24.01.2022 Why is Active Recovery Important? Active recovery can reduce soreness and speed up the muscle-rebuilding process. For example, after training with high intensity for a day or 2, an active recovery session helps your muscle recovery by increasing blood flow without putting a heavy strain on your muscles. At TFW we recommend 2 days training with intensity followed by 1active recovery session then 1 or 2 days with intensity followed by a day or 2 Active Recovery. Examples of A.R day would be a walk or swim at the beach. However i personally have found Animal Flow to work the best. Thats why we have added AF to our timetable. The training components in AF are similar to yoga/pilates except they have more explosive and strength based movements. So if your looking for something new and exciting to try give one of our AF classes a go

19.01.2022 Why are so many people afraid of strength training? All I hear are people's excuses as to they don't lift weights. Like I'll get too mucsle bound or they cause injuries. Firstly you won't turn into Arnold Schwarzenegger unless you eat and train like him ( plus take proformance enhancing drugs ) Secondly you won't get injured if you are coached with a great program written by a really good coach/PT. 16.01.2022 Hi everyone, hope you have all had a great weekend. I just want to bring up something thats been bothering me lately and that is COOLDOWN!!! or the lack of it after training sessions. The reason that cooldown is so important is because its the first stage of recovery. If you dont cool down properly, your recovery will suffer and so will your results. At TFW we spend a good amount of time warming up and training hard, but as soon as the last set is done, we often walk out... of the dojo and thats it. Thats a huge mistake! Until you turn your sympathetic system (stress response) off, you cant get the parasympathetic system (recovery) cranked up and doing its job. Making sure this happens as quickly as possible after your workout is a massive key to getting better results. If youre not doing any sort of cooldown now, adding one is the single most important (and easiest) change you can make that will have a real impact. So, how do you cool down properly? This is the correct order to do them. 1. Ride or row at 60% max hr for 5min or full body flow movements (I prefer the flow warm down.) 2. Static and light dynamic stretching. 3. Finish with foam rolling. Especially concentrating on the mucsle worked during the session. Do this after every session and I guarantee you will feel better, sleep better and in no time look better!!! Cheers Coach Anthony

Someday is when they will pick up that instrument. Someday is when they will travel and learn languages. Someday is when they will get back in the gym. Someday is when they will begin that big project. Someday is when they will break the addiction. Someday is when they will say a nice thing to their significant other. All too often, SOMEDAY is linked to the PERFECT TIME. So many people are waiting until the timing is "right," the money is "there" and the situation is "optimal." NEWSFLASH: You wont find the perfect time on the calendar. So why not start right NOW and the time just might be PERFECT. Adding up too many SOMEDAYS can lead to DISASTER in health, career and relationships. Spend enough time waiting for someday and you can lose all three. Dont let the perfect time to start getting healthy be when your health is lost. Dont let the perfect time to work on a relationship be when it is about to be over. Dont let the perfect time to start on your career be when you just got fired. You dont have to be weak to get stronger. You dont have to be sick to get better. 05.01.2022 Hi Warriors, As you are all aware TFW Brisbane Southside has closed our physical doors on 23.03.2020 at Midday, a mere 2 days ago to comply with the directive from the Australian Government. You may have heard the Prime Ministers address on 24.03.2020 stating that Personal trainers could run small groups outside. In the interest of health and safety we believe that we have a duty of care to all our members and firmly believe that self isolation and minimal contact is the on...ly way we can survive this pandemic gripping our country, so are not doing any personal training. We believe the mental & physical health of all our members is of utmost importance and so are planning on moving to a more virtual environment until bans are lifted. This will involve training videos for you all to continue your training. These will be posted to our Facebook TFW Brisbane Southside Group page, & through PT Minder. We are also going to introduce live Coffee catch ups with your coaches via the Zoom app, (more details to follow). As of Tuesday 24.03.2020 we have begun loaning out certain equipment to members who have nothing to train with. The equipment loans will work similar to library books, please borrow them for a maximum of 2 weeks so other members can also have use of certain equipment. Equipment loan will only be available between Monday-Thursday 8.30am-9.30am and 5.30-6.30pm. If these times cant be met please let us know. Please ensure you check the TFW Brisbane Southside group page on Facebook every day for continuing updates and training sessions.
