23.01.2022 Happy Birthday Mel! (for Monday) Today Mel had her TG's birthday and the children loved celebrating it with her! The Boaties also enjoyed the play-dough play today, craft painting with sticks and jumping through our fire hoop on to some pillows. Everyone had an awesome day! 23.01.2022 ARGHH, me heartie! What a great day we had for International Talk like a Pirate Day! We created some amazing collages, pirate ships and we even walked the plank! Doctor's were again popular with everyone passed fit to play. Have a wonderful weekend friends and we'll see you all on Monday!

22.01.2022 This week in the Joeys so far has been filled with wonder, laughter, imagination, curiosity and friendship On Monday we explored insects after Isaac and Addilyn found a moth in our outdoor enviornment Jazzy brought in some trucks on Tuesday which the children showed a strong interest in. To extend on this we created artwork using cars... 21.01.2022 Naidoc Week Day 4 Today we continued our celebrations and talked about the Torres Straight Islanders Flag. The children then did a collaging activity. Using a picture of the flag as a guide, the children created their interpretations of the flag and they look awesome! We also had a lot of fun experimenting with tapping sticks at group time! 18.01.2022 Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th in the Joeys room. We continued celebrating NAIDOC week with some Aboriginal dot painting and exploring our sensory table as we looked at some Aboriginal symbols. The Joeys also had fun dancing along to 'Taba Naba' and learning the actions to the words. We read some stories, recognising Aborginal dream time and the Joeys loved reading 'How birds got their colours' as the looked at all the bright colours as it was read. The children were invited to create a masterpiece using red, blue, green, yellow and orange paint. Together we then read "Baa baa blue sheep." Throughout the book we listed the colours of the sheep. Will extended his interest by using sign language with each colour we could see and showing his friend...s how to do the sign. 05.01.2022 Continuing our NAIDOC celebrations we created more large handprints. We placed them onto skewers and put them in a group in the sandpit. This was to symbolise and acknowledge the ground as Indigenous. 'Always was, always will be.'

04.01.2022 What an action packed day the Boaties had today! Firstly we celebrated Remembrance Day The children did some lovely paintings of poppies while looking at a picture of one. We also watched a story book on the computer being read called, 'Alfred's War.' We also continued Naidoc Week celebrations! We painted some more hands to stick in to the ground and had a special group time. Melodie had brought in some animal skins for the children to look at and a story called, 'When We... Go Walkabout,' by Rhoda Lalara and Alfred Lalara. The children loved this story! Between all this the children enjoyed activities outside and inside, lots of role play and dramatic play with each other. Have a great afternoon everyone and Go The Blues!!
