having a solo exhibition of her works in pastel at Kiama's Old Fire Station Gallery on Terralong Street. Multi award winning Jane Wray @janewrayart is a Member of the Royal Art Society of NSW and the Pastel Society of Australia (to name just two) and was winner of the Pastel Society of Australia Exhibition (2020) Still Life category ('Irises', pictured). Jane's exhibition runs until Wednesday, so if you have yet to call in to the gallery to see her work, there's a few days remaining to get along...
03.01.2022 In the Top 10% of hotels worldwide? Thank you! A perfectly timed boost to morale as we continue to update our Covid-19 Safe Business plan, working towards our September 3rd reopening, keeping a wary eye on pandemic developments, sending best thoughts and long-distance hugs to friends and past guests in Victoria...
01.01.2022 Quite exciting to discover that Terragong has been featured by @houseandgardenuk, in an extract from our friend @jennyroseinnes book 'Australian Designers at Home'! www.houseandgarden.co.uk/gallery/darryl-gordon-house Simon Griffiths @simong9
01.01.2022 So this happened at Terragong yesterday. Samantha and Jeremy celebrated their wedding with their immediate family gathered together, the Queensland border opened just in the nick of time to allow Sam's family to attend - swelling total numbers to nine! The wet weather didn't put a dampener on spirits (and we reckon added a stunning extra layer of moody romance to these amazing pics by Alex @olguinphotography )...... The old slab hut was decorated and set for both their ceremony and the celebration dinner, and I was honoured (if somewhat nervous!) to be asked to cater the meal for what was the most beautiful of truly intimate celebrations... Congratulations Sam & Jeremy (and thank you for letting us share these photos). Decoration and flowers @wedeventcreators @flowersonthemill Music @clear_strings Sam's makeup @liv_lundelius
