21.01.2022 This is something everyone should see. When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod a...round so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet. When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in. But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint. You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one. Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once. A bit of back-story: This is a baby puppy who had a knock to his elbow and wasn't using it properly, so he was taken to the vet. There is nothing wrong in these x-rays, thankfully it is a soft tissue injury and he is expected to be fine.

10.01.2022 URGENT HELP FOR POOR KYAH WE NEED DONATIONS LETS DO THIS FOR KYAH We need your urgent help tonight. We need you to all chip in for one of our poor puppies.... Kyah is a puppy born into our care after her pregnant mother Kimba was surrendered. The simple fact is that Kyah would be dead if we did not exist. Since she was 5 weeks old Kyah has endured countless vet and vet specialist visits, she has had X-Rays and Ultrasounds, blood and urine tests, 5 weeks of strong antibiotics to try rid her body of infections. Unfortunately, she has Megaesophegus - a lifelong condition but she always has a problem with her urinary tract causing continuous infections wrecking havoc on her body. We have spent 7 weeks with Kyah receiving intensive care and her latest appointment with the Internal Medicine Specialist at Murdoch Vet Hospital has us now pleading for you all to help Kyah as investigations reach a critical point to ensure her quality of life. The vet bills have already started to sky-rocket out of control, at over $4,000 but we cant give up. She has come so far and has our whole team (and I know you as well!), behind her. The reality though is that Kyah still has a long round ahead. She still needs to undergo anaesethic and have CT scans and an Endoscopy carried out. The findings here will allow the specialist vet surgeons to decide on how to perform the desperate surgery Kyah needs to survive. We need another $3,100 raised for her scans. Her surgery will cost $4,000 minimum if she has no further complications. You can see that we cant do this alone. The initial cost has drained our bank and account and the scans and surgery are still to come for our poor Kyah. Just $5 from each and every one of you will help us achieve our goal of raising $8,000 tonight. Its just the cost of a chocolate bar from a petrol station but one that will help us save Kyahs life. Please share this with your friends as well. Our poor puppy Kyah has had a rough start to life, so lets do this for her! Click to donate here: https://fundraise.giveeasy.org/campa/kyah-needs-urgent-help or SMS the keyword PUPPY to 0437 371 371 to donate $5 or more fast and easy

06.01.2022 Please read this before you buy that puppy Dear Mom and Dad, I died today. You got tired of me and took me to the shelter. They were overcrowded and I drew an unlucky number. I am in a black plastic bag in a landfill now. Some other puppy will get the barely used leash you left. My collar was dirty and too small, but the lady took it off before she sent me to the Rainbow Bridge . Would I still be at home if I hadn't chewed your shoe? I didn't know what it was, but it was l...eather, and it was on the floor. I was just playing. You forgot to get puppy toys. Would I still be at home if I had been housebroken? Rubbing my nose in what I did only made me ashamed that I had to go at all. There are books and obedience teachers that would have taught you how to teach me to go to the door. Would I still be at home if I hadn't brought fleas into the house? Without anti-flea medicine, I couldn't get them off of me after you left me in the yard for days. Would I still be at home if I hadn't barked? I was only saying, "I'm scared, I'm lonely, I'm here, I'm here! I want to be your best friend." Would I still be at home if I had made you happy? Hitting me didn't make me learn how. Would I still be at home if you had taken the time to care for me and to teach manners to me? You didn't pay attention to me after the first week or so, but I spent all my time waiting for you to love me. I died today. Love, Your Puppy See more

02.01.2022 During this time of uncertainty, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of WA has been inundated with enquires and wishes to remind all prospective puppy buyers th...at a dog is for life, not a day. Whilst it may be convenient to introduce a new family member please remember that once you and your family return to normal routine it will be a difficult time for a puppy who is used to having constant attention to be left on their own. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of WA are concerned about the number of dogs which may end up in rescues or pounds, after this pandemic. If you have purchased a puppy and you are no longer able to care for it, please contact the breeder in the first instance. Many reputable breeders have paused breeding plans during this time. We ask that you take the time to research the breed only buy health tested puppies from ANKC Registered breeders. Now is the time to learn more about the breed, do your research on registered breeders, find out where you can do training with your future puppy etc. There are a number of Perth Staffordshire Bull Terrier Facebook Pages where you can ask questions, but you are also encouraged and welcome to ask our club for support and advice. We ask you to please be mindful of the following; - Please ask the breeder for proof of health testing, clear of HC & L2-HGA from both parents. - Be patient when seeking a puppy and do your research to find the right breeder. - Do NOT buy from back yard breeders (byb). - If you have any concerns regarding a breeders registration, please contact Dogs West to verify their membership: https://www.dogswest.com/dogswest/Home.htm - If you are requested to pay a deposit, do not pay this until the pups are well over 2 weeks of age and you can confirm this breeder is a registered breeder with the ANKC. Confirm what will happen to your deposit should the puppy no longer be available. - The expected price for a Pedigree Staffordshire Bull Terrier in Perth, Western Australia can vary, up to $3000. Colour and sex should NOT have any reflection on the price. - When purchasing a puppy, the breeder should supply you with medical records including vet checked, microchipping details and up to date vaccinations and worming.
