25.01.2022 Had the workshop to myself today. Got the frame and panel back together dry. Ill see if the panels want to swell with the rain forecast for the next four days and make adjustments where necessary before a glue up mid next week. The whole box has been glued together with hide glue. Ill use the same on the back.
25.01.2022 One of my longest running and most treasured students who as of a few months ago, due to an ageing body, has relinquished his bench place sent me this image of his final piece (table). The CD rack was the first piece he made over a decade ago. The chairs to the right are also his work (2 of 8 I think). We miss you in the workshop Jim Roche. The political balance on Tuesdays is now lopsided.
24.01.2022 Display cabinet by Marie Goorman. Finished late last year as her first project.
24.01.2022 I had a spare piece of macrocarpa taking up space in the rack so I thought a new lunch table would be nice when you all return.
24.01.2022 A bit of Charles Rennie Macintosh happening at the bench last week.
24.01.2022 Rippled Olive Ash I think is one of my favourites #bowlturning #oliveash #glennlucaswoodturningstudycentre #bowlmaker
23.01.2022 The makers maker - Colen Clenton - Toolmaker. If you want to see world class craftsmanship at its very best then marking out tools and gauges by @colenclenton a...re the very best. He makes the tools that makers around the world use and collect. Colen has not missed a single Lost Trades Fair - and along with @glenrundellchairmaker and @blueythe_bucketman this will be number eleven. It is what the fair is all about - incredible skill, exceptional craftsmanship and a pursuit of excellence in what you are passionate about. See you next week Colen. . #losttradesfair #losttradesfair #losttradesfair2020 #craftsmanship #toolmaker #explorebendigo #visitvictoria See more

22.01.2022 As requested, here are some more shots of The Palace of Secrets. A 3 year labor of love from 1996 early 1999. Spiral slip matched Burr Walnut with Lauro Preto c...ross banding and solid black Ebony mouldings and split turned detail. Interior in figured French Sycamore with Shagreen inlays. Multiple complex secret compartments with multi step puzzle opening systems. . Layer upon layer of precision decorative detail in, under and behind everything. Hand made hardware, lock and key. Palace drawers are individually internally lit with concealed fibre optics that illuminate through their pierced windows. A counterbalance system allows the lid of the upper crown to rise up as it opens to present a hand made clockwork driven mechanical singing bird. The bird is made from gold plated rhodium and is set with 260 diamonds. A hand wound spring driven mechanism operates a leather bellows blowing across a slide whistle whilst the bird pops up, pivots, flaps its wings and tail and opens and closes its beak in time with the whistling. There is also a solid gold fountain pen with fine engraved and inlaid detail, accompanied by three lead crystal and engraved gold ink bottles for blue, red and green ink. #boucherandco #superyachts #mastercraftsman #luxuryfurniture #interiordesign #luxury #furnituredesign #interiordesigner #luxuryhomeinspiration #bespokefurniture #bespokeluxury #luxuryhomefurniture #customfurniture #luxuryliving #luxuryinteriors #craftsmanship #designlovers #luxurydesk #luxurychair #boystoys #customhardware #luxurygifts #mechanicalfurniture #shagreen #milliondollarfurniture #millionaire #billionaire #cufflinkbox #watchbox

15.01.2022 From little things - big things grow. In our case, a little idea to change things on the Australian landscape for traditional artisans has seen the Lost Trades ...Fair grow over the past six years, showcasing collectively more than 200 artisans, both local and international, over ten fairs across three states to a combined audience of more than 100,000 people. Here is the dream team - the five people who have been a part of them all; Glen, Lisa, Colen, George & Tom; ten fairs done and many more to come. Traditional artisans and those practising trades once lost from our landscape are now acknowledged for their skill and years of training. Giving talented people the opportunity to share their knowledge, to demonstrate and showcase what it takes to achieve the finest level of craftsmanship in traditional trades, rare arts and heritage crafts is what is necessary and important. Along the way we found inspiration, perseverance, passion, integrity, we formed friendships, we collaborated. We bring together people finding happiness in what they make; and with each fair hope to inspire others to do the same. Once lost - now found. Thank you to everyone that has taken part. See you in 2020. Thanks @samscoufos for the photo and to @glenrundellchairmaker @blueythe_bucketman and @colenclenton for all your inspiration and unwavering support. #losttrades #losttradesfair #losttrades2020 #trades #skill #craftsmanship #artisan #happiness #gratitude #thankyou #australianmade #regionalvictoria #visitvictoria

05.01.2022 THINGS ARE NOT SO BAD FOR US at Bungendore Wood Works Gallery. Any complaints from us would be hollow compared to the devastation to the many businesses at the ...South Coast and the slow attrition of business in Braidwood. We are so very appreciative to those who are visiting us over these smoky and worrying times, they seem to be especially attentive to the works on display. Because we deal in arts and craft making objects we have a special empathy for those businesses lost in Mogo and Cobargo, some of whom have work displayed in this Gallery. To imagine the loss of any small business: All the stock, and all the infrastructure for running a business, everything; its just so hard building all that up again. It takes years. And years. I so wish people will understand and support the plight of this small, but so important arts sector of our lives. The Road To Recovery will be long, and for many there will be no recovery. And this is devastation. David Mac Laren Bungendore Wood Works Gallery (Twenty years ago a fire destroyed my workshop with everything in it. I never fully recovered from that.)
