I think it's important to engage in the language process as it makes you a better and more empathetic teacher. Pimsleur offer one free lesson. I like to use their free lesson intermittently when I meet students from countries whose language I am unfamiliar with i.e. Nepal, Indonesia etc. Helps me get a quick ear for the sounds in their language and a basic insight into the word-order of their language
