23.01.2022 In recent times, many of us have had the experience of working from home, and for some, this is an ongoing mode of work life for now. Whether you do or don't have a dedicated home office, it's important to consider a few brief things to help with setting up a functional working space. 1. GOOD LIGHTING is a must. Where natural light is available, try to setup in a position where light comes in from the side, rather than as a glary backdrop behind your computer / laptop. Otherw...ise, an adjustable desk light can be used to increase brightness without glare. 2. ERGONOMICS should be considered. If you're hunched over a laptop all day, you'll wind up with aching shoulders and neck pain. Where possible, aim to set your screen at eye level, and utilise a separate mouse and keyboard. Choose a comfortable seat that allows your feet to rest flat on the floor or on a foot rest, and for your back to be upright. 3. STORAGE ACCESSORIES can be particularly useful. It's so easy to feel overwhelmed in a messy space. Use storage boxes, trays, folders or files to keep your work and equipment neat and tidy, and easy to pack away at the end of the day - particularly if it's in an essential area such as the family dining table. 4. FOCAL POINTS allow a place for eyes to rest periodically through the day. This could be a view to the garden, or an artwork or photo. The further away, the better, so that the eyes can stretch and relax. However, avoid distractions like the TV or a busy street view. If you need help setting up or reviewing your work space or home office arrangements, send me a message!

23.01.2022 Hi everyone! Here's a bit of inspiration ahead of your weekend! It's good to know that sometimes you can use existing furniture within a newly styled interior, if that's what your budget allows for. I challenged myself to use the first square dining table I could find - which was the Belgium Dining Table in Mahogany, from Temple & Webster - and to design three dining room schemes based around the one table. Which one is your favourite of the three?

21.01.2022 Hi everyone! It's been a while, but I'm picking things back up with That Chair There! (Thanks for your continued support) I thought I'd jump straight in and share some photos of Oscar's nursery design process and current styling. Hope you enjoy!

21.01.2022 Today's photos are from my own living room updates (before and after images). It took some time, but I gave it a fresh coat of paint, sewed some curtains, and added a few accessories. It's now the focal point of our open plan living area, and feels very inviting.

19.01.2022 I recently had the opportunity to select a new floor covering for our investment property, to replace the old vinyl throughout the main living area and hallways. I selected AQUAclic Hybrid flooring in Smoked Oak from Parry's Carpets, to suit our Dulux paint colours, Grey Pebble Quarter and Aumbry, and our curtains. The result is outstanding, and looks much fresher and more cohesive! Photos include a couple of before and during images. If you need help selecting a new floor covering in your property, send me a message!

15.01.2022 We're almost there with Oscar's new room - it was emptied, and has now been painted. Next steps are to sew the curtains, make the night light, and build/move the furniture in!

14.01.2022 My sister is now in the process of moving, so before she does, I wanted to share some long-awaited pictures from her room styling. She went with a Scandinavian look, with slightly deeper and darker hues of pink, blue and grey, and soft textures featured. I also sewed some more cushion covers for her, which hadn't arrived by the time she took the pictures, but I took photos of my own before I shipped them over.

12.01.2022 I've made a few updates to our master bedroom - new Home Republic sheets in charcoal and quilt cover in sage, as well as new self-made side tables, featuring Hafele handles, Loox dimmable lighting and USB charging stations, and Grass Nova Pro Scala soft close drawers. It's a breath of fresh air! If you need help selecting interior furnishings for a fresh style, get in touch with me!

11.01.2022 Project completed! Oscar is loving his new room! There were a few changes from the original design scheme - mostly due to issues with availability of certain products. But overall I'm very pleased with the result, and we have a very happy little boy!

04.01.2022 This is my design scheme for our sons new bedroom! He loves animals so the paint and accessories are centred around this theme, whilst the furniture selections are very adaptable to changes. This should be coming to fruition in the next month or two. If you'd like help styling your kids' rooms - to suit the now and the future - send me a message!

03.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! I'm excited to share my insights on the upcoming trends for 2020/21 - 'Natural Texture', 'Golden Luxury', and 'Bold 70's Colour'! If you'd like to know more about upcoming trends, or need help developing your own style, get in touch with me! Natural Texture - Bring nature in to play in your interior! Sage green has been teamed with textural pieces, natural timbers, and lots of plant life - all strong players in this trend!... Golden Luxury - Hints of gold or brass can add a lovely, delicate element to a variety of interior styles - here, it's been paired with a pale blush pink, set amongst soft lines and lighter frames, which creates a luxurious look. Bold 70's Colour - Add a splash of bold colour to your home, with a pared back, 70's inspired look! Key elements include muted primary colours, face line designs and artworks, and ribbed glass.
