17.01.2022 Writer and storyteller Maureen Jipiyiliya Nampijinpa O'Keefe is on a mission to share stories about her family and the desert region she loves.... Her family comes from the Devil’s Marbles area, also known as Karlu Karlu, and she is a Kaytetye-Warlpiri woman born and raised in the remote Aboriginal community of Ali Curung. The natural beauty and sounds of the desert and the stars at night there’s nothing quite like it anywhere else, said Maureen, whose work has appeared in various anthologies. The stories Maureen, who now lives in Alice Springs, listened to as a child are unique to her home, her family and the Territory. My family lived a bush life and I grew up sitting around the campfire, listening to stories ... I don’t want those stories to disappear. #territoryday

15.01.2022 Former Victorians Rachel Thomson and Shaun Gilbert missed their first time in the Territory so much, they moved back with their two kids. Now the couple, who’ve had their third child while living in Nhulunbuy, couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.... We were only going to come for 12 months, but we loved it so much we stayed. We’ve got no plans to go anywhere, Rachel said. She said living in Nhulunbuy has given her children the freedom to play and explore in a safe environment, and allowed her and partner Shaun to enjoy the perfect work/life balance. The family enjoys camping, fishing and the privilege of playing footy with players from the nearby community of Yirrkala. This is our life now and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. We love living in the Territory. It’s in our souls. #territoryday
