23.05.2022 When something good and is held up with government procedure at the expense of common sense what do you do. Well for the last 12 months or so the world has been witnessing the power of people who are sick of politics interfering with expediency. The Green Funeral needs your help. 9 years after the Cairns Mayor Val Shier, the council C.E.O, the Manager of Works and Councillor Sno Bonneau, followed by a full meeting of Council, gave the Green Funeral the go ahead, a council emp...Continue reading

06.05.2022 Our beloved pomeranian dachshund Trixi was born on 10th July 2001 and passed away on 19th May 2017. Trixi joined our little family in September 2001 when she was about 9 weeks old. From the moment I saw her outside the pet shop she stole my heart and I knew she belonged to me. Trixi showered me with so much unconditional love and all Trixi wanted in return was lots of cuddles and belly rubs. Always in my arms my sweet baby girl Trixi (aka Harriet Houdini). Love you fore...ver and will never forget you and all the happy memories you gave us. xoxoxoxoxo Your human brother (Haydon) said - I will truly miss you little one as you got me through some dark times with your endless cuddles and jumping up to lick at my face. You kept me on my toes as you escaped from every backyard no matter how fortified we made it, only to then sit at the front door and bark before running off when we answered it. Always in my thoughts and heart. Your human sister (Rebecca) said - Trixi was the fourth member of our little family that we never knew we needed. She completed us. I still remember when we took her home for the first time, she was in a box and she couldn't stop jumping up and down and licking us. Even after I moved out of home down here to Melbourne I'd come back home and she'd recognise me and jump up and down licking me to death. Trixi made the worst days better and was our piece of heaven from above. Nearly 16 years old and Trixi looked as beautiful as ever. Trixi touched our lives, and we will never forget her. Rest in Peace Trixi

14.04.2022 These two trees are called Rusty Pittosporum. They grow approx 10m tall and their fruit are round yellow berries. The foliage from these trees are food for the caterpillars of several Australian Butterflies and Moths.

22.01.2022 A little fast forward video of the beautiful walk you can do through the flora and fauna natural space where your for legged friends find their final resting place. It really is such a peaceful place. You can hear the so many of the native Australian animals that also call this space home. Early on Sunday morning we had a lovely welcome by a bunch of 5 kookaburras.

10.01.2022 Welcome to all of our new followers. The Green Funeral provides environmentally friendly cemeteries, replacing the traditional headstone with a living tree, replacing the headstone inscription with the story of a LIFE as it was LIVED... Our cemeteries do not to look like cemeteries, they look like forests. There are no visible headstones or plaques and they are not manicured landscapes. They create flora & fauna habitat, providing natural landscapes to be enjoyed as such. Every green funeral memorial tree is a living record of the life of the recipient, allowing access to the life story, photos and the family relationships of the deceased. This information is made available using the Green Funeral website. www.thegreenfuneral.com Our system of placing the remains into the trees root system, allows for each memorial tree to be selected at any time, and the remains put in place when the time is right. Because our objective is to create natural landscape, all of our memorial trees are planted as saplings, and protected by those that have selected this option.

10.01.2022 A slow little walk around The Green Funeral site. It's just a lovely little spot!

07.01.2022 Another Local Native Animal that was interested in what we were doing today. A gorgeous Goanna. Another example of the amazing wildlife that you are supporting when you choose The Green Funeral for your loved pets final resting place. Again, THANKYOU from the Native Wildlife.
