14.01.2022 The 30 September is the end of the first quarter of the financial year. If you a working on an ABN and have registered for GST, you must complete a BAS statement for the tax office. Here is a reminder of how GST works. GST Goods and Services Tax We all know about GST and that we are charged 10% extra or $10 in every $100 on most things that we buy. Some of us will know that we do not pay GST on some things such as fresh food, some medical and educational expenses. What has ...and has not got GST is complicated and almost no Australians can tell you exactly what is in and what is out. Not every business needs to charge GST. 1. If you have a business that makes $75,000 or $1500 a week, you have to register for GST 2. When you register for GST, it means that when you make an invoice it must include GST. So an invoice for $4000 will now be $4400 GST which includes $400 GST. 3. Your tax agent will explain to you what you need to do and complete you BAS (Business Activity Statement) 4 times a year to pay your 4. The good news is you will keep some of the GST you collect. For example if you collect $1000 GST but in your business expenses you paid $200 GST you will pay the ATO $800 and keep the $200. 5.
