18.01.2022 MY FAMILY'S FAVOURITE - GRANDMA's DRUNKEN NOODLE's Everyone asks - Why is it called Drunken Noodles? There are many different stories of how these noodles became known as Drunken Noodles, due to the fact that there is no alcohol in the recipe. One theory is that they are so spicy, those partaking get drunk in the process of trying to quench their thirst, another that it was devised by someone who came home drunk and made something to eat with available ingredients. Whatever the story, there is a delicious outcome. We make it with broad rice noodles, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, meat, seafood, chilli, Tofu and fresh black pepper pods, which give rise to its distinctive spiciness. 08.01.2022 TRUE AND INTERESTING STORY - IN 1958 CHINA's, Mao Zedong made sparrows enemy #1 and ordered all sparrows to be killed because he felt they ate too much grain and hindered food supply. Three years later, China was hit with famine and millions dead of starvation. Killing sparrows didn’t improve agriculture and instead, worsened it. Without sparrows eating insects like locusts and caterpillars, insect population boomed and ate all the crops. Locusts proved to be the worst and fl...ooded the countryside in droves. With no sparrows to control the population, the locusts and other insects feasted on grain. The Soviet Union helped Communist China out by giving them some sparrows but it took decades for the farming industry to recover. Moral of the story: "Don't mess with Sparrows"
