I have contacted the Sydney RAD Office and please can all Exam children and students be on standby for exams next week - possibly Tuesday and Wednesday. We are just confirming this and finding out if the RAD Examiner is available. The times would remain the same as the original schedule. Here's hoping for the best. Kind regards Miss Simpson PS "Courage & Determination" followed by "Tenacity and Resilence"

17.01.2022 To all my beautiful little and not so little exam students that were to take their exams on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. I am devastated for you all aft...er all the hard work you have done. In my eyes you are all distinctions already as I know how beautiful you all looked over the past few weeks. What a pity the examiner never got to see you to! Let us see how we go after the two weeks. I will miss your happy faces and enthusiasm. Remember at a time like this courage and determination followed by resilience and tenacity. All my love Miss Simpson xxx

15.01.2022 Terry Simpson Studios sends condolences to Dr Alan Brissendens family and friends. We too are forever grateful for his contribution to the Arts and Dance, in ...particular, in South Australia and the rest of the nation. We have read that his love for dance was lifelong, starting as a 6 year old when he saw his first ballet as part of the pantomime performance of Aladdin. He will be sorely missed for his generosity and support especially considering the tough environment that the Arts are facing throughout Australia. #Repost @ausdancetheatre with @get_repost Garry Stewart, the Board, Dancers and Staff at Australian Dance Theatre are saddened to hear the recent news that Alan Brissenden has passed away. Alan was an incredibly generous supporter and advocate of the company since its establishment in 1965, and has been a leading voice in the development of dance in Australia. Alan was writing about dance in all its forms up until earlier this year; even as his health was deteriorating we welcomed him to The Odeon to review Black Velvet for the 2020 Adelaide Festival. Our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. His passion and words will be sorely missed. See more

02.01.2022 History of Dance at Adelaide Arcade. Over the years the Arcade has been home to many dance studios from ballet to tap, modern and jazz. A little known fact is t...hat Australian Dance Theatre (Australias longest running contemporary dance company) started its life in 1976 in Adelaide Arcade. Its fitting that its founder, Elizabeth Cameron Dalman OAM (who also became the Artistic Director of Mirramu Dance Company) chose the Arcade to host the companys 50th Birthday celebrations. The tradition still continues with Terry Simpson Studios which has been located in the very same studio for over 20 years. See more

02.01.2022 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY!!! With so many dancers at home taking classes, we are going to be posting technical tips to remind yourself of when training at home. TIP! Hi...p placement in Poss!! Stepping up from a Pos is a extremely common in-between transition step in ballet, it can be executed devant, second and derrire into a fifth position, arabesque, into a turn and many many more. Being one of the most popular transition steps, its highly important dancers have a beautiful correct Pos position. Lifting of the hip and climbing up into the position is a very common habit. The hip needs to be pulled down and the leg wrapping (like the candy cane stripe which we have discussed in previous posts), turning out so the dancer can access more length working under the leg and travelling the Pos further. We always want to work for longer refined lines, concentrating on under the legs lengthening and not allowing the outer thighs to grip and do all the work. This will develop beautiful transition steps throughout your excerises and performance work. Dancers! Keep those hips down and legs wrapping around. It may be harder at first but gaining this skill will strengthen the legs with length and develop beautiful transition steps. Take a moment to count how many Pos steps are in your next excerise.... it may shock you. Demonstrated by our beautiful @bri_dances_ #QNBKIDSATHOME #russianvaganova #trainingathome

02.01.2022 Filmed in Lockdown: Swan Lake Bath Ballet Elite dancers from across the globe create a modern-day Swan Lake from their own bathtub Set to Tchaikovskys famous swan theme, 27 elite ballet dancers from renowned dance companies across the globe perform a modern-day Swan Lake from their own home (filled) baths. Swan Lake Bath Ballet was choreographed, filmed and post-produced completely remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic.... The quirky choreography was performed in baths from New Zealand to South Africa, America to Hong Kong, Australia to the UK. Swan Lake Bath Ballet was filmed on smart phones, with innovative solutions such as a childs scooter, piles of books, even a toilet plunger being co-opted to help stabilise and enable camera angles. Swan Lake Bath Ballet is iconic in movement, epic in music and fun thanks to its setting; a memorable project made during Covid-19 that will make a huge splash. https://www.facebook.com/BBCArtsOnline/videos/2706761152880787/

01.01.2022 'Indoor fitness' groups such as dance, calisthenics, Pilates, yoga and gyms are being unfairly disadvantaged. We can have 300 people in pubs, 2000 at the footy, 5000 at a protest and just 10 in an indoor fitness class. Restrictions on other sports have been lifted, contact sports are being played! The restrictions should be eased for indoor sports and classes. Forced exhalation and droplets are of concern across all sports, not just these activities that are being unfairly l...imited. Children are already at school participating in PE and dance classes! There is no logic in this, children can dance during school hours, but not after school. Now more than ever people need these classes for their mental health but instead more value is placed on a football game or drinking at a pub. Small businesses are suffering, as is the well being of participants. We can not keep going. These restrictions are not justified. We need a unified voice. Please sign and share across all these impacted industries!! https://www.change.org/p/steven-marshall-mp-change-in-restr
