15.01.2022 Yesterday we received an emergency call from a distressed family in Coconut Grove. Their pet Rooster (Julienne) had become trapped in an extensive underground d...rainage system and urgently required locating and extraction. After 6 hours of careful planning, logistics and a team of superhero's, Julienne emerged to the loving arms of his 16yo owner. Our expert rescue team on duty were Will Green, The Larrakia Rangers and Mitch from Wigg Plumbing. See more

13.01.2022 Animal welfare staff and vets are in the air, and on their way to check and feed animals left behind as a result of ex-Tropical Cyclone Trevor. In no time, we'l...l have eyes on your animals in Borroloola, Robinson River, Numbulwar and Urapunga Thanks Roper Gulf and East Arnhem local council vets, we love your work!

13.01.2022 Here he is the big fella. For some reason the side camera didn't activate so we can't get an accurate idea on his size. The first video is me setting up the cameras to give you an idea of the size of the pig. The third vid is to show you how far he pulled the log down the bank before it finally came loose. I don't want to overestimate his size, but I'd say four meters at least.

12.01.2022 One of our little mates at Borroloola after the cyclone.

05.01.2022 What a week! It's almost 7 days since #CycloneTrevor crossed the coast in Roper Gulf region - the South East corner of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Australias bigg...est mass human evacuation took place meaning that around 2000 animals remained without their owners in the threatened communities. AMRRIC was heavily involved with the #EmergencyResponse, participating in daily briefings, sourcing and coordinating the delivery of dog food, and then sending our Program Manager Dr Jan Allen out for 4 days to Roper Gulf Regional Council communities, to work alongside their vets Drs Sam Phelan and Rebecca Burrie, as well as Biosecurity staff from the NT Department of Primary Industry and Resources and other emergency responders. Thankfully, Cyclone Trevor issued minimal infrastructure damage to the evacuated communities, and the remaining dogs, cats, chickens, horses, ducks, brolga, etc came through a little hungry, but otherwise unscathed. AMRRIC is grateful to the diverse organisations involved with the emergency response, including SecureNT Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services Roper Gulf Regional Council East Arnhem Regional Council @Top End Rehoming Group Inc Territory Animal Solutions and NTs Department of Primary Industry & Resources. Residents from evacuated communities have now mostly been repatriated, for reunions with their furry friends. Of all of our recent facebook posts, this event has by far had the largest social media response from you - AMRRIC supporters and followers. Thank you all for being such an engaged and concerned mob!
