11.01.2022 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY!!! With so many dancers at home taking classes, we are going to be posting technical tips to remind yourself of when training at home. TIP! Po...inte placement! Correct placement of the foot en pointe is a crucial for dancers. As the foot and ankle is the most commonly injured body region in dance, it is essential that dancers spend time and energy developing correct alignment, excellent strength, good control and a maintenance regime for their feet so that the dancers can develop both technically and artistically. We start from the beginning with the Rise (rolling up and down through the feet), this is the very first step learn en pointe and the basis to a dancers alignment and placement for all other steps. In the videos above, look at the shape of the foot and ankle- foot is straight when rising, weight is distributed correctly through the big to 3rd toe. foot is sickling. The weight is pushing through to the little toe and outer ankle. Not only will incorrect foot alignment create injuries and weaken a dancers ankles and feet but it also creates a undesirable line in all positions. The foot should be a extension of the body, creating length, a sickled foot breaks this line. Dancers remember!!! Take some time and watch the alignment of the ankles and feet in all positions. Repetition is key !!! Rises rises rises!!!! This is the best way to correct and strengthen the feet and ankles!!!! Let stop those bad habits and created great new habits today!!!! Demonstrated by our beautiful @hollyt.ballet #QNBKIDSATHOME #russianvaganova #trainingathome

04.01.2022 Miss S was delighted to watch former student and Principal, Remi Wortmeyer perform so magnificently at Het Nationale Ballet - Dutch National Ballet online CHRISTMAS GALA at the crack of dawn South Aus time earlier today -------------------------------------------------------------------- Details of piece performed: SOLO ... Choreography Hans van Manen Music Johann-Sebastian Bach Dancers Sho Yamada - Daniel Silva - Remi Wörtmeyer A masterpiece in seven minutes this is Hans van Manen’s Solo. Van Manen originally created this choreography for three dancers of NDT2, the junior group of the Nederlands Dans Theater. For three dancers because, as the choreographer stated at the time, due to the murderously high pace of Bach’s Violin Partita, it cannot be performed by a single dancer. Solo is only small in terms of its duration. In every other respect it is a grand choreography - an unparalleled demonstration of dynamism, beauty, technical virtuosity, bravura and, last but not least, the infectious joy of dancing. Solo splashes, sputters and swings, and drags you, as a spectator, with it in its incredible speed and excitement. See more
